  1. It loads when it loads - at least didn't freeze. I get 10-30+ fps with KSS and other mods installed, low but playable. Please wait for a major KSP physics engine re-write for AAA type performance. If you're worried about load times and FPS, there are other games that do that very well. @Bonbo: I'm not so worried about the micro-stutter. I'm confident if the KSS dev team can fix this if they have enough available volunteer time.
  2. @Mr Betelgeuse: I was able to take games saved without KSS, move the Kerbals to the Astronaut Complex, move all ships to kerbal orbit, install KSS, then continue where I left off. Convenient KSS .8 was released about the same time I was ready for a manned mission to Duna. I find KSS fully playable even with many other mods installed. I don't think KSP is designed to be so big and it was made by a small team with low resources, so I'm just happy it at least works - personally think it's the best game EVER and KSS makes an already huge game a lot bigger and a lot more interesting. 50 years old so I've played MANY. KSP is now owned by Take 2, a major publisher, and they have deep pockets to make necessary development investments. So I believe/hope the KSP 2.0 will much more scalable with load-balanced multi-core physics and DX-12 / Vulcan that can make good use of a beefy rig. For now, I don't think a beefy rig will help much since others said it's a mostly physics game and I think it only uses 1 CPU core - but enough RAM will help a lot. I have played KSS .7.3 on a low-end Celeron notebook with 8 gigs RAM so I don't think there is any big leaking problem. My 2 cents worth.
  3. I was able to find/repeat/fix (work around) the speed problem (works for me). After installing the KSS .8, everything including time runs SLOW and sluggish like 4-7 Earth seconds for every Kerbin second. To fix, do an in atmosphere flight, warp the speed time to 4x, back to 1x, DONE - do something else. After an in atmosphere warp, seconds go by at a normal rate and controls run normally. The FPS didn't improve much, but everything seems to run much faster - like faster than KSS .7.3 EDIT: Even the 100% stock game has the same problem. Just more obvious while using KSS.
  4. I'm sure it's .8 and running on KSP 1.4.2. I'll re-download and try again. EDIT: What is the KopernicusExpansion folder inside the KSS_0.8_BASIC.zip for? Can I just use the Kopernicus version for my KSP ? EDIT2: Ok. I did a 100% clean STOCK install and installed the KSS_0.8_BASIC with minimum mods. Now I get a more decent 19fps and all runs a lot smoother ! I have a 6 core haswell Xeon, 16 gigs RAM, and a Nvidia 680. The 680 is enough for Witcher 3 and GTA V to run on high settings. I think StarCrusher96 has something better than a 680 and it's time for me to upgrade. I'll systematically install mods 1 by 1 and see if there's a conflict.
  5. KSS .8 feedback: First I totally thank the team for making the whole thing and releasing a pre-version so people can get started sooner. Here is what I notice. The GOOD news is all KSS .8 (from the zip files) works with 1.4.2 on the first install using the newest Kopernicus - ModularFlightIntergrator - ModuleManager from CKAN. I also suggest using KSP 1.4.2 with KSS .8 if you're using KSP-IE, Near Future, USI, etc. because those other mods just MOSTLY work with 1.4.3 - it will take even longer for those mods to install easily with CKAN. With KSS installed (even only the basic part) EVERYTHING runs 10x slower, slower fps 10fps instead of 100fps, slower time (1 second of Kerbin time takes 10 seconds of Earth time) , slower controls, etc. Reducing the graphics to min didn't change anything. Also removing EVE and Scatterer didn't make things any faster. Kerbin turns all black sometimes with scatterer (it seems). I just remove the /GameData/KSS folder then everything runs fast and clean again. Objects in the Mun orbit disappear without a manual save AND I'm not able to do any asteroid/solar missions (these are old bugs). I understand this is not a final version and maybe I'm using the wrong version of Kopernicus even if it seems to work. I see clouds on kerbin (with the EVE mod and the zip file), but not Duna. I also notice the clouds on Jool don't move - so I think I'm doing something wrong. Now I'm currently running only the Basic and Extended parts and ready for a manned mission to Duna. Just slide the pizza under the door.
  6. What version of KSP do you recommend for KSS .8? It looks like EVE and Scatterer only works up to KSP 1.4.2.
  7. So much hype to share! Yes, I use KSP-IE, Near Future, USI, etc. a lot so I can get the all the cool KSS systems - without using parts that seem magically good. I'm a professional programmer and I have some time, so I'll be happy to trial the engines. I'm not very familiar with mods, but I can check on making a KSP-IE patch. Please send a PM if interested. From what I notice, He3 is VERY difficult to harvest/mine, more difficult than antimatter, and is not found on Kerbin. So any plausible way to harvest He3 will help a LOT. https://github.com/FractalUK/KSPInterstellar/wiki/Helium-3
  8. JadeOfMaar: Please elaborate. Are the new engines like the nuclear ramject (reactor and nozzle combined) or the thermal ramjet that requires a thermal reactor? Can you use atmosphere as a propellant to save on fuel - your SSTO has no air intake so I guess not. Which mod are/will be these engines included in? Anyway, this looks awesome, thanks!
