  1. That's my point - they seem to do it differently and, if it will work the way I think it will, both mods may actually complement each other. I hope it will be easy to enable limited ignitions + durations with RF installed. I definitely would like to give it a try.
  2. Hmmm, so I'm already thinking how to keep these new features (which I love) together with Real Fuels. I dunno if you know this mod but it implements a finite number of ignitions based on the engine type and fuels used. So your basic kerolox booster gets only 1 ignition and that's it, or maybe 2 when it's configured to run on hypergols (if this is an option at all). Will this conflict with Kerbalism or is your number of rated ignitions a little bit different mechanism that will care very little about restrictions put by RF? For example what would possibly happen if this LV-T05 "Cogswell" was configured to have 1 ignition only in RF, while being rated for 17 ignitions by Kerbalism? Are these 17 ignitions set only for engine failure probability calculations or would Kerbalism try to override RF and force actual 17 ignitions in this engine?
  3. Can you tell something on how engine reliability and ignitions will work? Will engines now have a limited number of ignitions like in Real Fuels or will the number be unlimited and the only limiting factor will be failure probability reaching 100% at some point (unless engine explodes earlier)?
  4. Maybe make it an unlockable upgrade, like science modules for probes. No need for fancy tech in the early game. Space Exploration would be a good tech node for this IMO.
  5. Hi @navot. I've just noticed that the shroud does not occlude light, so any solar panels hidden beneath it work with no problem. Do you think you could fix it? Rgds. EDIT: so it seems to happen when you unload the ship (in my case, I leave to the Tracking Station). The shroud blocks light when the ship is originally loaded but stops doing it the moment the ship gets unloaded and keeps letting light in even when the ship gets loaded again. So I'm not sure ATM if it's a bug in your mod, maybe it's Kerbalism, which comes with a number of electrics related bugs of it's own.
  6. Hi, would it be possible to add in a future release an option to disable auto targeting for dish antennas not ball mounted on a mast (so basically all but HG-5 in the stock game). This would add a fun challenge for kOS users and would make HG-5 an interesting option even in the late game. This would require constant antenna tracking in the 3D space, so I guess it would be much more complicated than how it works now, but maybe it's doable?
  7. Hi, I created a config for Pug engine from Restock+ mod. I configured it as a pressure-fed engine with 200 liters integrated pressurized tank. However, if I connect it to a default, non-pressurized tank, it will draw fuel from this tank as well. Is this a limitation of the mod or a bug? I expected it to ignore non-pressurized tanks in the fuel flow.

  9. Hello, it seems that FAR does not see the shroud. If you switch to transsonic design tab in FAR UI and plot rocket's curvature, you'll see it does not follow the shroud (but whatever is behind it). Procedural fairings work OK with FAR, so I guess it's a solvable problem for procedurally generated shrouds as well. Would you kindly take a look at this problem? EDIT: just realised I asked this question in March, but I got no answer so anyway... Maybe it's an easy fix.
  10. Yup, now it works. I tried the latest build earlier but it crashed on start-up every time when adding experiments to the Hitchhiker. But now it works perfectly.
  11. Hi, I use KSP 1.7 with Kerbalism 3.0 alpha and Remote Tech among others. I get full science reward for every experiment right after transmitting the first bits of data. So e.g. a Magnetic Scan, which should take 30 days to complete, gets completed in 1 second. Any idea why? Is it because of Remote Tech? Or is it the way things work for now in alpha?
  12. Hi, I hope this ain't a dumb question but I don't know much about inner workings of KSP. Am I right that models have drag cubes that the game uses to calculate drag or is it FAR only? Anyway, I seem to have a problem with Restock Mk1 pod. Without an additional heat shield it seems to have very little drag, e.g. when returning from 80k Kerbin orbit it hits the ground at 600+ m/s, about 3x the usual terminal velocity. I play KSP 1.7 and use FAR. Is it possible that drag problems are caused by ReStock?

  14. I hate to be this guy but when can we expect release? This science overhaul is such a refreshing change to the gameplay that I just can't wait to start another career.
  15. Any chance Kerbalism affects ΔV calculations? I updated Kerbalism and OhScrap! recently and now VAB ΔV calculations are off the charts (looks like Isp of engines is affected by rocket parts, for example adding 4 basic fins to my rocket bumped the already ridiculous 6k ΔV to 13k ).
  16. No, you will need Real Fuels for this. This mod only adds additional config files for engines from other mods. For stock game Real Fuels is enough. EDIT: well, it isn't. My bad.

