Any chance we could see a x5 engine bell 5m ICPS? My duna lander weighs in at 80 tonnes which means the current 4 nozzle ICPS struggles at less than 1 TWR and only just gets into orbit. To be fair I am using kscale2..

I'm liking the looks of these sep-motor decouplers. Is there any chance we'll see an angled one so we can have the beautiful shuttle sep?

So, I used SSTU parts to make a Duna Descent + Ascent Vehicle or DDAV. So, basically it gets sent to Duna and aerobrakes itself into LDO, waiting for whatever interplanetary ship I design. Once crewed, the engines in the trans-duna stage will initiate a braking burn, putting it into a long aerobrake. Said aerobrake. Dispensing with the heatshield and aeroshell. - Need to add lateral sepatrons as the heatshield nearmisses the DDAV when it slows down - Might include braking motors to help slow the craft down whilst keeping the heatshield in place Drogue chutes deploy circa 13000m - Need to add "cut chute" action group when on final descent. Craft oscilates slowly Landing successful. - Realised that the ladders are on the wrong side of the ship - Fuel was ridiculously marginal Already bored, time to go home. - Realplumes is ridiculous, can't see a damn thing! 1st stage of ascent module burning nicely. 1st stage fuel depleted. 2nd stage fires up, bringing the DDAV crew module to a stable orbit. - Will make the tank the hollow-2.5 version, have 1000m/s DV left. This will help with fuel margin for descent stage Nosecone detaches to reveal docking node - I thought this was so cool, but just only realised right this second that there would be no way to dock with the mothership for crew transfer prior to the ground mission. Will change to a shielded docking port of some description It would be cool to have a conical shaped landing pod shaped like this, but with no ablator etc etc, but I'm happy enough! Without SSTU parts (particularly fiddling around with the hollow tanks and tweakables), this would not have been possible (or at least, not look quite so awesome).

Hard to keep up with all the parts that are being chucked in. Definetely has replaced ASET (lander module) and KW for rocket parts now. I am however still using the KW Thor SRBs as they have superb effects and sound. Any plans to enhance these so they go more like Shuttle/SLS boosters?

Welp... looks like I am rebuilding my space shuttle to use these parts! This is exactly what I've been waiting for since Mk3 showed up.- 2,344 replies

Looks great. Is the integrated radiator truss going to be like the ISS one (and Squad trio radiator panel)?
-
Shadowmage, that looks good. Are you going to do a seperate RS-25 as well? Also, I'm looking forward to the station parts, in particular the hub parts with docking ports pre-attached. My station design (look up Space Station Freedom) uses 6 hubs. When you consider that each hub has 6 docking ports... that is alot of parts. The truss sounds great too. I take it you'll be able to make a truss that resembles the function of the ISS truss with only a few parts? Will the solar arrays rotate along the axis of the truss like ISS does?
-
You know, if you make an ISS truss, you're pretty much required to make some solar arrays for it, right? Loving the work!

Oh wow, I just saw you updated models. These are seriously beautiful and I think they will be my new go to cockpits e: It makes me warm inside knowing that there's a part named after me. -
I don't suppose you need another tester do you? I scrutinise stuff pretty closely, and it would be interesting to work with these low part count creations.

Any way to combat this? Strip symmetry doesn't seem to deal with the issue as it says they are not in symmetry. The reason that the shuttle is pointed this way as it makes the launch work easier. e: It's editorextensions being a jerk. Disregard! -
EatVacuum, I'm liking that! Maybe take a gander at the mun to see how that looks with your changes? I might just switch up from KScale2 to 64k when/if you release your cfgs.

[1.3] kOS Scriptable Autopilot System v1.1.3.0

What is the command to unlock the steering? I'm finding that mechjeb's smart ASS SURF is better for a particular maneuver later on in the ascent profile. What I am doing right now is having my KOS program launch my shuttle, do the roll program and the gravity turn, as well as staging the SRBs. When a certain altitude is reached, the program ends and SURF takes over immediately, putting the shuttle into the non-inverted stage of the ascent. What I'm wanting to do instead is have the program unlock the steering at this point but maintain control of the throttle so that when 35km Periapsis is achieved, MECO happens. e: Actually, is there a wait until speed command? So I can have the steering unlock at say 2500m/s surface speed? -

Can someone have a punt at putting the hydrolox blue plumes used on the ven stock revamp config in this pack on the klockheed Martian ssme engines? Tried doing it myself and ended up with no effects on the nozzle... -

How possible would it be for KoS to sort out some sort of gimbal trim with standard gimbal engines? My shuttle is able to get to the SRB cutoff stage, but it's unable to adjust the shuttle engines for center of mass after SRB sep. I miss Gimbal Auto Trim so much!
