  1. I drew these on a whiteboard in my town's library (DC-9 I drew a few days ago, the other 2 are from last school year)

20230922153408.jpgI kind of messed up the DC-9's engines, but besides that I think it came out alright. Wings might be a little small though.20230320152856.jpg20230602161929.jpg

Ignore the incorrect Bangladeshi flag on the DC-10, I was focused on drawing the plane correctly. It's more embarrassing considering I'm a pretty big flag nerd. :P

I didn't blur out my name because everyone already knows it's Ben anyway and I don't really care about people knowing my last initial

"I'm sciencing as fast as I can!" -Professor Farnsworth\

"Ah, just like my dad use to make. Until they fired him from McDonalds" - Philip J. Fry

  3. I went to New York and visited the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, and saw Concorde G-BOAD and OV-101 (Space Shuttle Enterprise)! I didn't get to go inside the Concorde because the thing where they take you inside was sold out, and it's closed until next year starting July 1, as it's being taken offsite for maintenance according to the website. Also I think I saw a LOT flight crew coming out of a hotel when we were walking on the sidewalk and I rode on a train for the first time in a while, so that was cool as well.

If anyone's interested I might post pictures of the planes later/tomorrow, I'm tired since I just got back after being in NYC all day and I took way too many pictures that I now have to sift through.:P

  4. Everyone talks about how Russia's current anthem has the same melody as the USSR's anthem, but I feel like not as many people know that Mongolia's current anthem also has the same melody as the anthem (after 1950) of the Mongolian People's Republic (socialist Mongolia) even after the country effectively fell in 1992. It's quite a nice anthem, and I'm happy it was kept even though it could be associated with the former communist government.

Is that a fun fact or am I just a nerd who likes foreign songs?

  5. Kind of doesn't belong on this thread, but I found out there are even versions of the Soviet folk song Katyusha in Ainu (a Japanese language with only about 10 native speakers left) and in some constructed language from Lord of the Rings. Granted, the Ainu version isn't the most high quality version, but it's amazing that there's even a version of this song I thought was sort of niche in such a small language. I also just found instrumental versions of the song on tesla coils and musical calculators. I at least though that was pretty interesting, don't know if anyone else will.

For something more interesting, Mt. Chimborazo in Ecuador is farther from the Earth's center than Mt. Everest, while not being as high above sea level as Everest is. I guess I can't resist to point out interesting geography facts.

After seeing the CL-1201 concept, I thought 'why not make a conventionally shaped giant plane?
