    Apollo 11

I will see it with my dad on Tuesday. Can't wait.
  2. Thats pretty much what most smallsat launchers are. Its simple and it works.
  3. Because of the better preformance in the 1.6 update i was able to do alot more things in one session, so i decided to mess around a little bit. I made a missile, called the 'Dagger', has a range of around 4000km Solid rocket boosters are alot of fun. I think that in update 1.3.1 and earlier the boosters were kind of buggy and only gimballed in one axis, but i haven't had any problems with it yet in 1.6.1 Super Heavy Missle? I also made a mini-spaceplane to try and bounce across the atmosphere in order to get somewhere, but that didn't quite work. Spaceplanes are hard to make and to get stable.
  4. White and blue. Colors of hope, joy and freedom. I totally absolutely chose those colors for that specific reason.
  5. I have a 4 year old Iphone 5s. I don't use that thing often.
  6. Yes, this is/was still very much a test mission, so its not a surprise that they test the deorbit capability of these things too.
  7. By the time they finished reading the instruction of the space toilet they will already be at their destination. Also, i wonder if they are also giving out pressure suits for these people. And if so, they might want to include diapers in their suits, just in case someone realizes that they are flying inside of an ICBM going at mach 25 that lands.
  8. Im not sure about the Shuttle, but the Soviets did have a smaller version of the Buran for re-entry testing. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BOR-5 India had somethings simulair: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RLV_Technology_Demonstration_Programme Oh, and ESA: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intermediate_eXperimental_Vehicle Again, i have never heard of any mini US-shuttles launched on suborbital rockets ever, neither do i know of the Americans doing drop test of a mini-shuttle replica, i know they did tests with lifting bodies but not scaled down copies of the shuttles.
  9. Good idea! No not at all, our cat passed away recently so we could use a pet. I also allow spiders to build webs. I don't live in Australia so its not all that dangerous.
  10. I wonder what can be done to make it even faster. Test everything at once and once that is done piece everything together when its done, rather than doing it step by step? Also, 'Martian Technocracy' sounds epic.
  11. We here had simulair issues. One night our neighbors kids were crying and the mother was doing nothing but screaming at them, but those people luckily moved out and we don't have to hear that unbearable noise anymore. Now its summer, which means i have to open the window to cool down the room, which and also means have to listen to the horrific noises of the street. I can hear every conversation going on outside, and also have to bear with the loud screeches of kids playing in the street. Also, i become slightly jealous everytime i smell and hear people having a BBQ party. Probably the worst thing i heard ever was a car crash, i don't know how severe it was, but all the neighbors screamed like they were apes. Speaking of opening my window, opening or closing my window in summer is a lose-lose situation, if i close my window in my room, i will have to sleep in a greenhouse (i have no AC in my room) and if i open my window, i will have to deal with mosquitoes doing mosquito stuff. Its one of the many reasons i hate strongly dislike summer.
  12. If you look closely you can see it appears slightly bent. But it it could very well be an optical illusion.
  13. I think they are going to begin testing on June 24th and are going to fly it in July.
  14. It kind of looks like Starship East has a simulair weird shape as Starship West from that angle. Maybe it is actually a design choice rather than sloppy manufacturing, or im just seeing things that aren't there.
  15. Noctilucent clouds right outside the window! Its simply stunning!
  16. It would be fun to name it like they were actual towns and villages, like Greystone or Moonsville. It would spark some interesting conversations. -"So, where do you work?" "I used to work at a lab in Greystone but now i work as an engineer in Houston" -"Where is Greystone?" "Oh its a remote village in the Sea of Tranquility, a few miles away from the Apollo 11 landing site, no big deal"
  17. They should, so they can test their Earth to Earth transport capabilities early . I'd be happy to volunteer as their first passenger
  18. I think its an interesting idea. It sort of reminds me of the time when flight was first invented and people experimented with a wild variety of different designs. I am skeptical of this however, the payload may not survive launch at all due to heavy g-forces and atmospheric heating. If i were to start a smallsat launching company, i would rather improve an already existing and tested idea, rather than coming up with a new and untested gizmo.
  19. An interesting presentation by Robert Zubrin about getting to Mars.
  20. If you look closely you can see the top part didn't really fit well into its place and there is a big hole. This photo was taken when they first mounted the top, so they might have fixed it. But im not sure. Also, from a certain angle, it looks a bit crooked, although it might be an optical illusion. (This is a much more recent pic, taken on June 11th) I don't think its a massive concern, its just the nosecone, and they could probably repair it or make an entirely new one using the construction techniques of the Florida team.
  21. It probably isn't going to reach orbit, but its definitely a prototype of the orbital vehicle.
  22. Im unsure what Elon means by 'probably', there is too little information. If have been following the NSF threads for a while now and some people speculated that the presentation would occur in Boca Chica because some of the containers used for construction was painted white (and it would be pretty cool to see it be presentated next to the real orbital prototype), but considering they now have delayed the Starhopper tests, i think its unlikely it will happend on June 20th in Boca Chica. So they will have to either wait, or the presentation occurs somewhere else.
