  1. Wow... I last posted in this thread over a year ago. A burnout from KSP and a lack of confidence in my writing (I think it's terrible, and nobody says otherwise) probably mean that the next story will be the last one I write for the KSP community (unless someone likes it) Thank you guys so much for the wisdom you have imparted on me, and the incredible things you have written. I can't thank you enough for being so welcoming back in my budding days as a writer. Good luck!
  2. Seen you around before you're older than I thought xd
  3. My basic Minmus career rocket is (from top down) Mk16 parachute Mk1 command pod Heat shield and decoupler FLT 200 tank Spark engine (plus batteries, science, landing gear and solar panels) One more FLT 400 Terrier engine Three FLT 400s LVT 45 engine Four Hammer boosters placed around the lower stage. Hope this helps. If not feel free to private message me for some help.
  4. Is there a 1.3.1 download for this? I seem to remember running on my old machine with 1.3.1
  5. Took me about 5 hours of gameplay to 'land' (at 40 m/s, and destroy the ship) Melnor Kerman survived though after EVA packing away in an Interstellar like sequence where the craft's rotation spun himaround, rendering the EVA pack useless. I battled to get him under control, and he bounced off the Mun at 4 m/s. Jeb came about 10 hours later in a modified version of the first lander with an extra cabin like Soyuz, on top. They returned home safely, and Melnor still holds the record for longest stay on another celestial body at 65 days 3 hours. (what can I say? I went to Minmus on a 27d mission and flew rockets into solar orbit before rescuing Melnor)
  6. New update?! WHEN WHERE WHAT WHY OOOOOH SHINY
  7. Sigh... I'm gonna ignore this and keep playing 1.3.1. It hasn't affected me yet so why worry now when you could be flying to Jool!
  8. This is almost word for word what I do! I cannot deal with my first early-game Jool probe taking 4 years to reach Jool - highly efficient launch vehicles for interplanetary vehicles and high-speed Hohmann transits are a must for me. My old launcher, the 1.25m Bradbury, transported a 800 kg Jool probe to the system in 3 years and 297 days. With my increased launch-window skill, I launched the same probe on the new, more efficient launcher, the 1.25m Orwell, and it reached Jool in 1 year and 319 days- almost two years out of the transfer time for a burn of only 500-700 more m/s! That probe got me to 1,756 science from 3 science on the eighth launch.
  9. I meet some criteria for Pro and some for Madlad. Level 4.5 it is then.
  10. No Time for Caution from the Interstellar soundtrack. I deliberately damaged an interplanetary craft and spun it up to high speeds when I had to Dock a Laythe SSTO to it. 'You can't dock with the Kraken 7 Jeb! It's impossible!' 'No. It's necessary.'
  11. My interplanetary career missions go like this (examples from current career) Duna is the subject of this list: Pilgrim program (probes) Pilgrim 2: flyby Duna and Ike Pilgrim 5: orbiter of Duna, mini Ike lander Pilgrim 7: orbiter for Ike, Duna landing Theta program (manned) pre-Mission 1: cargo launched to Duna, nuclear mothership assembly in orbit. Theta 1: Landing in the Midlands Sea: 40 day stay. Theta 2: Landing just below the North Pole. 25 day stay Theta 3: Landing in Duna Highlands, 37 day stay (last 8 days of mission aborted due to imminent lander damage) Theta 4: Landing 5km from the lip of the Western Canyon. 55 day stay Theta 5: Final mission: landing in Duna's Midlands. 45 day stay.
  12. First Kerbin orbiter probe, like Sputnik and Explorer I. Sorry for the confusion.
  13. @Raptor9 I am surprised you haven't posted the first Kerbin orbiter probe
  14. An hour of Jool maneuvers ruined when a time warp glitch flung my ship into a massive elliptical orbit with a periapsis in the atmosphere. 80 kilometres deep in the atmosphere. The craft disintegrated, and five total hours were rendered null and void >:(
  15. I want to use cockpits for a realistic feel: no kerbals sticking out of a craft. How much DV is required for a Tylo lander and a Laythe lander (separate)?
  16. @GRS Yeah... I am currently in the testing phase of my mission. I will send pics when done. I am stuck with fitting three landers on mothership: or even two creates asymmetric weight- Vall Bop and Pol lander weighs roughly 6t and Laythe lander (still under revision is closer to 15-20. I'm trying to get a realistic feel, so the nuclear mothership is being constructed in LKO. Any advice?
  17. Incidentally, does anyone have any visual mods for 1.6.1? Considering jumping from 1.3.1 to a new version for the first time in a year.
  18. Extended space travel? Getting to and crashing on the Mun only takes a couple of days!
  19. Um is itokay to play solely as a story based nation? Not too keen on BDarmory tbh
