1. Im thinking about beeing the first person to ever make a ssto in rss :P

2. Hey there! Im working on a reuseable rocket, by using smme's as the 1st stage engines. Unfortunately they have only 1 ignition available. So I tried to change the amount of ingitions in the engine config (cfg.) but I couldnt find the word ignition in it. This is how it looks like: //New engine/cluster plugin patch @PART[SSTU-SC-ENG-RS-25]:NEEDS[SSTU]:FOR[RealismOverhaul] { %RSSROConfig = True %engineType = SSME @mass = 3.526681 @crashTolerance = 12 %breakingForce = 250 %breakingTorque = 250 %maxTemp = 3588.15 @MODULE[ModuleEngines*] { %minThrust = 1358.5 %maxThrust = 2278.824 %heatProduction = 100 @PROPELLANT[LiquidFuel] { @name = LqdHydrogen @ratio = 0.728 } @PROPELLANT[Oxidizer] { @name = LqdOxygen @ratio = 0.272 } @atmosphereCurve { @key,0 = 0 453 @key,1 = 1 363 } } } +PART[SSTU-SC-ENG-RS-25]:NEEDS[SSTU]:FOR[RealismOverhaul] { @name = SSTU-SC-ENG-RS-25x5 @MODULE[SSTUModularEngineCluster] { @currentEngineLayoutName = Five-X !LAYOUT,*:HAS[~name[Five-X]]{} @LAYOUT[Five-X] { !MOUNT,*:HAS[~name[Mount-SLS]]{} @MOUNT[Mount-SLS] { %size = 8.4 %canAdjustSize = false } } } }
3. Do you mean the specific Impulse ( Isp)? If yes, then the formula for it is: is the burn time is the fuel mass is the average engine thrust the thrust at the time t
4. Procedural rocket engines would be fugging dope. Just imagine adding every single detail on it, like piping, precombustion chambers, nozzle size etc. . JUST FUGGING IMAGINE THAT! DrLicor : Idk where to find the amount of ignitions. This is how my config looks like: //New engine/cluster plugin patch @PART[SSTU-SC-ENG-RS-25]:NEEDS[SSTU]:FOR[RealismOverhaul] { %RSSROConfig = True %engineType = SSME @mass = 3.526681 @crashTolerance = 12 %breakingForce = 250 %breakingTorque = 250 %maxTemp = 3588.15 @MODULE[ModuleEngines*] { %minThrust = 1358.5 %maxThrust = 2278.824 %heatProduction = 100 @PROPELLANT[LiquidFuel] { @name = LqdHydrogen @ratio = 0.728 } @PROPELLANT[Oxidizer] { @name = LqdOxygen @ratio = 0.272 } @atmosphereCurve { @key,0 = 0 453 @key,1 = 1 363 } } } +PART[SSTU-SC-ENG-RS-25]:NEEDS[SSTU]:FOR[RealismOverhaul] { @name = SSTU-SC-ENG-RS-25x5 @MODULE[SSTUModularEngineCluster] { @currentEngineLayoutName = Five-X !LAYOUT,*:HAS[~name[Five-X]]{} @LAYOUT[Five-X] { !MOUNT,*:HAS[~name[Mount-SLS]]{} @MOUNT[Mount-SLS] { %size = 8.4 %canAdjustSize = false } } } }
5. Thats a good Idea but for me it kinda feels like cheating. But so far this is the only thing I can do. thx for ur attention!
6. Im not such a big fan of your first suggestion (proceduraley generated planets), but I really like the idea of adding volcanoes, geysers etc. more frequently into the game. I would also love to see rocks or unique objects you could pick up, store and later on research. Also It kinda annoys me, that you can walk through all rocks. Also, what do you think of adding different surface areas, not only differed by color, but also by roughness, density etc., like mud, where your rover could get stuck in :P, therefore making the game a bigger challange.
7. Hey there! I've been working on a reuseable rocket, powered by LO2 & LH2, recently. I figured out that the Space Shuttle Main Engines (SSME or RS-25) are very good and effective 1st stage engines, but I've got stuck with one issue: The SSME has only 1 Ignition available. So I started looking for a mod, which gives you the ability to ignite engines a customizeable amount of times, by adding hypergolic or pyrophoric substances, such as Triethylaluminium (TEAL), which ignites spontaneusely in contact with O2. TEAL is being used by SpaceX in their falcon 9 first stage, giving it the ability of igniting the merlin engines multiple times. So I would like someone to make a mod (because I'm not a programmer), which gives you the ability of igniting your engines multiple times, by adding an external (or internal) ignitor, which is connected to a tank filled with a hypergolic or pyrophoric substance(s). It would be amazing, if someone could recreate what I've just written. Thank you very much for your attention! Here are some pictures of my reuseable LH2/LO2 Rocket. Enjoy!
8. Im currently looking for a "ignition mod", in which I would like to have the ability of re-igniting my engines with the help of hypergolic propellants or pyrophoric substances, such as triethyaluminium (TEAL), which is currently used by spaceX in their falcon 9 rocket. Currently, I cannot increase the amount of times I can ignite my engines, just like the SSME in my ECO-1 rocket.
9. I managed to land on kerbol today. I was using 32 (33 im not quite sure) Ion thrusters and 3 parachutes. These dudes arent smurfs. I managed to take a closer look at them and they were also so nice to allow me using their launchpad (which is much better than that one at KSC). Nvm. do you know the song Im Blue? This is the species of monsters they are. If you dont know this song, its pretty mlg, and I would highly recommend to watch it. This is actually a clip from my attempt landing on kerbol (I cut out the kerbol landing, because my cam suddenly stopped):
10. Wait until a solar eclipse, so the mun blocks the light coming from Kerbin. Then it should be cool enough. Have you been using parachutes? I would highly recommend, because the atmosphere is very thin on kerbol, so your parachutes should work. I also realized, that the black spots on kerbol are great spots for landing, as you can find a ton of ores there, and also a couple of eastereggs ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I wish you good luck m9!