  9. Thanks. You can load the missions by installing Contract Configurator [v1.25.0] https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/91625-142-contract-configurator-v1250-2018-04-15/ Then put these .cfg files in the /GameData/ folder.
  10. Underwater Missions !! These are missions that can be used on Water Worlds or Worlds with Oceans. I made some simple examples. More can be done. Recover a Kerbal from a water surface.
  11. you're talking to the KSS planet expert? I was replying to StarCrusher96 because he wanted exoplanet specific missions. I'll let StarCrusher96 "the KSS Creator" decide how the mod is used and who is able to talk about it. I'm assuming nothing.
  12. Let me try to make some simple missions for oceans on Kerbin first, then get fancier and may include Eve, Laythe, etc. . I may need help later from someone that understands the exoplanets and planet specific missions later.
  13. Ok. I'll read about the Contract Configurator mod and see what I can do. If useful, I hope it can be added to KSS.
  14. Contracts can be written using this it seems. https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/91625-142-contract-configurator-v1250-2018-04-15/ I think a more realistic mission is the science missions (science at the sea surface or x,y,z underwater location). Bring water and sea floor samples. Deliver something to x location. Like JadeOfMaar said - except for the ore & plant flag missions. Lots or ore is needed just to get a vessel to go down until there's a Kerbal submarine ballast.. It was fun to just "flying" around underwater. I am a professional programmer and I have some time - is there a need for water-world (and "normal" oceans) missions?
  15. The idea of water planets is great. But how to get missions that require water exploration (A reason to land on the water surface and go underwater)? Able to get rocks or plants underwater? Are these possible with a mod ? I hope to see some water missions. I made a simple submarine, but didn't see much underwater on Kerbin. I also made a simple sea plane which was needed to rescue a Kerbal on the surface of a ocean. But I don't think that Kerbal was meant to be in the ocean and the mission was bug.
  16. Both the SpaceY Heavy Lifters 1.17.2 and the Modular Rocket Systems 1.13.2 seems to work OK with KSP 1.4.2, I totally appreciate you developing this. But CKAN gets confused easily and thinks they only work with KSP 1.4.1. The SpaceY and Modular Rockets makes building large rockets much easier.
  17. I just checked KSS .7.3 and it does NOT seem to work with KSP 1.4.2 - even with the 1.4.2 version of Kopernicus and not meant to. I did check http://kerbal-star-systems.wikia.com/wiki/Planned_Features and there was no mention of version compatibility. Looking forward to KSS .8 ! I hope it will work with KSP 1.4.2 and the development continues..
  18. Bingo! You get a full thumbs up LIKE. Strange I don't remember needing this before. @Terwin "The first posting in this thread has a link to the github repository where Roverdude deploys his releases. " This was the first place I looked - maybe I didn't check hard enough. I only found the .50 version before and checked Curseforge. I see the .55 now on the first post - Curseforge still has .50. Anyway, I appreciate all the replies and I'll buy Roverdude a beer just for his awesomeness !
  19. Hi. I'm using KSP 1.4.2. Where can I download the MKS 0.55.0.0 and USITools 0.12.0.0 I can only find a curseforge/spacedock download link for MKS .50 and USITools .8. I also have no habitation functionality (defaults to indefinite ) - I think because I need ALL the USI mods to make this work. I also found the MKS .55 in CKAN, but I can't download because of a "Ground Construction" requirement and that only supports 1.4.1. EDIT: I found it here in the Changelog: https://spacedock.info/mod/162 But not sure of the Ground Construction will work with 1.4.2 EDIT 2: After installing MKS 0.55, looks like nothing happened and not getting an error. habitation is still indefinite with a low-tech hitchhiker storage container.. . I think I'm missing something else. This is my CKAN showing installed USI mods. I installed the MKS manually.
  20. Thanks for the help. I understand there's no CKAN support, but I got confused on finding the Dynamic Battery Storage since CKAN worked before. EDIT: I found it inside the 10.0 zip file Extras folder like you said.
  21. Hi thread. The Near Future is awesome as usual. But is the Near Future Electrical Extras: Decaying RTGs still being used? I can't find info. It seems to require a dependency called "Dynamic Batter Storage" that doesn't seem to exist anymore. But I was able to install the Electrical Core from CKAN. I can't wait to try the centrifuge parts - realistic artificial gravity I was waiting for since the 2001 Odyssey film. !!
