  1. Thanks, this is what I was hoping wasn't the case. Those big relays are hard to fit inside reasonably sized fairings without looking ridiculous. Thanks for the help and working the rest out. Good to know it'll work.
  2. https://pastebin.com/4vTaxtGR I think the only two mods for parts are B9 and Interstellar Extended. I can make another one with all stock parts if that helps. Also, as I keep playing around with this, if I just have the largest relay and nothing else on the orbiting probe, it works. Can I not use a direct antenna for connection to KSC and then a smaller relay on the same probe to relay the signal? Or do I need a relay that can connect to KSC?
  3. In my Galileo install I'm testing out designs for an unmanned lander probe to Gratian. Since Gratian has an atmosphere I can't keep a Communotron 88-88 opened as I enter the atmosphere. So what I'm trying to do is have a short range Communotron 16-S on the lander that won't get ripped off by the atmosphere, and have a probe orbiting above with an 88-88 connected back to command to relay a signal to the lander. I also have an RA-2 relay antenna on the orbiting probe. When I cheat everything into Gratian's orbit the orbiting probe part functions fine, has a good connection, but when I decouple the lander part it gets no connection to the relay, even when they're right next to each other. In short: Lander: has Communotron 16-S Probe relay: has Communotron 88-88 and RA-2 relay antenna Lander won't connect to probe's signal. Everything has power, line of sight, probe cores...what am I doing wrong?
  4. I remember watching one of Scott Manley's videos where he had a station explode. He analyzed it in slow motion and saw there were actually two identical stations occupying the same space that he could see right before the explosion. I can't remember exactly but I think he went to his save file and noticed there were two instances of that station in the file, he deleted one, and it was fixed. I wonder if that was the problem.
  5. I'm trying to complete a contract that has me taking a scientist to the Mun's polar crater at a specific location to do some science. I've done so twice now and it's not registering that I'm at the right location. The first time I put myself in a polar orbit of the Mun, set my target, landed right on top of it, nothing. Flew around the area for a bit, nothing. Restarted the whole mission and selected the target location and landed precisely there with mechjeb and still nothing. Any idea what's causing this?
  6. Ok, nevermind now I see the huge difference between TWR and SLT now. I hadn't ever even looked at SLT before. I always assumed TWR was calculated from sea-level thrust and weight. At sea-level gravitational acceleration is 9.81 m/s2, so if my craft is 12,652 kg, that's a force of 124.12 kN. If the sea-level thrust is 64.286 kN that's the .52 SLT I'm seeing. Hopefully this helps someone else. I just can't ever remember seeing that much of a discrepancy between TWR and inability to even lift off.
  7. I'm testing out designs for a 2-Kerbal resource mining lander for Minmus, and even though my TWR for the base of the craft on Kerbin is over 2 I can't lift off. I'm using a stock Poodle engine and the craft I'm testing is 12.5 tons. Both Mech Jeb and Kerbal Engineer are telling me my TWR is 2.01 on Kerbin, but when I launch at full thrust it just falls to the ground. Here's a picture of what I'm seeing. http://imgur.com/a/xMmpy As you can tell I have quite a few mods installed so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I haven't had any kind of issue like this before. I've made it to orbit with a TWR as low as 1.12 in the first stage, and this thing just falls straight down. I know for a fact I'd have no trouble easily landing and taking off from Minmus with this thing, but I want to know where my understanding with this is off. What am I missing here?
  8. I just installed this and overall I like all the new changes. I was even having problems with the base construction pack not even showing up for me after I downloaded it last week but now it works. However, I had the historic missions pack installed and had made quite a bit of progress, and now nothing else is showing up for it. The archived missions I had completed still show as completed, but the two active missions I had now show up in the archive as failed. One of them was an X-15 flight that I had at least 65 days left to complete before the update, and the other was the Salyut-5 mission that had to remain stable for something like 400 days. Last I checked it had 180 days to go and now it says it's failed. Any idea if I can fix this?
