  1. While there are significant issues with the LM-S landing site that requires abandoning the base (i.e., shouldn't have landed on towards the  bottom of a hill), I feel like this is a good proof of concept for LM constructed bases. My next questions are a.) how to build LESA and successfully get a Molab tractor from the top of the lander to the ground, and b.) what to do for an unmanned supply vehicle? A Saturn 1B and a cargo LM can land ~2.5 - 3 tons on the munar surface, which is good enough for supplies and scientific equipment, but insufficient to land new modules or construction materials. ETS and plenty of rocket designs would work, but I want to do this in a semi-roleplay fashion with only the rockets available in the early 70s.

  2. I don't know about stock balance, but the J-2X was supposed to have an ISP of 448 and a thrust of 1,307 kN. If you use the 1/4 thrust heuristic, then you'd get stats of ISP 448, a thrust of 327 kN. I think the engine would still be useful if you nerfed it to an ISP of 448 and a thrust of ~330 - 350kN. Personally, I've noticed that it's a bit overpowered when building Saturn Mk2 replicas in JNSQ (using NFLV and the KR-1 boar for the 1st stage).

Hey sorry to bother you guys, but does anyone know of a mod for the ETS Minotaur parts, or at least something similar?

KNES has “Minotaur” parts, but they are just a cargo version of the MRK named in honour of the Minotaur.

However I’ve seen this floating around. It was posted to the KSP subreddit like 7 years ago. If anyone knows what mod was used here that would be a great help for the next Mission to Freedom - XSVO33z.jpg

    Thanks :)

I'm pretty sure that this is a 3D render that was never made in KSP.

By default, it's 3.75\5.625. However, there is a patch in BDB Extras that rescales it back to "standard" BDB scale - 4.375\6.25. Apollo itself is not rescaled and stays at 2.5m. S-IV top diameter is also stays at 2.5m.

You can expect revamped Saturn to be about this in size\scale:

Using the x0.64 heuristic, Apollo should stay at a diameter of 2.5, so that scale is correct.

Not to hand, but it's mostly Titan LDC parts: DCSS and interstage adapter on top, the white intertank is a short LDC-LF3300 fuel tank with the "straight" style switch and it has a Cryoengines CR-68 Etna on the bottom.  The lower tank is upside down to make the lines look better.  I have no idea if the scale is correct but it looks good and is a pretty capable LV for under 50k funds fully fueled.

I remember that on the old CyroEngines, the Etna re-scaled from 3.75 from 3.125 was actually was pretty close to expected thrust from the standard scaling heuristic.

I've thought about making a patch that updates the size and thrust of various Restock/CyroEngines engines to match closer to their visual equivalent, but I don't know how to scale the engine weight to compensate for the changed thrust.
