  1. Falcon Heavy capacity to LEO is about 63t )according to some fast googling). Besides the actual number was not the point, balanced number obviously depends on the weight base parts needed. The point was that base building should (IMO) be a long term and gradually evolving project instead of just 1 or 2 launches to establish a self sustaining base...
  2. How would you balance the new base building mechanics with this? It seems (to me) that building big bases on other planets (or in orbit) and collecting resources there will be a big part of the new game...
  3. If they wont do proper life support, a big part of the game will become quite obsolete... I'm talking about base building here. Base building mechanic is THE thing that can be the source of interesting and meaningful long term projects but without life support it is just "slap down any building with kerbal in it". I REALLY hope they implement a proper life support system EDIT: At least requiring food and oxygen generation and some kind of reasonable space requirements (i.e. Kerbals cant live in a pod for longer than 1 or 2 days). That is the bare minimum IMO
  4. My biggest hope is that base building is well designed and balanced to give meaningful long term projects. And related to this: I hope that engines are balanced so that we cant easily lift 100+ tons to orbit with single launch. Otherwise building big bases will just require huge lifter and 2-3 launches instead of long term projects and planning
  5. More later! If you allow pushing with kerbals, couldn't you get infinite dv since you can just get back in to the pod when low on EVA fuel and it magically fills up again? Or has that been changed lately? Haven't tried in a while...
  6. But everything else works even though I havent set flows on any of the pipes
  7. That didnt help. But apparently it just didnt like being connected with those kis/kas pipes. When I changed one of the storage units directly connected to the logistics module to store LF+OX it started working
  8. Why does it say "Missinf Liquid Fuel" when I clearly have plenty of Liquid Fuel in storage? https://imgur.com/a/6ggsF
  9. Yeah I have noticed this but it doesnt bother me that much since I can just ignore it and keep using the part normally but yeah it is an issue. Not as annoying as the issue with kolonization modules above
  10. I dont see how this would be any easier than just changing 1 setting with 1 click. But yeah I understand how this could kind of fun for 5 minutes of fooling around with some silly crafts but...meh I dont see a real use for it. So all in all I dont see why this needs to be added but if it will be added it's okay
  11. But you already can just click "require connection for probe control" from the settings menu and then your probe will work again. As already stated below. So I dont understand why you would need yet another method for solving this same situation...
  12. Science mods I dont really care about but without information mods the game is pretty much unplayable for me. Since it is IMO quite impossible to design a rocket if you dont know the key performance numbers (mainly twr and dv)... It becomes a guessing game instead of design and planning game. I could of course do the calculations manually but that is tedious and not fun. So information mods do not even make the game any easier. Just less tedious and more fun. But hey it is your challenge so you decide the rules
  13. It might fly yes but it might be unable to get where it needs to go which kind of makes it unusable. As for my second point about balance: what I meant was that if you can upgrade parts many times by using science points, some parts might easily become "too good" so that you can "too easily" do anything you want with them. I mean, it already is relatively easy to go anywhere and back with stock parts so if you allow upgrades that becomes even easier. Maybe even too easy...
  14. Oh but it might very well break the design if twr or dv is lowered... The second point is valid but it might make game balancing increasingly hard since unupgraded parts must still remain usable but fully upgraded parts cant be totally op either.
  15. While this is an interesting idea, the problem is that this would kind of destroy one of the most important aspects of ksp IMO. And that is sharing your ships and creations with the community and participating in different forum challenges. Because after this change everyone would have their own versions of parts depending on what upgrades they choose so same ships would have different performance for different people. And that to me is unacceptable
  16. Does this work on 1.4.2 currently? I'm trying to backtrack some weird load numbers on kolonization modules and this could be useful if it works correctly...
