  1. Wow, the flight through the parking garage... And I thought the bridge was hard.
  2. "Absolutely. Kerbal is a super interesting piece of world-building, almost like a FromSoft game. Things in the world are teaching you the lore, not just dialog. That will continue as we add new parts and celestial bodies, but also missions that might ask you to go visit some of those easter eggs...." I think the developers need to be very careful about this. KSP 1 had all sorts of easter eggs and teasers, but at the end of the day, we still knew little about Kerbals, and that generated all sorts of fun speculation and discussion. It also allowed us to fill in the blanks and incorporate what we thought was important into our own missions. For example, I never worry about Kerbals going into space for years, because in my mind, Kerbals are very good at zoning out (almost a self-hypnosis) for years on end. There is no lore for this, nor any reason for me to do this other than my imagination. But I can do that, because it has been left for me to do so. To cite an example from movies, I found the backstory in Alien Covenant of the Space Jockey ulitmately disappointing. The mystery was far more intriguing than what I was eventually given. Less is more. Too much lore will make things too restrictive and impose an outside narrative on a sandbox game.
  3. True that. They should never destroy craft. I found the same issue with docking ports.
  4. I was able to do it in KSP 1, so looking forward to seeing it in KSP2. We did a challenge. In my case, I launched from the Dessert Airfield, which had a slightly higher elevation. I was unable to do it from the KSC, though others managed it.:
  5. I got up close to Kerbol before they turn the heat on.
  6. Decided to give this a try. This is the last image before Kerbol disappeared from view. I am now very much inside it. Though I think this image from further back is the better picture:
  7. The symmetry is concentrated on the one part and not on the whole craft. Interstingly, it was a problem on the nose cone, but worked fine when I tried attaching the strut to the fuel tank instead.
  8. I understand the idea, but it is really annoying on long burns. It slows the timewarp down minutes before the fuel runs out. I am simply trying to orbit Kerbol. I have a 9 minute burn and then another stage. I don't need timewarp slowed until I actually run out of fuel. All this is doing is making me spend time.
  9. I reverted my launch, and this is where I ended up: File here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hc8isdlcEeicnsi13vPlebRJ_2LbqL31/view?usp=share_link
  10. I just discovered you can deploy a chute, cut it, repack it and redeploy it all while falling. Those Kerbals are very talented and quick.
  11. The ground vanished and I found myself travelling to the centre of the planet. As you can see from the image, I am over 12,000 metres below the surface. The craft eventually came out the other side and is now on an escape trajectory out of the solar system (see bottom image). Here is a link to the save: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BLzIk3IClnp6EaKViC0OpU_IfXcTxyZc/view?usp=share_link
  12. The problem is that the sound effect kept going as well. It was this constact clacking--and I was enjoying the music up to that point.
  13. The notification keeps popping up that my lander is out of electricity. Evidently, the landing gear has blocked the solar panels. No matter how many times I close it, it comes back on. I cannot turn them off. I'm going to have to destroy the lander just to get it to stop.
  14. I think this may have been reported before, so sorry if this is redundant. I landed on Pol, and I am not touching the ground.
  15. Went to the Jool system. The decoupler would not decouple for the lander, so I just brought the whole thing down, and somehow it survived. Not sure why it is floating vertically...
  16. I don't know if this is unique to Val, but I am currently orbiting it and my orbit is decaying, as though there was atmospheric drag, even though there is not. I am in a very low orbit, PE was 7000 and AP was 14000, but it has since gone lower. Once I get above a certain altitude it stops. Not completely sure what the cutoff is.
  17. This is my plea to take the maneuver node UI, dispose of it and start over. I apologize, as I know a lot of work has gone into this, but I am very, very frustrated. I've spent most of my time on Kerbin, but on my few adventures to other planets, the game has just had the wind taken out of my sails. I really think the maneurving in KSP2 is a major step backwards. The UI is cluttered and more importantly, it is very difficult to use. I have been trying to fly to Dres. I try, fail, give up and come back thinking things will be better. They are not. I've been recording my play, and from the time I achieved orbit around Kerbol until I gave up trying to get an encounter with Dres, I spent 15 minutes of real time. Wondering if I am just terrible, I opened KSP1. I recorded my progress. It took me 30 seconds to set a maneuver and get an encounter. So, it is not operater error. The system is actively fighting me. Also, compare the readability of KSP2 compared to KSP1. The text in KSP1 is clean, and the whole area does not feel cluttered. Note also how simple and useful the encounter nodes are in KSP1. I have no idea what the 1A and 1B etc are supposed to indicate.
  18. I've tried several times to put this rocket-- or a variant of it--in orbit with no success. I have 8X symmetry with radial decouplers. I've tried both the large and extra large, and they always seem to destroy the vessel--at least when attached to a dumpling tank. Here is a link to the vessel: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-xN1xC7er8OgDrJ-xwvWqjPAAkReP8yu/view?usp=share_link Here is video of it as well:
  19. Many mods over time found their way into the base game of KSP1. How will you decide what to include in the base game versus what you intend to leave to modders?
  20. Thanks for the update. Moving forward, would it be possible to have the AMAs at different times each time? Many of us are in different timezones that can make it difficult to attend live.
  21. @SoulCandy Here is a link to the build on KSP Builds: https://kspbuilds.com/build/95c487e2-658c-41f1-94a8-fd5566
  22. This was not meant to be a laundry list, but the VAB has been a nightmare this evening. Here is a video of me trying to build this rocket. 1. I cannot trash a part--notice a part is always stuck to the cursor 2. The struts will not attach 3. I cannot launch 4. Notice the weird issue with the nose cones 5. Not shown in video, but I had a subassembly that I tried attaching to a radial attachment point. When I tried attaching it, it scrambled all the parts into weird angles. I had to dismantle it and start over. 6. Also not shown: earlier, when trying to attach the struts to the nose cones, I got 8x symmetry on each nose cone (as opposed to 8 x for just the whole craft). I then tried to exit the game after saving and restart. Not only did the problems persist, but my ship reverted to an earlier save (which is what you see here). I've uploaded the files to Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Nc6clJgnKzK96sQV3XODBqqRFZqbYuvm?usp=share_link
  23. I finally got there. The ship bounced on landing, but that is okay, because Bill decided he did not want to pay attention to directions any longer (as in WASD suddenly stopped working), so I could not have got him back in the ship anyway.
