  1. Have been on a grind on my 1.8.1 JNSQ save the past couple weeks. Most recent order of operations is construction of this here "Long Distance Crew Transport." Plan to put into action at the next Kerbin > Duna transfer window. Have been segmenting into bits and pieces and putting on launchers. Figure launching the fuel tanks & engines is gonna be the tricky part. Design is a little funky but it serves its purpose. Included are cargo bays with Duna & Ike landers respectfully.
  2. Evening folks. Looking to have my username changed to "Mister_Casual97". Thanks.
  3. I have returned from YET ANOTHER of my long hiatuses! I summon @The Minmus Derp
  4. So a few days back I mentioned that the Kerbin to Duna transfer window was approaching. well, it's about time we got that mission done. Step one is to launch a Commsat to orbit between Kerbin and duna, deemed KerbCom 1 Both of these missions are literally the exact same craft, launched on the exact same lifter, the only difference being the location launched to. Because of the early launch, almost 120 days before the transfer window, KerbCom 1 will be the first probe outside Kerbin's SOI. And that marks our first probe around Kerbol! I'll keep you guys updated on the mission when I get around to launching the main probe to duna.
  5. A Duna mission coming to a thread near you... Coming sometime today or tomorrow probably
  6. Well, it's time for the bore-fest that's going to be getting this severely under-thrusted lander back to Kerbin. Bye bye, Minmus! next step is to perform a mid-course correction to get a mun encounter to help slow Jeb and his craft down. Next move is to use up most of the remaining fuel to slow down, since I gave the heat shield a low amount of ablator. almost there, Jeb! And there we go, safe and sound! So, mission summary... 835.3 Science! Whooooee! That'll help with research. So Jeb is back home after a long time in space. We're glad to have him back, but there's work to do.
  7. -Bursts through door- Some BODY once told me the wooooorld is gonna roll me @Jacke
  8. Today we embark to minmus with Minmal 1. Launch to LKO went as planned, now Jeb just has to fix his inclination perform the Trans-Minmal injection. The lander stage uses the "ant" engine, so it has a pitifully low TWR. It literally has a TWR of 1.7... On Minmus. Jeb's gonna stay on the surface for a few days, stay tuned for his trip home!
  9. Not if I have anything to say about it! @FahmiRBLXian
  10. Haha, no. @Vanamonde will be here eventually.
  11. Today I attempt to get that minmus orbit contract done, so let's see how that goes. Launch was a bit wonky as the SRB took a small moment to get to full thrust, but sorted itself out. I managed to lose connection to Kerbin during my injection burn, and the engine got stuck on. I ended up completely reversing my orbit, and wasting about 600 m/s Dv. Thankfully the probe has a lot of extra Dv anyways, and reversing my orbit actually makes it easier to get into the polar orbit the contract desires. The probe made the marked orbit with plenty fuel to spare. I thought about using the extra fuel to land, but that can be for another time. I've learned my lesson about doing an injection burn behind a body without any Commsats, so I'm going to leave the probe in orbit as a relay for now.
  12. So about that minmus lander/orbiter, that mission is done, here's the overview. I separated the fairing a little early, but that was okay, as the little probe still made orbit. Do not worry, my friends, I meant to put it on its side. It wasn't very stable on the landing legs, so putting it down on the solar panels was the better option, lest I wanted it to fall over without control and explode. So mission summary, it didn't have enough Dv to make the orbit the contract wanted, so I took it straight to landing. Thankfully it was worth it for the science, So I'm happy with that. I might launch another one of these on a larger lifter to get it that extra distance, but until then, this is what we got.
