If you take a look down this page, you'll see in Branches an entry named scratchpad_3. From the explanation quoted below I assume it's QA test builds: "An application can have multiple branches. Other than the "public" branch, there can be other branches. Other branches are often used for storing an older version of the game for people to downgrade to, or for testing new patches/content."

Well, I'm here for more than a year and usually I'm the guy that only observes. But I had to comment on that just to encourage you... Also got the DLC on day one and I'm really looking forward to play you guys' missions, since I'm not so creative and can't come up with my own, especially regarding narratives. I was sitting on the Mun mining and refueling my Quantum Explorer spacecraft when this beautiful eclipse occurred blocking Kerbol light and draining the batteries. It was worth the shots though