  17. I am having a hard time replicating this. I made a simple ship that only had CS storage, 2x 3.75m kolonization modules, 1.25m reactor and ranger thermal control pack. Then I hyperedited it to mun and started everything up. Both kolonization modules had 100% load and used 3CS/h. I tried with different amounts and different occupations of kerbals on board (including the exact same kerbals I had in my real munbase. No effect whatsoever. Still 100% load for both modules. So I figured that it has to be some efficiency part. So I added one for each smelter/crusher/workshop/greenhouse and started them 1 by 1. Still nothing. 100% load for both modules. I'm out of ideas here... @RoverDude do you know what is going on? A bug or a mechanic we dont understand... Edit: new observation. If I take on kerbal away from my munbase the load jumps from 516% to 620% for both modules. But if I take additional kerbals away it doesnt have any effect on the load. I am starting to think this is bugged/not working as intended since I can not make any sense out of this... I think I'll try if I can get governor to do itsthing with the tweak suggested earlier... Edit2: nope. Governor slider is still completely useless. And tests shiw that it actually uses more CS/h while supporting 4 kerbals than while supporting 5 kerbals... Edit3: and when I add more kerbals it uses less CS/h guess I'll just ship in more kerbals then :DD But yeah @RoverDude there is definitely a bug there...
  18. Sorry if I insulted you but yeah that seems to be how it works. It is still weird IMO since less kerbals should use less all of this "luxury stuff" that CS is simulating. But yeah I have enough to CS production to keep one module running and have leftover to send to orbital station also. And now I knpw that I can use smaller modules in the future since they can support much more kerbals than I ever expected. The only remaining question is, what factors affect the load percentage of kolonization modules and how? Obviously kolonization bonus percentage (with percentage^2 factor). In addition highest ranked pilots on board? Other kerbals on board? Some efficiency parts (which ones though...) I will try to play with this for now that I think I roughly understand how it works. But thanks for the "fix" also, now I know what to do if I want to change it. Also I realised that I can just keep the kolonization module on even if I dont have enough CS to keep it running all the time but it will still use any CS produced and be running whenever it has CS and keep my kerbals happy since I only have 5 and it has capacity for 30 (or even 60?) currently. Or did I misunderstand something here? And thanks to all who helped in this situation!
  19. Oh for god's sake I'm not a complete idiot. Of course I have tried stopping the other module completely and just adjusting one of the modules governor slider. But the governor slider doesnt do anything. It works on other assembly and refinery modules just fine but just not with kolonization modules. I think I can "play around this" for now but an actual fix would be nice.
  20. Okay I get that but how can I make it use just the 3CS/hour and support just 6 kerbals? Governor slider should do just that but for some reason it doesnt do anything at all
  21. Further tests show that modules use pretty accurately about 15 CS/hour/module which would suggest that they are using that 516% load since 5.16*3 ~ 15. The weird thing is that this should be easily fixable just by using the governor sliders in the kolonization modules but these sliders have absolutely no effect on anything. Modules use same amount of CS and habitation timers of kerbals keep running backwards even if I set the governor slider all the way to 0 or anything in between... Edit: where do kolonization even get their bonuses? I mean other parts get bonuses from crusher/smelter/greenhouse parts and expertkerbal bonuses (engineer/scientist). But what gives bonuses to kolonization modules. Other than planetary kolonization bonuses? I didnt find anything about that from the wiki or in game part info... Also I checked and my planetary kolonization bonuses are 137% so 516% load for kolonization modules has to be about something else than that...
  22. Something like 150% IIRC definitely less than 200%. Plus it wouldnt even make any sense if having more bonuses would make kolonizatiom harder(since modules use more CS)
  23. Hi. I ran into a problem while trying to finish my self sufficient mun base. The problem is with tundra 3.5m kolonization module. I am currently producing ~30 units of colony supplies per hour so I should EASILY have enough to keep 2 kolonization modules running since they should only use 3 units of CS /hour/module. BUT for some reason they both say they are running at 516% load (this cannot be adjusted with the governor slider either...) and use much more CS than 3/hour (something like 15-20/hour). I currently have only 5 kerbals(1 pilot, 2engineer, 2scientist) in that base so I dont really need both modules right now but I would like to expand and be able to have that base delivering CS to munar orbital station also... Any idea what might be going on or if I'm misunderstanding something? I'm using 1.4.2 ksp version and 0.55.0.0 mks version. Thanks in advance Edit: Also if there is an easy way to fix this myself by tampering with the part files, that would be fine too. I just dont know what number(s) I need to change and where...
