  1. Your objective: Build the smallest rocket possible that can get into orbit. There are 2 categories, each with 2 sub-categories. I will judge each rocket in 2 separate ways, cost and mass. Each one will have its own leader board. The rules are simple. No cheating with Hyperedit, debug menu, ect. The rocket must be completely stock. No mods that alter physics and no clipping parts to exploit physics. The rocket can be manned or unmanned, each will have their own leader board. Make sure to post pictures showing your rocket in flight and showing it's mass and cost. ALSO: The rocket must be a rocket, not a cross between a rocket and a plane. It must take off from the launch pad ,and have other rocket qualities. https://imgur.com/a/swbkZaD This is my entry LOWEST MASS ROCKETS Unmanned: 1. Pds314- 0.855 tonnes 2. Pds314- 1.091 tonnes 3. mystified- 1.491 tonnes 4. Johnster_Space_Program- 3.420 tonnes 5. DRAG0Nmon- 4.460 tonnes Manned: 1. Aetharan- 1.990 tonnes 2. Aetharan- 2.053 tonnes 3. Aetharan- 2.085 tonnes 4. Aetharan-2.159 tonnes 5. Ironbars- 2.175 tonnes LOWEST COST ROCKETS Unmanned: 1. Pds314- 640 kerbucks 2. Pds314- 2110 kerbucks 3. mystified- 4580 kerbucks 4. Johnster_Space_Program- 5250 kerbucks 5. DRAG0Nmon- 7,154 kerbucks Manned: 1. TheFlyingKerman- 2603 kerbucks 2. Aetharan- 3907 kerbucks 3. farmerben- 3982 kerbucks 4. Aetharan- 4276 kerbucks 5. Ironbars- 4423 kerbucks Notes- zolotiyeruki, if you can find some screenshots of that old craft, I will gladly accept it! Pds314 maintains the top 2 spots for lightest and cheapest unmanned crafts. TheFlyingKerman holds the cheapest manned rocket. Artharan has almost stolen every spot for the lightest manned rocket, taking 1, 2, 3, and 4! Will he be able to take 5? Keep up the amazing work everyone!
  2. When I first started playing KSP, I really wanted to build a space station. I spent probably an hour looking for a good tutorial, but never found one. I eventually used a combination of real life examples and common sense to eventually get it. Now I want to spare people the pain I felt. So, here is how to rendezvous. Tip- try to use normal docking ports, and refrain from using the seniors and juniors unless you really want or need to. Step 1: Get a ship you want to dock with into circular orbit. I usually aim for 125 to 135 kilometers. I would make sure this ship has a probe core that can focus on target with SAS or a pilot that can, because it makes docking easier. Step 2: Get the ship you want to dock with your craft in step one into a lower orbit that craft 1. I try to make the orbit around 20 kilometers lower. This ship must have RCS fuel and thrusters to dock with craft 1. Step 3: Now you should have craft 2 in a lower orbit than craft 1. Then you need to click on craft 1 and set it as your target. Now you should see 2 new markers, labeled Ascending Node and Descending Node. These tell you how far off your inclination is from your target. Make a manuever node at either of the 2 and pull normal (at descending node) or anti-normal (at ascending node) until the number it shows is 0, 0.1, or -0.1. Step 4: Now you need to make a manuever node and pull prograde until you see an intersect marker. These tell you how far you will be from your target at your closest approach. Drag the manuever node around your orbit until it is the closest . If your separation is less than 9 kilometers, then you can go right to Step 5. If not, then right click the node, and press the add orbit button until your closest approach is much closer. Then drag it around some more until your separation is less that 9 kilometers. Then wait and excecute the burn. Step 5: Now set your navball setting from orbital to target if it isn't already. Then when you are at or near your closest approach, you need to, with your main engine and not RCS, burn retrograde until your relative speed is 0. The focus SAS on target, and burn, while keeping an eye on your closest approach in the orbital map. Stop burning when the closest approach stops getting shorter. Then, kill your relative speed, burn to target, and repeat until your closest approach is 0.3-0.0. Now, you don't need the orbital map. Step 6: Now when you are within 300 meters, kill speed relative to your target and ditch the main engine, switching to RCS. It's a good idea to quick save before doing this. Then burn to your target, and come to a stop when you can highlight parts on your target when mousing over them. Right-click the docking port you wish to dock with, and burn towards it until about 25 meters away. Step 7: Now, you should be stopped around 25 meters from the target. Now right-click the docking port you want to connect with your target, and click control from here. Make sure your SAS is set to target. Then switch to the target craft using [ or ], set the target craft to be facing the docking port you wish to use on your other craft, and make sure you are controlling from your targeted docking port. Now both docking ports should be lined up. Using craft 2, press H and accelerate towards your target at a very slow speed, making sure your prograde is staying on the target marker. I recommend quicksaving at this moment, especially when using senior docking ports, as they repel away from the target if the connection is not perfect. Now slowly drift towards your target until you are docked! Now you can eat a celebratory cookie and admire your work! I hope this guide is helpful! Sorry if it is WAY too long, I tried to make it as detailed as possible. Happy flying!
  3. Also, just for the heck of it, should I research the Large ore tank or the Thermoelectric Generator?
  4. I was playing in my science save have had for a while, and was on a trip to Eeloo using ion engines. Then I ran out of Xenon. So being that hacker that I am, I immediately went into the parts list and found the IRSU. But before I do something dumb and destroy KSP, I should ask. Can I add an output resource as Xenon?
