  1. I did this same thing with Gilly and it seems WAY more efficient than even getting a gravity assist from Tylo to get into a Jool orbit... have i discovered something? Does anyone else do this? If not then why not?
  2. What nightflying (instrument flying) has taught me was try to keep the prograde marker right at or just above the middle line until you touch down
  3. For a pilot I believe you have to land and make it back from a celestial body you've never been to before AND return to level your Kerbal pilots up, I think just entering a sphere of influence might count too buuuut I'm not 100% Edit: here's the wiki, and it applies to all kerbals variants second edit: i never actually put the link oops lol https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Experience
  4. i thought so too lol I just like to think Kerbals never age, LOVE space more than anything else, and have faith in their crafts. But then again some of the encounters are WAAAAY too long lol
  5. and no problem! i like missions like this, and this thing being stable as it is i bet afk stuff was a breeze
  6. I'm just now getting the hang of gravity assists but I often end up waiting entirely too long for encounters and lately it seems when i do make the encounter I'm more or less wasting time and delta v and my apoapsis doesn't seem to really JUMP like I see it do in other videos... I'm starting from Kerbin, then get a Eve encounter, then another Kerbin encounter, then another Kerbin encounter. If I calculated it right my AP should be crossing Jool's orbit but these last couple of tries haven't really been raising it much. I feel like it would make trips so much easier but maybe I'm missing something with fine tuning...
  7. wow i might have said something of significance for once
  8. wow im dumb, i only ever visited it once in a quick save but never did that
  9. I'm only really asking because there's other planets with atmospheres where the jet engines don't work... but on Laythe the jet engines (in air-breathing mode, to clarify, hence the post) DO work... idk from a perspective of the whole Kerbal existence I was curious.
  10. just to annoy everyone: the editing process mucked up the video but now that im looking at other gilly ssto videos i think i was actually very efficient and i might just link the craft file in the video cause... idk a kerbal is proud, you feel me?
  11. I thought it was really well made, I like the classic camera staging sorta angle. Also the command module readout mod (not sure what to call it) looks really useful
  12. 4/10 for me, I think you responded to a few of my threads. (Btw if that is a blimp in your sig WELL done)
  13. While in the grand scheme of things this isn't really THAT impressive but im currently editing a video where I go to Gilly and back in a modified version of the Javelin SSTO (also utilizing ion engines, and actually getting them to work properly) should be up later tonight
  14. Oh I still like rockets too! After flying so many SSTOS it really is a lot easier and simpler too. At this point im not sure how much farther I can get with a new SSTO so I'm probably gonna switch back to rockets soon haha
  15. The accomplishment you get from building an SSTO to some interplanetary destination and landing back at the KSC is so satisfying (and stylish imo). Staining the runway with the dust of whatever planet you landed on also just sounds poetic.
  16. saaaaaaame, im now reluctant to put whiplashes on my SSTOs unless they ABSOLUTELY need them
  17. this one is one of the things i was looking for THANK YOU!!
  18. So I thought I'd give ion engines another try and i think im starting to get the hang of it... but if someone could describe to me more detailed how to split long burn times? I can't seem to find much when i search
  19. Idk I just thought this was different and cool
