  1. I started playing four years ago and I don't know how to play career. I gave career mode a shot, but sandbox is the only thing I know.
  2. This is one of the most if not the most polished early access game I have ever played and has a pretty awesome community and modding scene out there. If it doesn't win a bunch of awards I'm going to start crying game journalists sellouts.
  3. I'm playing completely unmodded, freshly installed on Steam, and have this issue. The debug console does not show anything strange. Please tell me if I can help narrow it down further.
  4. This is an absolutely amazing tool and I absolutely love you (and eveyone who contributed)!
  5. I can and I've done so numerous times, including Apollo style, but I won't participate in the poll because I'm not going to open KSP now to take screenshots proving it.
  6. I tried to go to Jool and do a Space Odyssey style aerobrake, but I failed to get there. I did it on Duna instead.
  7. I suppose the problem is the game is still unpolished in terms of giving feedback to the player. Squad has focused on gameplay (and for that I thank them greatly) while keeping information given to the player to a minimum. Since most of the player base has been around for a long time, they have gradually learned about the new elements and have little trouble knowing what does what and why. For a new player, starting to play with .22 for the first time, the learning progress is very different. As the game matures I suppose Squad will focus on addressing this. Feedback from new players such as yourself is very valuable. All in all though, I envy you. Although it may have been frustrating at times, you sound like you had fun gradually discovering how everything fell into place. You should be proud of your progress! Right now, KSP is not the best game in terms of tutoring new players, you depend a lot on the community for that. Welcome to KSP!
  8. Ricovandijk beat me to what I was going to say. Maybe it's because I found out about KSP on the Orbiter forums (and I had been playing with Orbiter for a while), but Kerbal Space Program feels like a "gamified" version of a realistic space simulator. Many aspects of it feel dumbed down in the most positive manner, as that is precisely what it's supposed to be doing, add gameplay value to the concept sacrificing realism when necessary. That is good. I'm a little late to this party, but perhaps the problem the OP is having is not so much related to "hardcore" mechanics, but to him/her approaching career mode wrong. Before you unlock solar panels and batteries, staying in space with your engines off is just unpractical. It's a gameplay design thing that has nothing to do with realism (in fact, as the OP says, it's less than realistic). You are not meant to stay parked in orbit doing science without a solar panel or even a battery. I'm no pro. Although I have been playing this game for a long time, I usually botch interplanetary missions because even the simplified as they are, some aspects of delta-v managing and mission design give me a hard time. I consider myself a clumsy player, and yet, I felt career mode was extremely easy. Perhaps that is because I know how the game plays, what I can and cannot do easily with what the game is giving me. Try to approach the game in a different way that is more in harmony with its inherent rules and it will become a hundred times easier. I'm sorry this turned into a wall of text. It was never my intention...
  9. Reversing Chinese is a phonetic nightmare. More on topic, if in the chatterer mod it's English and German, while official videos feature Spanish, then saying "speaking Kerbal" would be like saying you speak "Human". They have their own languages, which by chance correspond to human languages in reverse. Naamrej, Shilgne and Shinaps are just the ones we've come across so far. Also, regarding phonetic representation of the words (using the roman alphabet and English pronunciation rules), look at what I tried to do with the language names: write it so that read aloud by an English native it would sound roughly as the English word in reverse. I'm not English native, so I might have gotten it wrong there, but you get my point. Of course, when writing in Shinaps, you would use Spanish orthography and pronunciation rules, for Naamrej, German, and so on. Attempt (native speakers sorry for destroying your language and please feel free to suggest corrections): So yeah, difficult, and not a language in the proper sense of the word, but still very fun! !Nuuf eerev li-its tub, drew aeth foh snes reporp aeth neh edgegnal a ton dna, tluhceefid, aey os. And while writing this I thought of something. Note the exclamation mark at the beginning of the sentence, since you would need to emphasize the "beginning" of the sentence, as you would hear if heard in reverse. Right? Right? EDIT: For a written system for each Kerbal language, I would imagine using a set of symbols that represent all the phonemes of its Human counterpart in reverse. See an IPA table for reference.
  10. At some point the armount of SAS force being applied used to be displayed on SAS modules and capsules, similarly to fuel levels. That was removed, but the pods are still there. Edit: ninja'd! Damn touchscreen keyboard!
  11. Since you disabled comments on Youtube I will pollute this thread because I need to say this: that trailer video is sexy!
  12. What mods are you using there Firov? Those fairings look sleek!
  13. I just went to Gilly compelled by this thread. The only thing I discovered (first time in Gilly for me) is that you don't land on this thing, you dock on it. The vessel wouldn't stick to the ground and I ended up jetpacking Jeb down to the surface to plant a flag. I did not notice anything strange with its gravity (other than it being negligibly low) or my orbit :/ I would love to see this thing you mention. Think you can reproduce it and post a screenshot? More !!science!! needs to be done on this.
  14. Forgetting about solar panels and discovering, after a long interplanetary time warp, that I can't control my unmanned probe anymore and I have to start all over.
  15. Only as a short-term announcement, such as this one. Long-term release dates are more trouble than they are worth. I prefer to have updates on progress and make an idea of my own without the the devs putting themselves in a difficult PR position. When they said they had entered experimentals, for instance, we all knew it was imminent. Yet no promises were made and no promises could have been broken afterwards. So yeah, something like "Next monday!" or "Tomorrow!", it's OK. Anything more serious than that is not worth the potential drama in my opinion.
  16. Yes, I was about to update my post. It was indeed the antivirus' fault. I disabled it completely and tried again. Why isn't this hosted at kerbalspaceport anyway?
  17. The download link is dead for me as well. I got a false positive from Avast, but then when I disabled it I got a "server not found" error.
  18. I probably did it quite messy and the new version has gotten less permissive. I'll re-export the model. What did you do to get all those error messages? None of that appeared in my alt+f2 log.
  19. Hi there. I'm trying to upgrade my addon to the new 0.20 system. I have followed all advice I've found out there. Changed the file structure and added the PART{} wrapping to the config file. I have even downloaded a couple of working mods and compared my own to them. Everything seems to be exactly as it should. The loading log in game tells me it cannot compile the folder because the model does not exist. It is there though, and referenced in the config file just as other mods and stock parts do. Any ideas? The model.mu file is the same it was before 0.20 came along. Do I need to re-make it using the unity part tools? [Error]: PartCompiler: Cannot clone model from 'TINDEngineShields/Parts/Structural/TINDengineShield3' directory as model does not exist It does not contain any fancy stuff, it's just structural parts with no other functionality. Here is the mod for reference. I would be very grateful if someone could take a look at it: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9554756/TINDEngineShields-0.20attempt.zip Thanks!
  20. "That time when the servers crashed and a lot of data from the forums had to be restored from old backups". Yep, I'm going to call it that.
  21. Being a newbie is not defined by your post count. Besides, you are a reborn, which is a pretty cool title.
  22. This looks very nice. I think I'm going to add it to my standard issue of explosion catalysts.
  23. 1/10 Never seen you, but like your name! EDIT: I disregard your obvious seniority in here.
  24. It's more of a Kraken attack than a plague, but it's definitely a Kraken.