  18. It looks like FARc does not see decoupler shroud. This is how FARc sees cross sectional area with DS shroud and and this is how it sees stock engine shroud. Can anything be done about this?
  19. What I have i mind is even simpler. I dunno a technical term for it, I think it's called Automatic-Line-Of-Sight-Guidance, where both tracking and guidance are performed by ground installations. The missile is kinda like an RC plane - it has no means of self guidance. This video from the 60s explains it. In-game it would mean that the T0/T1 core would work just as a regular core, as a ground based operator could run programs just like a Kerbal on-board a vessel (because the actual core would actually be a ground based IBM 704 style monstrosity, the in-game part would just serve as an interface for the player and could imitate a dedicated antenna for example). But a working connection would be required to transmit commands to a vessel. Without a connection it would be like trying to send commands to RCS thrusters on a ship with disabled RCS - the script would try to do it's thing but with no effect.

After discussion about kOS core placement in the Tech Tree in Probes Before Crew mod (where the 0.625 core is available at Start, making the 1.25 core available later virtually obsolete) I got an idea of a new part for kOS and I hope this thread is the right place to share it. PBC mod places the 0.625 core at Start to let players toy with small sounding-type rockets before advancing to bigger ones. In stock kOS probe cores come a bit late and for a good reason, as they are a very powerful tool. However, how about a Tier 0 or Tier 1 part that would simulate early, ground based computer guidance? The part would be small enough to fit on 0.625 or smaller rockets, maybe radial. It would give an access to the terminal just as a standard core but: - it would have no internal storage - it would require connection to KSC (script would still run in the background until failure but the core would not be able to control the ship) - it would be a subject to signal delay This last thing would be quite hard to implement I imagine but if sensor readings like radar alt were delayed too, it would add a very interesting programming challenge for someone wanting to make a lunar landing with ground based guidance. On Hard setting the 1.25 core is the only one available for quite a long time, so it's the core of choice for early Mun missions. It's cumbersome and heavy enough to make a laggy, unreliable ground controlled core an interesting option.
  21. Sorry, it comes with Real Fuels (and it Coxswain, I misspelled it). I thought it's stock. I play on hard, so probably lower than usual, so yeah, maybe that's what I asked for. Anyway, that's just an opinion of someone who uses Real Fuels and will use your mod from now on. First RCS available at T4 becomes a challenge on Hard difficulty and I'll probably move it a bit lower to T3. BTW, I dunno if the only reason RCS thrusters come so late in stock is that they are not really necessary until you research a docking port or upgrade the Astronaut Complex (which allows for rescue missions). I don't think they would make the game any easier at lower tiers for someone who plays with stock reaction wheels settings.
  22. Separatrons, as all solid fuel engines in RF, have only one ignition, while Coxwain has 4, not to mention later orbital engines, which have 24. So I don't think separatrons will do. My bad, it's T5 indeed. And I just noticed I do have a linear RCS at T4 thanks to RLA mod. But I'm still a bit stuck anyway. I'm short of 30 Science to unlock it, I milked all the science possible with thermometer, goo, geiger counter and pressure sensor and the next contract requires me to get to a stable orbit and then recover the vessel. Without RCS it's kinda hard to ignite the second stage for orbital insertion and then again to deorbit the ship. Nope. And unless I miss something I'd say this mod is unplayable without RSC for reasons I explained in my answer to u/lordcirth (unless one uses reaction wheels to rotate the ship every time before ignition, which looks kinda silly and may not be even possible with Mandatory RCS mod).
  23. Hey _Zee, just discovered your mod, and it's amazing. Just started a new career and it's almost like playing KSP for the first time. I have some suggestions for early techs already: - thing very important for me as a Real Fuels user: in RF liquid fuel engines are subject to ullage, which means that in zero gravity environment they need a little push before they can be started. I usually use RCS thrusters for this. In my recent game I got stuck, because all RCS thrusters are T6 tech, way beyond my reach, so I can't progress beyond stable orbit mission. RF users will need at least linear RCS thruster as soon as Coxwain engine. - I'd switch 0.6m and 1.25m kOS cores. 0.6m core is smaller and lighter than 1.25m and makes it virtually obsolete from the beginning. I think 1.25m is available first in kOS for a reason - it's supposed to represent older, bigger and heavier electronics. I guess your idea was to allow players to use it with smaller rockets first, but early suborbital missions are so simple that they don't really require automation. kOS cores become useful in orbital missions, for which 1.25 engines are a must anyway (at least with stock parts).
