  1. I'm guessing it's the Tourism Plus pack for Contract Configurator that are generating those contracts.
  2. Sweet. Now we just need to find some Baobab trees to crash into.
  3. Had this guy help me play the game today. He claimed to be a pro but all he did was blow the rockets up while grinning maniacally.
  4. Bringing some bikes along for a bit of exploration.
  5. Hello! Saw these in your posts in the "What did you do today" thread. Thought they looked really nifty. I will have to give them a try.
  6. The half-stage of the old Atlas where it drops the booster engines.
  7. Controlling from the wrong probe core. I've lost numerous vehicles by having focus on a core that's pointing in the wrong direction. I also have a tendency to forget mission objectives. I'll launch, carry out the mission, then land and recover only to realise that I didn't do half the things I'd planned to do.

  9. Some of my favourite rockets based mostly on their aesthetics. In alphabetical order because I couldn't rank them if I tried. Antares - I really like the minimalistic and uniform shape. Function before flashiness. There's a certain charm to that. Atlas - Specifically the original ICBM version before they started putting every upper stage known to man on them (although Atlas-Centaur was decent). Somehow, it managed to appear both futuristic and industrially old school at the same time. The stage-and-a-half setup added to the unique look. Also, stainless steel before it was cool. Proton - To me it's the quintessential Soviet design. Functional, brutish, but still strangely attractive. There's something about the contrast between the sleek, no-nonsense upper stages and the more bulging first stage with its six engines and clamped on fuel tanks. Saturn IB - A lumbering gigant. Big and strong, yet not so large that you lose perspective of its size like with its big brother. The cluster of tanks gives the rocket an ad hoc feeling and adds to its character. Titan IV - I could lump the many Titan III variants in here as well. These rockets look powerful like few others do. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but I think it has to do with the huge SRBs squeezing the core vehicle between them. When it comes to spacecraft, I would say the old Soyuz (7K-OK and OKS) for manned ones. Dangerous as they were, I do like the sort of steampunky look of them. They also remind me of Klingon bird of preys (or the other way around I guess). For unmanned, I'm going with the Venera probes. Again, they have that rough Soviet industrial design, looking almost like factory equipment. I also like those missions, failing lens caps notwithstanding.
  10. Depends on the setup of course, but I clocked a full 1.9.1 install with around 100 mods at 8 minutes from a 7200 rpm mechanical drive.
  11. I guess a grand tour mission is out of the question.
  12. This is the Chibi rover from my Spaceborne mission report. Here it's being tested at the desert facility by kerbonauts Sarah and Siglas. Once approved for use, the rover will be sent to the newly established Placidity mun base. A prototype of the base can be seen in the background. Next, we have the Odobenus rover. The job of this autonomous behemoth is to bring supplies from landed Touchstone supply vehicles over to the Placidity mun base. This is the second prototype being tested out in the desert. The first one was destroyed in an accident. Those are my current rovers so far.
  13. Harmony station from my Spaceborne mission report which I'm hoping to get back to soon. The station has orbited 200 km above Kerbin for seven in-game years, during which it has changed and grown several times. Visitors include ten main expeditions and a number of short-term missions. Docked on the left side is a Dauntless crew vehicle (number 17 I belive). On the right is the Explorer 1 mun lander acting as a temporary crew transfer while also receiving some hardware upgrades. On the bottom, docked to the orange fuel tank, is an old Keystone supply vehicle which has since been deorbited. I also have stations at the Mun and Minmus, but these are scheduled to be replaced soon.
  14. I installed KSP 1.11 using the downloadable installation package from GOG (I don't use Steam) and started the game with the command file. The parachute works fine with this setup, but I did notice that if you don't change directories, the game creates PartDatabase.cfg in the directory where the command file is located rather than in the actual game folder. If the problem is caused by this file then this might have something to do with it.
  15. Kerbin System Ops Prepare landing site for Placidity Mun base. Date: Y11 D111 Launch site: Tranquility Launch vehicle: Explorer 1 Crew: P1 Neming, E1 Dudble Placidity Launch the base to a parking orbit around Kerbin. Date: Y11 D166 Launch site: KSC Launch vehicle: Phoenix IIB Crew: - - - -- -- -- END OF MISSION LOG 041 -- -- -- Another quick update on the game and this report. A couple of mods have been pruned and a few others updated. One of these updates (for Conformal Decals) required som editing of the persistent file, but I think I got it sorted out. Also, to get some more variation among my kerbonauts, I've added some additional skins to Texture Replacer. The pictures in the first post have been updated accordingly.
  16. The Portrait Stats mod has this, though I don't know how well it works on the latest KSP version.

Date: Y10 D80 Launch site: KSC Launch vehicle: Phoenix IIC Crew: P2 Sarah, E2 Bill -- -- -- END OF MISSION LOG 033 -- -- -- A quick update on the game and this mission report. I have moved the save over to a fresh KSP 1.8.1 install and everything seems to be working fine. In the process, I decided to do some minor changes to the mod lineup. Some were added, some removed, and some replaced. For example, I switched from Stock Visual Enhancements to Astronomer's Visual Pack so starting with this mission log, screenshots may look slightly different. I plan to phase out another mod or two once they're no longer in use.
