  1. Hi. I own a PS5 and a Series X and am thinking of getting back into KSP. I already own the original XB1 version so am entitled to the free update. However the Enhanced Complete bundle is currently on offer on PS5 for just slightly more than the cost of the two DLC packs that I would need to buy for the Xbox. I’d heard that the PS5 version is entirely native code so my question is this …. Is it therefore more efficient and is there any significant difference between the two next gen console versions? Would I be better off getting the PS5 version or does it really make no difference?
  2. Thanks so much. That link is going to prove invaluable.
  3. Ah ok. I'm playing campaign mode. So to get prograde and retrograde to help with orbit I just need to get there?
  4. Hi, I'm wanting to get into orbit but I''m confused about my SAS system. In the tutorials, even intermediate flight, when I click on SAS I get a whole load of buttons to click on to the left of the navball- prograde, normal etc. However, on the rockets I build I only get one button - the one which duplicates the SAS on or off function I don't get the other 8 or so buttons. This is even when I create exactly the same ship,as in the intermediate flight tutorial. What am I doing wrong?
  5. Thanks for the input everyone..On balance I think I'll stick with hard and see how far I can get. If nothing else it may prove a good way to encourage me to think carefully about properly researching and testing each next step. I like MagicFireStarter's idea of setting up a pseudo governmental grant so I might give that a try if things get too hairy.
  6. I bought Kerbal a few days ago and I've had a couple of restarts because I really can't decide whether I want to tackle the campaign at hard or normal. I'm veering towards Hard because I want to feel like I've earned my successes. When I tried Normal I was dismayed at how quick and easy the money and science was building up, especially with the ability to revert flights (which I tried but felt like I was cheating). I've started a new campaign on Hard, but I'm still concerned that I may be punching above my weight, setting myself up for an early failure as I blow all my cash on test launches. Is it possible to work through the campaign on hard with a little care and perseverance, or is it really just for hardcore players with several years under their belts?
  7. Many thanks to all. The rock and water analogy really helped. It's so blindingly obvious once you get it.
  8. Great answers. Thanks everyone. It looks like I've got a lot to learn before making that giant leap for Kerbalkind
  9. l've just started playing Kerbal and as someone whose grasp of physics is based on a long-forgotten secondary school education in the 1980s, it took a while to sink in that the command module slows down on re-entry, even though I'd played tutorial 4 at least twice. It seems so counter-intuitive to me but now I've got that into my head my Kerbal survival rate has improved dramatically. I'm curious as to the reason why? Is it something to do with atmospheric pressure, the shape of the module, what? It seems this game is going be a great way to learn all the stuff I should have been paying attention to back in the 80s
  10. Thanks for the advice. The mission I was trying required altitude below 16000 which was definitely the case. I didn't notice any messages popping up although I could easily have missed them. Most significantly, I was indeed using a rocket so that's probably where I was having so much trouble. If these missions aren't worth doing I'll just focus on getting into orbit. Time to really study those tutorials.
  11. Hi, I feel really stupid asking this but this my first time with the game and I can't seem to complete the observational missions on kerbal. Ive worked out how to set a navigation point for my current mission on the navball, and I can guide my craft to the point where the yellow circle is directly over where the research area is supposed to be, but when I do my crew report all I get is a comment about kerbal grassland, or kerbal coastline, or "I can see my house from here". The actual research mission never gets fulfilled. I'm tempted just to give up and focus on getting into orbit, but I suspect the lessons these early missions are trying to teach me will become useful later on. What am I doing wrong?