  5. In my science save, I have decided that to challenge myself, I will have a base on every planet and moon in KSP, as well as have a space station orbiting it. I have also decided to name each base/station after a band or singer I like, so I called the operation "Golden Record". But I don't know what band should pair with what planet/moon. So I need help. I plan put whoever helped me name the base in the flag that's planted when it lands. Thanks in advance! The list: Freddy Mercury: Moho, because it is the analogue of Mercury Queen: MDZhB "Laythe because it is the queen of the Jool system." David Bowie: Mun, because, well I don't know. Pink Floyd: Minmus, because it is a magical world of mint and super man gravity, and there songs bring you to a magical world. Metallica: Ike, because they were a metal/rock band, and whenever I think of metal I think of dark colors . Led Zeppelin: cantab "Eeloo, because it is far away like heaven. you have to take a stairway to get there." Black Sabbath: Dres, because they are also a metal band, and Dres is darker than Ike. Rolling Stones: Gilly, because your rocket turns into a "Rolling Stone" on it's slopes" (cantab) Billy Joel: FleshJeb "Low Kerbol Orbit, because the star 'starts the fire'". Johnny Cash: Tylo, because your engine makes a burning ring of fire when landing. Nirvana: Bop, because the certain easter egg of a certain deep sea creature looks like his hair, in a way. AC/DC: Eve, because it has oceans of rocket fuel, and rockets are loud, like thunder. Guns N' Roses: Duna, because roses are red like Duna. Beatles: FleshJeb "Vall, because it is the diamond in the sky with Lucy." Elvis: MDZhB "Jool because it is the king of the planets." The Eagles: Pol, because it has mystical invisible mountains, like the mystical Hotel California. Thanks MDZhB, FleshJeb, cantab
  6. The second craft should stop at minmus orbit, regardless of fuel levels. Then, it will release another one to land on minmus, then return tho that one. Then both will return to the one parked in LKO and all of them will return together.
  7. Yeah, but I'm trying not to go to somewhere like Jool or Eeloo yet, it the save the rocket is in I haven't been out of Kerbin's SOI.
  8. I designed a rocket capable of taking a 20 ton lander to the Mun. It ended up having over 10,000 Delta V with the payload. Oh well, guess I'll have to try again. . .
  9. Ho Lam Kerman, that is amazing. Did you find the Curiosity camera arm stuck in the rock?
  10. I have completed a few challenges, and there were badges available for them. But how to I claim the badges, so they show up whenever I post?
  11. Hope your still taking entries, that badge is cool https://imgur.com/a/nATBf7m The wings are different, if you look closely at the borders you'll realize quickly. The fuel tanks are a regular liquid fuel one, and then 2 different rocket ones drained of oxidizer. The craft is entirely stock. Hope you see this!
  12. Yes, I guess the last 2 aren't reAlly ssto's. But I guess the general point is to make an ssto carrying 2 spaceplanes. I'll edit that now. It is definitely possible, I have done it before. I'm not posting the pictures or craft files, so that anyone who wants to try this can be original with there design. I look forward to seeing your submission soon!
  13. Very cool, I like all the colors on the rides.
  14. Triop, very impressive. I like the way the airplane ride looks. What’s the one behind it with the big circle though?
  15. Your challenge is to build a theme park on the flat grass next to the KSP. Everyone there works so hard, and now they need a little fun. There must be at least 4 rides that a kerbal can get on and off of. The ride cannot kill the kerbal, and the ride must be fully functional, being able to run and recharge if needed. Any mod is allowed, as well as Breaking Ground and Making History, but please state what mods you used in your submission. Make sure it looks pretty, because you need to convince everyone that you're best! Get the ride into position however you want, and make sure it is firmly set on the ground. Post pictures/videos so we can see your park in all its glory. Good luck!
  16. Do you know the little Russian dolls that stack inside of each other ( Matryoshka dolls ). If not, look at a picture. Your job is to do this with ssto’s. You must get an ssto inside of an ssto inside of an ssto. And send it to Minmus. The first ssto will take the other 2 into LKO. Then the next one will enter Minmus orbit. Then you release the last ssto, and land it. You’ll also want to get them back, unless you don’t want to. RULES No mods that alter physics, add parts, or auto-fly. Visual mods are allowed, and ones that read out information like Kerbal Engineer Redux, are allowed as well. No part clipping or any other physics breaking methods. Breaking Ground and Making History are allowed, but make sure to say if you use them. Make sure to post pictures to prove your success (and failures)! Good luck! hint- try using mk0 in a mk2 in a mk3 EDIT- I guess the inner 2 ssto's are really spaceplanes, but you should get the idea.
  17. Cool, I’ll take a look at Duna’s poles in my upcoming mission there.
  18. You weren't kidding about the emerald city attacked by Godzilla. I wonder how deep the Mohole is compared the the Bophole
  19. Interesting about the pole of Tekto, I'll need to look that up. I wonder why people are more interested in the Mohole, considering the fact that it is on Moho, one of the more challenging places to get to.
  20. A booster came 300 meters from my main space station the other day. Jeb had to EVA and push it away to keep the station safe.
