  1. Just went through a bunch of planets really quickly, and am currently en route to Reander; expect reports on Tyepolbynar, Wers, Egad, and Rik soon.
  2. PART 4.1: GO HANG A SALAMI, I'M A LASAGNA HOG! ... or visiting the moons of Valyr. Your choice.
  3. During one of sea circumnavigation attempts around Kerbin, my boat flew apart after its propellers started hitting the water at 150+ m/s. The service bay containing Jeb and a bunch of heavy parts made it out unharmed, but then began to rapidly sink beneath the water’s surface. Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue, but I had removed Jeb’s helmet since we were on Kerbin’s surface. He got crushed by the pressure once the thing hit a depth of 50 meters. TFW Jeb can survive crashing at 150 m/s but can’t survive 6 atm of pressure.
  4. No reason really- it’s just what I had done the previous two times, and my craft was powered entirely by RTGs anyways, so it wasn’t really an issue. I thought about going west with a solar powered design to save weight, but the power generation became inadequate at high latitudes.
  5. Well, that only took a month and a half. Kind of just posted this here and subsequently forgot about it. I guess now I'll finally showcase my first sub-6 hour run. Firstly, there's the new design for the KELP Lightning, and, quite frankly, I don't even remember exactly what I changed about it from the previous version, other than that whatever I did ended up increasing its top speed on water to about 188 m/s, compared to the 182 or so from before. The only thing I can think of is that I added an extra structural fuselage on the front two pontoons, which maybe increased buoyancy and helped me out? I also made a video about this one, but it's a music video only, with "Around the World" by Daft Punk as a quite fitting soundtrack. It shows some of the moments, such as the initial launch off the runway and into the water, that I didn't screenshot.
  6. Indeed, I would say that these factors together would more than make up the difference, especially considering how quickly the Brute breaks through the lower parts of the atmosphere once it gets going (by the time the first stage runs out of juice it's accelerating at almost 10 G's, which admittedly means I probably should have throttled back considerably to reduce losses to drag, which I'm pretty sure I did during the Valyr test). That extra third of atmospheric pressure would already be gone after ascending just a couple of kilometers, or literally just a few seconds after liftoff. I don't think my gravity turn would have made much of a difference, as I wasn't able to perform one before the first stage separation anyways- the rocket would flip, and even if that didn't happen, I'd lose too much speed to drag after second stage activation.
  7. Yea I’m going on the highway right now and I will have to take a break from the park and I’ll be there around noon time for the next few hours and I’ll probably just leave the house in a few hundred dollars so we can go to the store and get some stuff done before thanksgiving. Just repeatedly selected text suggestions from my phone
  8. Which is a bit weird, considering that in testing on Valyr, which has basically the same atmospheric pressure and gravity at sea level, the Brute was able to get into orbit from sea level just fine.
  9. Update: Graymun and Troymin landings completed, now in orbit of Derbin. Pics coming soon.
  10. Grape, because the rest all taste the same. Favorite type of asteroid?
