  1. I like to have my stations and bases lit up during the night side of a planet or moon. (Who doesn't) Is there a simple part making a part turning on/off the lights by the sun setting, rising or eclipsing? I have plenty of battery power but just looks better with the lights off in the day-side....even in crew cabins.... ...Thoughts?
  2. A mission required a kerbal to return home (my case was on a Laythe Station) from a medical emergency back to Kerbin. Took her a couple of months to return and to find out she was OK.......... An idea came up to create a kerbal as a Med-tech. Make sure every one was healthy, command a kerbal to get on an exercise bike...(Bill had too many snacks). Just simple commands not to overtake or ruin a mission. Crew rosters?...not just to have a kerbal sittin on his green butt throughout the mission. (wake, bathe, breakfast, exercise, work, snack breaks, and sleep) again, with simple commands.
  3. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. RCS needs to be balanced from the Center of Mass. With large craft, I have a set on top (stock 4point RCS quads) and a set below on the major ZY axis (0,90,180,270). Small craft I just use one set centered on the center of mass. I usually, attach the RCS last. Set your gizmos where you like them to be without offkiltering the vehicle. Found out I did an experiment putting those quads at a 45-degree difference (45,135,225,315) that 2 sets of quads fired for a maneuver instead of one. Hard to lift off from a planetary body in a vacuum with turn a tight to make orbit. Must be in exact orbit with the same apoapsis, periapsis, and inclination...about 2km with <10 m/s is a good target distance and speed...Good luck with that.... use small RCS burns, shut off the mains and just slowly approach the target. BE PATIENT! you'll get there. Make sure your docking clamps are crossfed. At 500mtrs slow to 3-1 m/s. Overshoot sucks and takes another 10 minutes to reset yourself. DONT WARP! I use the LOCKED view to upright my vessel and the camera always has a view ahead even turning. Keep an eye on the navball with the prograde bug centered on the target bug. Target is always tumbling slowly...just have to get ahead of your planning at the very end to intercept and soft dock. Took me a while but well worth it. All in good fun.
  4. Sometimes I can dock with no problem if my orbit in sync with the same velocity on a lucky rendezvous, but there are times I fight to get into that sweet spot not overdoing it and gets out of whack again...especially that 50-degree incline. Wish that target would stay in its prograde mode and not slowly tumbling.
  5. Hello, Fellow Kerbalnaughts! My 1st post! I have a station 120km in orbit above Kerbin with a 50-degree inclination. No problem waiting to have the station sailing above KSC and launching. My issue is with Mechjeb wasting my RSC propellent going back and forth a hundred times trying to dock a Progress or Capsule Vehicle to the station. What's with that? (I use MJ for the launching, rolling and gravity turns. too much to key manually in a few seconds) Thanks, Guys!
  6. Usually, I get some inspiration from satellites and space stations real and imaginative and do a quick hodgepodge sketch on paper. I go into the space plane hanger and assemble the whole thing there, rebuild each segment (or merge a part from the hanger) and launch it into orbit. Like to incline the stations' orbit for a better launch challenge. Just got done with a MIR2 station and love it!