11. This is the cutest thing I have ever seen in Kerbal Space Program <3. loveing cute
12. Thats a risky plane design, as it only has one wing. I would highly recommend adding a rud and a tail wing to maintain stability.
13. Its actually rly nice considering its your 1st rocket. Amazing Job dude!
14. Is there a way to delete the post xD ? I mean, Im working on a ssto currently, but it hasnt been done yet. I'll post again once I've done it
15. I had Issues making the 1st stage reuseable, as the SSME has only 1 Ignition available (You can see at the start of the SSME's the sparkles on the launchpad, which ignite the engine). So the ECO project is cancelled. My next project is either a very cheap rocket or a reuseable SSTO, but thats a very difficult task, so I'll start with the cheap rocket first, maybe even making it reuseable.
16. Hello there intelligent Engineers! Today, I've got a challenge for you! A very tough one. So I've seen people building SSTO's in Ksp RSS but none of them was reuseable. Now I'm inviting you to join this challange and be maybe the first ones to ever crate a SSTO on RSS in KSP or a fully reuseable spacecraft. The rules are: Full reuseability no debris has to achieve orbit has to carry atleast 5t to LEO Realistic mods! (That means no warp drive ) RSS FAR The winners spacecraft will get a youtube review. I cant await to see your spacecraft
17. If none of these works, then the only thing I could recommend is: Try to launch a vessel, which will rendezvous with the spacecraft and try to refuel it. But this is very expensive and it would cost you a lot of dV. What I would recommend is some kind of Mun/aero-breaking combined.
18. I just realised, that I commented on the wrong post. I was supposed to comment on Mad Rocket Scientist 's post. I actually meant his spacerocket. What do you think of my rocket? Your Delta V, especially on the upper stages is really high. How have you done that? Is it maybe because I'm used to LH2/LOX engines? And about the SSME: Im currently working on a ECO-1A version of it, whoms 1st stage returns back to the space center (just like the Falcon 9 by SpaceX).
19. I proudly present the probably first Eco-friendly rocket in KSP History :P. The reason, why it is eco-firendly, is, that it is using is LH2 and LOX (Liquid Hydrogen and Liquid Oxygen) as its main fuel. It is using 6 SSME (Space Shuttle Main Engine or Aerojet Rocketdyne RS-25) to get the payload to about 140km and a speed of up to 4km/s. In order to maintain stability, I added very small, but long fins, giving it just enough stability. I also tried to avoid high aerodynamic resistance, which gives it a smooth look. It can carry up to 20 tons to LEO. Here are some pictures of it. Enjoy it ! : I hope you like my spacerocket. Thank you! Your spacecraft is pretty long and I can imagine it wabbling in flight. You should try increasing the diameter of your spacecraft. I like the name of the spacecraft .
20. You could try building a reuseable SSTO on Real solar system, which I am trying now. I just wanna let you know, that its loveing hard :P. You could give it a try!
21. Hey there intelligent Engineers! I took a look at the latest rocket designs and realised, that most of them are using kerosine for first stage, which does emit a hell lot of CO2. Then I thought about making a rocket ECO-friendly, and started looking for a propellant, which would fit my needs. And voila! LH2 and LOX or better known as Liquid Hydrogen and Liquid Oxygen. These fluids put together produce H2O, which is very eco-friendly. Luckily LH2 and LOX engines have the highest specific Impulse, and therefore the highest efficiency. Now I challenge you guys, to build a entirely Eco-friendly Rocket, which can carry a payload into LEO (in RSS ofc.)atleast! The rules are: Eco Firendly fuel, like LH2 and LOX No SRB's No kerosine or any kind of enviromentaly harming/unfriendly rocket fuel. RSS (Real Solar System) Rocket has to achieve a minimum orbit of 180 km. As an example I built an eco-friendly rocket called ECO-1, which can carry around 20t to LEO (approx. 200 km). For the engines I used 6x SSME ( Space Shuttle Main Engine; Aerojet Rocketdyne RS-25 ). Here are some pictures of it: Im excited to see your designs, rockets etc. Thanks for your attention!
22. Thank you for your reply! But it is still very buggy and it does also crash continuesly. As I said, I can only assemble parts when they're upside down, which is very annoying. I hope they will be active soon. Do you know any other mods for orion maybe. The only parts I need are of course the capsule, with the docking port and parachutes etc., the fuel and monopropellant tank of the orion spacecraft, Launch Escape System of the orion spacecraft and the engine and an adapter. Yours sincerely, Karol van Kermin
23. Dear Creator of this great mod. I was trying to make a replica of the Ares 1 with the Orion spacecraft as a payload in RSS and it semms, that the parts from the American Pack are not working correctly, or do not match the real components of the ares 1 rocket. For Example: The SRB of the Ares 1 rocket should have a weight of 801 tons, but in your american pack it has only 160.25 tons of weight. Additionaly, the rocket has only about 5 km/s Δv, and the minimum I need is about 8 km/s of Δv. Finally I can only assemble parts when they are upside down, so I have to rotate them every time after they were assembled. I am looking forward to see an improvement of the american pack, because it is the only good Mod of the orion space capsule I know. I really want to fly the Ares 1 rocket in RSS into orbit, so please correct all mistakes of this mod. Yours sincerely, Karol van Kerman
