  1. This unmanned test:

the plane was on top of a size 3 rocket meant to lift it to space. Thanks to CoL being in the plane while CoM was in the booster, and a lack of struts causing one of the strap on boosters to detach before the engine started, it flipped at about 150m uncontrollably. I then panicked went through abort procedure and staged through the list to try to save the plane. It ended up crashing nose first into the ground and had the front part of the body bent to the left.

There also is the many rockets in the demo that flipped during launch and never made it to space. And the time I stranded someone on the far side of the mun, and then made the same mistake twice with unmanned landers for rescue attempts, then forgot to extend the solar panels on the next attempt, and finally landed one successfully nearby. And the time Bob exited for an EVA during reentry.

I'm really tempted to pack up a bunch of Pathfinder parts, some parts from Extraplanetary Launchpads, a bunch of smart kerbals, drop them off at KSC 2, and reactivate the old site :D

    That would be awesome

  3. Technically, none of mine are stuck yet, just 9 are in one of 3 2 man rovers or a mk 1-2 capsule about 10 km west of the KSC. The last 2 are in orbit in a space plane prototype that was supposed to be unmanned for this flight, but they jumped in anyway. They could easily come home, but I should probably finish my first space station's assembly.

  4. I'm trying to make an ion-powered spaceplane with jets for in-atmosphere flight. I'm also trying to send it to space Dream Chaser style. All flights so far have been probe controlled because I didn't want to lose any Kerbals. I know I will lose some eventually but it had the probe core as part of the design anyway, because I always try to include a probe core and an RTG

This is the launch stack: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=846003080

I first tested its atmospheric flight capabilities with horizontal take off flights. It did those quite well, probably because it is a modified version of a plane.

The first vertical flight ended with the jet on the runway missing one elevator off the tail and the ion engine. This being after I lost control of the stack at less than 1000m and realized I might need more thrust and winglets during initial takeoff.

This is how the second launch ended. It still went better than I expected after the booster came off before I started the engine. :P

  5. I noticed that the game takes longer to load asset bundle definitions than the rest of the game combined. I would assume that it would be a smaller file than the 3D models and textures of all the parts external views, and the iva models, and the sound files. What is this file, and why does this file take so long to load?

edit: to clarify, I mean it takes 1-2 minutes to load, while my computer breezes through the rest of the loading before and after at about 30 seconds total, and I was wondering why it takes so long to load the asset bundle definitions. I take it that it is network related?
