  1. I can understand that. I'd like to see an update for it, but real life comes first. I hope things get easier for you.
  2. If you have a non-KSP story, I can tell you how to publish them on Amazon. Would be a fair amount of work on your part, though.
  3. I just want to share the design for a rocket I came up with that uses jet-fuel boosters to get its first kick to space rather than liquid fuel or SRBs. I haven't gotten this to space yet; I took a screencap shortly after (actual) liftoff and shortly after the game crashed. Image below" Honestly, I can't believe it even took off. It estimates about 18 minutes worth of fuel. This is a very early modded science mode game, and these are the first jet fuel tanks/engines/air intakes that you can unlock. The intakes and engines were made larger with Tweakscale, and that also increased the output enough for the bigger tanks. I haven't tried this with other engines. Has anyone else done this and, if so, how did it go?
  4. Everybody knows that 95% of a ship's processing power/info transfer rate goes so Jeb can watch Firefly on Netflix on loop.
  5. I need this in my life, as soon as possible.
  6. I'm looking into building an unmanned rover to either Minmus or the Mun, to make it easier to get science out of the biomes. Is there a specific way I should try to land it? I was thinking about building it like a rocket, and then just tilting it over onto its wheels when it landed wherever its going and decoupling, like on a fairing.
  7. I don't like playing without Kerbal Construction Time; it makes it take time to build each rocket, also taking into account what parts you have in stock. I also much prefer playing with Stage Recovery. That makes it a bit easier by allowing you to strap parachutes/landing rockets/etc to recover your dropped parts.
  8. Hm...I think for right now then I'm going to focus on advancing the Manned part of the program; 90% of my missions in this career have been unmanned, and I just got a (permanent) lander on the Mun, I'm going to start trying to get Jeb to Minmus and Valentina to the Mun and back. I have a Duna window coming up in about a year and I think I'll shoot for that as my next interplanetary mission. I'm also going to try to get an altimetry probe to Eve and map out the planet. Maybe this would be better if I started over and did a Kerbal fan works thing for my career mode.
  9. You guys know Jeb and Bob play the Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game? They aren't very good, they're really only in it...for the boosters. *Drops mic*
  10. Thanks to the mod who moved this thread to the proper place, now I'll know the proper place to put it.
  11. Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately, Ares 1 will never willingly change it's orbit; unless there's a Shell station orbiting Eve that I haven't seen yet (likely) then its tank is bone dry. I'm currently looking into doing a Moho flyby/orbit (window is 14 days away) and with the KCT mod it'll be really tight getting the window properly. Do you think the ship I sent to Eve could get to Moho? I can post pictures of the full ship, lifter and all.
  12. The problem is when you shoot for the stars and hit the Mun!
  13. Congratulations! That must have been a heck of a miss!
  14. I accidentally smeared Jeb across the surface of the Mun. I landed on the Mun, but I burned up so much fuel that I didn't think I'd be able to get back. Using the USI Life Support mod, I decided that, he had 30 days worth of supplies, I'd do a short hop to more equatorial landing site where I could drop noms and oxygen until I had the chance to figure out how to Martian him back home. Well, I ran out of fuel at a very low altitude and decided my best option was to have Jeb take his chances with an EVA jetpack. Kerbals will still be finding pieces by the time we reach Alpha Kerbtuari!
  15. Have they announced a price or anything? Is it a full priced, $60 release?
  16. I'm starting to look into sending a satellite then a lander (unmanned) later to Duna. I'm nowhere near ready to send Kerbals interplanetary; I'm playing with the Unmanned before manned (realism) and I've only really just started investing in manned space missions.
  17. Oh I won't put a manned mission on Eve, not any time soon or probably not ever. I don't even know how I would get a year's worth of supplies to Eve, let alone a return vehicle.
  18. Is it hard to land on Eve? Can I land with just a small parachute and some small fuel tanks? I can't make it with this rocket, but I'm looking to future missions.
  19. I figured it would be much, much higher, given that it was further out. That may be my next target. I'm not terribly far into my modded space program; at the same time Ares 1 was going interplanetary, Hermes 1 was making the first unmanned landing on a body (not my first.) I think Ares 1 spent a good 20 days waiting in 200km parking orbit for the transfer.
  20. If I may make a suggestion, Rolos staging? Like, the candy? If it ditches tanks like I think it does, dropping them off in a row one at a time.
  21. Thank you! I can't believe I actually did it, I figured I'd run out of fuel about halfway through the second burn, before I ever even got a flyby!
  22. I hope I won't get in trouble for posting this here, but I just wanted to brag. After 162 hours I've managed to get a vessel to orbit another planet! The trip to Eve didn't go quite without a hitch (although, pretty well since it was intended to go to Moho) but I managed to leave a satellite permanently in orbit. I'm including pictures as well. Please please please feel free to offer any advice or criticisms, I wish I had more pictures to share!
