  1. KML has an auto repair function that works a lot of the time, but sometimes it cannot fix the issue. However, it is still useful for diagnosing and pinpointing the error even if you have to manually edit the savegame (which you can do quite effectively in KML as well.
  2. Thanks for the input. Yesterday I was finishing off the third of a fleet of craft going out to Duna. The first two had this issue and all have similar part counts around 300+ and are using 5m main bodies with the Clydesdale booster so as I prepared to fit the lower struts, I gritted my teeth.... Struts went on perfectly with no issue at all. This is why I am perplexed. No changes in mods, almost identical craft builds but then it seems to be a gamble whether the struts will remain stuck. One thing I did note is that when they won't work in one place, you can try all over the sip from the top to the bottom, trying to strut many different parts and the "coming unstuck" problem is consistent. It is not just the boosters. I have a fourth to build this evening so I'll try the VAB/SPH switch and see if that helps.
  3. You can install Action Group Manager mod whch allows you to edit action groups at any time in flight. Extremely handy mod.
  4. Thanks for the detailed response - actually I have been finding the same workaround then using Ctrl + Z but with a large craft it is a REAL PAIN as it takes many seconds to recover each time and if you are placing 8 struts on 4 boosters you end up just wanting to smash things. Just don't understand why it is so inconsistent.
  5. This is weird and driving me nuts. Running 1.8.1 + BG + MH + about 70 mods. When building a craft in the VAB, I am strengthening my SRB booster connections with EAS-4 struts. But occasionally, without any apparent pattern, sometime the struts refuse to stick. I connect the first end...no problem, then connect the second end....all appears well for a second or so, then the first end comes "unstuck". I have tried removing and replacing boosters, turning symmetry on and off, moving the starting position of the strut, trying body to booster then booster to body but nothing seems to work. Then on another craft build using the same components, I'll have no problem, and so on, which also makes me think it is not a mod problem. I would be able to troubleshoot it if it was consistent - AAAAAAAAARGHHHH!! Any clues??
  6. I just want to say a HUGE thank you to Linuxgurugamer for maintaining this wonderful little mod. I had been suffering from the dreaded 4K reset bug, then I installed this. I still get the 4K reset very frequently, but having this mod installed means I just click the button and life is all peachy again. It has definitely saved my PC from being smashed with a baseball bat on more than one occasion. THANK YOU!!!!
  7. I don't think it is an unbeatable problem, should be possible to remap your keys within the game settings. If all else fails, you can even directly edit your Setting.cfg file (in the main game directory)
  8. Which OS are you running? Not sure if it affects the left Ctrl key as well, but I think Linux affects some keys.
  9. Not my experience at all. I've been tootling around Mun, Minmus, Duna and Eve and had absolutely no problem literally tripping over all of the the Breaking Ground features. Especially on the Mun, jump in a rover and you need to keep an eye out to avoid hitting them every couple of minutes. If I had a complaint it would be that there are far too many of them and far too easy to find. Makes them rather pointless actually.
  10. Don't disagree, but over the last couple of years I have seen literally hundreds of posts from obvious newbies suffering massive frustration after installing via steam. It's not only auto updates, there are many cases where "file re-verification" was required due to corruption even after many days / weeks of play. I personally have used steam for some games where there is a definite benefit, but with regard to KSP there are no advantages and many disadvantages it would seem. If steam had a proper workshop set up for game mods with version and conflict checking then I would have no problem recommending it. As it is, they just have few craft files shared, but there are other sources including this forum and kerbalx if using other people's designs is your thing. (never saw the point in that personally) Plus, I would much rather support the devs as directly as possible. Each to their own I suppose.
  11. If it's not too late - don't go the steam route. I've been reading dozens of additional issues caused by steam installs and most importantly, their auto updates.
  12. Sorry to butt in, and I'm not sure if I am in the right place. I am running 1.8.1 on Windows 10, I had the visual problem with Kerbals being visible through all other parts only when seated in EAS-1 Command Seats. For troubleshooting I started with a vanilla 1.8.1 setup slowly adding all my usual 72 mods. The visual problem only occurred when KURS camera was added (1.3.7.2). See the effect in this short thread I then read through this thread and saw that it was suggested it might be a conflict with another mod, so I started with a clean 1.8.1 install and ONLY installed KURS 1.3.7.2 (via CKAN) and its necessary direct and indirect dependencies being; Click through blocker 0.1.9.5 Module manager 4.1.3 Toolbar controller 0.1.9.4 ZeroMini AVC 1.1.0.1 With only these five mods, the visual problem is present at all times, including when the camera window is inactive. Only the Kerbal is visible through parts, the seat is occluded correctly. All other functions of the mod appear to be operating correctly, it is just this visual error. If there is anything I can supply to assist with the fix, please let me know - I am new to troubleshooting in this way.
  13. Okay, after working my way through what I thought was the obvious culprits I finally found that this is caused by Docking Camera (KURS). Just to be sure there was no other mod conflicts, I set up a new vanilla game with only KURS camera and its required dependencies which are; Click through blocker Module manager Toolbar controller ZeroMini AVC It's being discussed here -
  14. This is old but I have the same problem in 1.8.1 and 1.9.1. In a vanilla install, there is no issue but in my main game I have 71 mods. Obviously one of them is causing the issue so any clues would be welcome.
  15. WOH!!! I'm surprised you even got that thing off the runway in one piece.
  16. Best case is to recommend any new user to avoid Steam entirely - it seems to cause so many headaches. It is not required at all for KSP.
  17. First, stick with 1.8.1 max for now as 1.9.1 still has some "essential" mods not updated. Absolute essentials are; MechJeb Kerbal Alarm Clock World Stabilizer Plus, in no particular order; Kerbal Planetary Base Systems KIS KAS Chatterer + extended Scatterer Planet Shine TAC Fuel Balancer Many more, but these would be my reccomendations.
  18. I do something similar but add some sparkle with a set of three initials as a prefix for each class of ship such as; Kerbal Space Ship - KSS somethingorother Kerbal Station - KST Munar 1 Kerbal Space Plane - KSP Eagle Similar concept to HMS, USS, RMS etc for seagoing vessels. (Well, I suppose I only use two initials since the first is always "K") Also, of course use Craft Manager and Maneuver Queue mods to help sort and search for them.
  19. When you install Breaking Ground and forget that the surface features it creates now have colliders, then yes...it certainly does.
  20. I have never played sandbox. Have no interest in it, I only play career.
  21. Don't wish to be rude but a "big game with many missions" and without mods is going to be like hunting for rocking horse manure. I couldn't imagine making a huge commitment without KAC, Mechjeb and about 10-15 more essential mods.
  22. Look up TCA mod (Throttle Controlled Avionics). U sue it for various functions and it has one called "squadron mode" which sounds like it might do what you want (although I have never tested that function myself). Be warned though, TCA has a lot of functions and therefore a pretty steep learning curve.
