  1. It\'s shame because there\'s always one idiot on reddit that gives us crap over it.

    http://redd.it/rdr3p

I mean, I can handle the criticism, but that guy just chafes my ass.

I think I agree with some of his points on a basic level, but he\'s too busy being an asshat to articulate them in a constructive way.

To be fair, it is clear that the team in general is inexperienced at authoring comics, but why anyone would hold that against you five strips into the your first comic ever is beyond me.

His point about Bill and Bob being indistinguishable actually reminds me of a comic strip I drew in grade school about two space aliens who observed Earth, made witty (for an eleven-year-old) comments, and had silly adventures. The two were physically identical and could only be identified by their personalities. After a few experimental strips similar to your own, one became a sarcastic jerkass and the other a ditzy loon, much like Bill and Bob currently.

  2. I know you can rotate an elliptical orbit\'s major axis prograde by either burning upwards at apoapsis or downwards at periapsis.

Basically this mimics the effects of temporarily reducing or amplifying (respectively) the force of gravity, circularizing your flight path for a given orbital speed. When you stop burning, your original elliptical orbit will resume, but in a new orientation.

I don\'t know how to swing the major axis retrograde, but I\'m sure it\'s possible, if not very efficient.

  3. hey i thought of a challenge: can anybody improve on the loading screen? (provided he lets you) and make it as awesome or awesomer (i declare that as a word) than the Franklin/tricia/??? picture? because to be blunt, it kinda looks better than the original loading screen, except the original has Jeb (sorry if insulted anyone or hurt anyones feelings)

I like the style of the original. Its roughness is in keeping with the footage it\'s parodying.

Also, her name is so not Tricia. :P

I\'m not partial to the name either. Too obvious a reference...

  4. I\'d still prefer that Stage Left was looking at her face and how awesome/beautiful/Kerbal/crazy/Jebedinah she\'s being, but making an image I could enjoy out of that is no mean feat.

I tried that. The thing is, his current eyeline indicates that he\'s taking advantage of the situation to sneak peeks, rather than being genuinely impressed at her badassitude. The fact that he\'s willing to do this despite the enormous peril he\'s in makes it all the funnier.

Took me forever to get his shit-eating grin right, but when I zoomed out, it was hysterical. Had to leave it in :D.

  5. With the official release just around the corner (hopefully), and because the original loading screen was so damn awesome (salutations, Riess), I decided to take a stab at one myself.

Note the blue suits this time around.

Also, I thought this was pretty funny, so yeah.

So are there going to be any female kerbals? I\'d laugh my ass off if one of the crewmembers was female and the other two spent the entire flight just ogling her while she just calmly ignored them ::)

    Anyway, enjoy!

  6. Took the liberty. Hope you don\'t mind.

Far superior to an attempted vectorization IMO. Basically the same style I used for my drawing of the Tracking Station.

How are the current Kerbal Comics drawn, by the way? A combination illustrator/photoshop or something?

There was a discussion a couple pages ago about female Kerbals? I think we\'ve got it right with those last couple sketches.

It was something I wanted to address with this sketch. The few fem-Kerbal attempts I\'ve seen have struck me as far too 'girly'; lots of exaggerated tertiary sex characteristics slathered on.

Subtlety is key here. Rounding out the jawline was really all I changed structurally. Longer hair + a few eyelashes chiseled in took it the rest of the way.

  7. Aaaaaand... stop.

That\'s as far as I got in an hour.

    Not very impressive.

If you\'d like me to help out with the comic, I\'d probably be better off doing storyboards or linework that can be colored/vectorized by someone else. I know some webcomics already work this way; Girl Genius for example.

It already looks like you have an established style though, so that would be unnecessarily redundant.

Check with your artist and find out where the current bottlenecks in his workflow are; find out what he needs me to do, if anything.

    Cheers.

  8. I don\'t have 24hr access to high-end art programs at the moment, but yes, I\'m familiar enough with Illustrator to maybe vectorize this. Although, Sordid appears much more familiar with color imaging than I.

I\'m sitting in a graphic design class right now, and we\'ve just been cut loose to work on our next project. I\'ll see what I can do in the next hour :).
