  1. Not such a great attempt, but here it goes. T+ 08:39:14
  2. Here my time to the Mun. Can be done faster, was a quite conservative/bad attempt. 5 Hours, 37 Minutes, 35 Seconds. EDIT: After a stay of about three minutes, Jeb said '\'tis boring!' and went back to Kerbin, for a total flying time of 8 Hours, 16 Minutes and 55 Seconds. Challenge proposal: quickest to the Mun AND back?
  3. Here\'s my Mun-rocket. Only uses Silisko\'s parts. To make it more maneuverable but without inducing wobbling I used a non-steerable main engine, with little steerable boosters, which empty about at the same time (a couple of seconds later, actually). Fly the first stage to depletion, but keep the boosters attached and firing until they deplete as well. I tried to reduce the number and type of fuel tanks, but after they deplete, this behemoth becomes unresponsive, to say the least.
  4. First 'landing'...has something very kerbal-ish to it. First successful landing! Sadly there wasn\'t enough fuel to return home. Lift-off on my first successful flight to the Mün and back. Very similar spacecraft to the previous mission. Notice the jettisoned winglets/landing legs to reduce weight and the absence of RCS, again to reduce weight.
  5. It\'s not a problem of regulations, but of technical suitability: how should the Orbiter have got to the moon, let alone landed there? (Mind you, the feasibility of using the orbiter for circumlunar flights was studied, but refuelling the ET on orbit would have required about 13 Shuttle-C launches)
  6. It didn\'t because it\'s only an experimental release, so the latest stable version is indeed 0.11, which you\'ve got already. When 0.12 goes official it will most likely point you to it.
  7. 86.2G, stock parts only, apart from the modified textures. Must have been pretty interesting feeling in the capsule...
  8. As mentioned, the gauge is the only thing that jerks about, the figure in the 'end flight' dialog keeps making sense. In that particular try, speed at entry interface was about 4,2 km/s. As for maximum height...would it make sense to limit it to 5000km? Reaching such a distance would take quite a bit of time if one planned to actually get back to Kearth. Or would a higher maximum height be more appropriate?
  9. Hello! Here\'s my first proposal for a challenge: obtain the maximum pain deceleration on reentry, on any trajectory you wish. To prove your attempt, post a screenshot of the 'end flight' dialog, showing the 'Maximum Gee Force Endured', before touchdown, as the impact might skew this figure. Bonus points if you were using only stock parts! (The only mod I used was the Killmaster Edition chute)
  10. Thanks! Who needs a parachute now? It's great for powered landings!
  11. I find it better to just go straight up and pitch horizontally at about 30km, since at 34km or so the atmosphere ends quite abruptly. And since version 0.8 one doesn't need a 7-stage solid fuel monster anymore!
  12. Have you tried brutally copying the booster folder and replacing the model? If yes and it loads, the rest should work...just to see what would happen I cloned the default SRB and increased thrust ten times, and there were no problems. The model file is the only new bit you're trying to add, so the problem might be there. PS: such a stage would come in handy! For my orbital flight I used a liquid stage and deorbited with the remaining propellant.
  13. Now this is an idea: a Probe payload! Hail Probe! :hailprobe:
