  1. Hard no to this. Trial and error means you have to learn how to do unit and integration tests and iterate on existing designs. It teaches you engineering method. I have bad news for you about something that already exists in stock KSP1.
  2. But this way, there can be a different cabin built for ships that don't want to have to alternate between blockier spaceplane parts and cylindrical 3.75m parts. No need for excessive adapters anymore! Plus, just more diversity in crew module components is nice. It's good to have a middle ground between cabins seating 4 kerbs and cabins seating 16.
  3. The options for 3.75m command modules look pretty fun, it'll be good to have those for larger ships. Since we haven't seen the utility section yet, I'd guess that we're probably also getting a 3.75m equivalent to the hitchhiker, which I'm very excited to see. Also, love the new look of the spaceplane cockpits!
  4. Can't believe I missed this, but it's great to see that I can count on KSP2 to always have some entertaining flavor texts to get a sensible chuckle out of me wherever I go. Congrats Jim, I look forward to reading all of them and laughing like a maniac all the while!
  5. I thought so too, but I looked back at the show and tell for the LANTR engine and this one looks slightly different: Second one lacks the boom arms that connect to the nozzle to retract it, and the reactor chamber looks bigger too. Not to mention it seems to be smaller than the 2.5m LANTR.
  6. Maybe, but it wasn't like it was curving to follow the same vector, it was pointing one direction and then it made a sudden change to a slightly different direction. SAS would've been smoother. That might be true, yeah. It did have the old style exhaust plume...
  7. ...Am I missing something obvious? Because I'm pretty sure that kind of input-free auto-adjustment wasn't in KSP1...
  8. Best view I could get of the new engines on several ships in the video, if you look closely at the middle one, that's a radiation symbol. New kinds of NTRs? Anyway, I for one am VERY hyped overall. Shame interstellar travel will have to wait, but I'm looking forward to rediscovering the planets!
  9. What I saw was that if you look really closely, the ship's engine gimbals to adjust the ship's trajectory for a moment without any input, right at 13:29 in the video. Autopilot hint? Or maybe just nothing...
  10. Oddly fortuitous that you update this right as I start thinking about being more active on the forums again. And WOW, I have missed this absolutely WILD story. Thank you so much, and I wish you luck in continuing!
  11. Reread this recently, and... wow, it's still really good. A fantastic story with a lot of amazing characters, plus some of my favorite KSP ship designs I've ever seen. I know it's most likely not going to be continued, but wow, what a ride. Probably the one minor complaint I'd make is about the Fabien situation: having met a few people with conditions like DID and schizophrenia, they're a lot less murdery than the movies would have you believe
  12. Thank you! It's wonderful to see that people are still reading and enjoying this story.
  13. Well... it's sad to hear, but you've created such a massive, weird, and wonderful story on here, and I for one am very glad you did. Fair winds, Emiko Station.
  14. If KSP2 is going to include your writing... well, I think that's going to make it a much more interesting game. Congratulations!
  15. That ending... that was brilliant and dramatic! And I loved it! Absolutely fantastic chapter, thank you!
  16. Well, now nobody will be worried at all (/s). lol They're coming back to kerbin! Let's hope nothing... unexpected happens.
  17. I feel you on the loss of motivation. Just remember, it's your story, go at your own pace. That being said, I forgot how good you are at worldbuilding! This is really amazing.
  18. ...I've been gone too long and now there's a part two to the Emiko movie???
  19. I'll probably start a new thread, and link it both in my sig and in this thread. In the meantime, we wait for KSP2, I guess.
  20. So, I loaded up my career save for the first time in a little under a month today, and the kraken struck. UT was reset from Y1D184 to Y1D1, and all ships and that weren't landed (along with asteroids) were deleted, and their crews were listed as "lost" (although debris was unaffected). The persistent quicksave was labeled in the "load save" menu as having all the ships and the right time, but when I tried to load it it just brought me back to Y1D1. The only other quicksave caused me to be trapped in a glitchy void reminiscent of the old "Hell Kraken" bug. Above: the reset space center. Above: the strange, glitchy screen I got upon loading my only quicksave besides "persistent". Note the glitchy navball and UT. Above: Video of the persistent quicksave failing to properly load. Please excuse the poor video quality, I don't have any good screen-recording software. The other quicksaves are 2 copies of the latest backup persistent file (neither worked), and a quicksave from a previous mission, which resulted in the above glitchy screen. So, yeah. Any advice?
  21. I was about to say that Jim hasn't been a KSP team member that long, but... "It's weird how I'm constantly surprised by the passage of time when it's literally the most predictable thing in the universe." -Randall Munroe
  22. Well, look on the bright side, I have plenty of time to come up with a story for the sequel!
