  1. Things get really strange here because I can't imagine a list of colony parts that doesn't include a greenhouse. Would they really release a colonization system and not include a greenhouse module? Are colonies going to consist of only habitation and resource extraction modules? Seems quite bland
  2. Man, if they took a whole year in-between roadmap updates, the community would riot I doubt they'd take more than 6 months per roadmap update, and I'd wager a little less on those certain updates that don't seem intense. Multiplayer could take a long time, but adding 1-2 star systems shouldn't
  3. This discussion covers the topic of KSP2 Graphical fidelity in 10 years, modded and un-modded. It's not so much about what Vanilla KSP2 will look like, but what KSP2 can look like. If modders were able to build upon KSP1's code to produce the leap in graphical fidelity I presented with the screenshot examples, then what may the modding community do with KSP2's code, 10 years in the future? I apologize if the last line in my introductory topic post did not make that sentiment clear
  4. There is this very cool thing called "having different opinions" Imagine if we set up spaces to discuss these things at our personal leisure, like say, a forum mate. Yeah, something like that
  5. [snip] Unlike some, I would prefer the conversation for this topic doesn't devolve into "KSP2 good / KSP2 bad". There are plenty of places in the KSP forum we can discuss that, and retread the same arguments, over and over, and over again I think that in 10 years there will still be people modding KSP2, even if official support for it would end. Graphical fidelity increased tremendously in the last 10 years, so who knows what we will see in 2033! It would take KSP2 not getting any updates forever starting NOW, or modding as a practice totally dying out for KSP2 to not see a graphical enhancement mod in the near future
  6. It is wonderful to look back at these old discussions, and see what the community thought about multiplayer all those years ago. Lots of things that were discussed in the Pre-KSP2 launch forum were discussed here. One has to wonder if Squad would have actually added multiplayer into KSP1 had KSP2 never been a thing, (as claimed by some of the forum users in 2016). If you squint hard enough, you could make yourself believe these are current-day discussions on KSP2's multiplayer. The hypothetical concern back then seems to be the same today: a game not being able to handle thousands of parts at a time shouldn't be able to handle multiplayer. When multiplayer does eventually come around for KSP2, it will be interesting to see how many things the community got right... almost 8 years before its release.
  7. Quick little discussion here: If in ~10+ years, KSP went from looking like this: To looking like this: (Modded) What do you think KSP2 will look like in 10+ years through modding and development? Could we expect the graphical fidelity of, say, the KSP2 cinematic advertisements?
  8. If so, I think we might be getting too ahead of ourselves. There may still be a chance that this Snack LS-lite comes to fruition by the time the Colonies update rolls around. Perhaps the developers defined life support too firmly for the AMA
  9. Perhaps I am experiencing the Mandela effect, but I could have sworn that the developers made a mention of snacks at some point in the past. I think too much forum browsing over the years has turned my brain into mush
  10. Unfortunately, these things aren't scheduled to appear in the universe for a very, very, very, very long time. And that's assuming that a very specific type of particle doesn't decay! A black hole system would be cool. It would be interesting to see how the development team tackled gravity and that aforementioned, very, very, inhospitable environment for any satellite
  11. I agree that it would be annoying to have a billion different spacesuits for a billion different things, and have to micromanage them all. But do I think special suits for the Kerbals would be cool. A small selection of suits that would allow Kerbals to EVA on places where they shouldn't be able to. A suit to withstand extreme pressures, a suit to traverse the surface of an incredibly hot Moho and Eve... Nothing too complicated of course. With the addition of exoplanets in KSP2, who knows what hazardous conditions we might get!
  12. This would be really cool! I always found it strange that the standard Kerbal space suit was able to withstand everything, from the sulfuric rain of EVE to the depths of Kerbin's seas
  13. I am excited to hear Kapybara Space Program is collaborating with MANNCO I can't wait to unbox an unusual Kapybara Tophat!
  14. The infinite discoveries mod for KSP is just like that. It is an incredible mod, even if it is really resource intensive! I always thought KSP2 would have a similar feature, but obviously, such a thing didn't come to be. I even posted about it on the pre-launch archived KSP2 forum section a couple years ago. I got laughed at
  15. Everything about this would be incredible. Gas giants are such amazing celestial bodies, it would be a waste to not be able to interact with them. I don't think it's realistic that we could send something to the mantle of a gas giant, but we could definitely harvest certain gases from their surface. Imagine the possibilities with blimp parts!
  16. Ah, nothing like a nice skinny dip in an ocean of metallic hydrogen, under the unimaginable pressure of gases and gravity from a Gas-giant The perfect way to spend your summers in the Kerbol system
  17. With this one simple trick, you too can become an interstellar species
  18. Take a deep breath and re-read my comment Zoomed out, your opinion and mine aren't that different mate
  19. As part of the Apollo Applications Program, a manned flyby of Venus was planned by NASA in the 1960's. Similarly, the former Soviets had planned a flyby of Venus for their TMK-E variant rocket. Obviously, neither program saw the light of day. No worries! We can recreate what should have been our gloriously bright future in our currently not-so-glorious, mediocre present! KSC is proud to announce: KERPERNICUS : KER-MANNED MISSIONS TO EVE Challenge Tiers: [EASY DIFFICULTY] : Complete a flyby of Eve, take a screenshot in orbit, return your Kerbals safely, all in ONE GO! Your Reward: [CHALLENGE DIFFICULTY]: Complete a two-way crewed mission to Eve. Land your Kerbals, take a screenshot of them dancing alongside their flag, and return them to Kerbin alive! EXTRA POINTS if you encounter a Kraken-attack and successfully recover the mission! Your Reward: [IMPOSSIBLE DIFFICULTY] : IN KSP2 PRE-PATCH VERSION (First release version of KSP2 Early Access) Complete a two-way crewed mission to Eve. Land your Kerbals, take a screenshot of them dancing alongside their flag, and return them to Kerbin alive. Your well-deserved Trophy: Post your screenshots and Mission Report in the comments! If you need a high-quality, background transparency version of the badges, let me know! Good luck!
  20. Great discussions are had on these forums, and many good points are raised on both sides regarding KSP2. But, I think we've already exhausted everything we could discuss. At this point I feel that everyone, from the KSP2 haters to the KSP2 apologists, is going in circles. We raise the same points and get in the same arguments, and thumbs-up the same posts from the same people, posting the same arguments.... etc...etc. There is a rather vulgar term on the internet to describe these types of circles. Eventually, they seem to attract a lot of jerks. In my opinion, KSP2 made a big mistake advertising the game (deceptively) to the widest possible audience when it was at this state. Most of the problems we see with the community reception of the game can be directly linked to that. In that same vein, the KSP2 team doesn't deserve 100% of the blame for that either, if you know what I mean. The only thing we can do is wait and periodically participate in the community. No amount of praising is going to increase development speed or miraculously finish the game. No amount of name-calling is going to end bad gaming-industry trends. We just gotta' chill mates.
  21. Jeb's new record: 1763m/s Jeb used to be a Jet-Engine purist. If the engine wasn't under the "Jet-Engines" tab, it wasn't a jet engine. Then, he met The CR-7 R.A.P.I.E.R. Suffice it to say, Jeb came out of the VAB that day as a changed, uh, man-kerbal-thing. Jeb's aircraft lost one of it's wings due to a terrible surprise Kraken attack. Thankfully, his craft was "gliding" by then. Not really. It was tumbling down.
  22. I've never heard anyone say that American Tomato-Sugar-Sauce doesn't go well on Hot Dogs. You must be living in the darkest craters of Duna
  23. Let's skip all the argument and numbers and call it what it actually is: KSP2 Full Release
