  1. If they start delaying other stuff then other windows open, but it all depends on what NASA/customers are willing to accept
  2. With how busy the ISS will be soon and the incoming Lucy launch that has to use that pad, the last plausible date would be august 20. After that they would have to wait for months, and NASA is unlikely to delay Crew-3 after it was already delayed once
  3. Proposed Saturn V INT-21 launched space station that would have used the spent S-II stage as a counterweight so that artificial gravity could be generated by rotating it and the crew module, with in the middle the experiment module, solar panels and a docking port. Made for a 9 people crew Liftoff: Rotation of the segments to their final position (see scheme at the top) Crew tube expansion: Extentension of the solar panels, antennae and all the various experiments: Artificial gravity! Crew arrival in a later Saturn 1B:
  4. LR 11000 unhooked from the booster, which means that they either need to stack S20 with the LR 13500 there or that they need it to stack the cryo shell that is moving with S20. Or, best case and at this point not that unlikely, do both
  5. It's basically finished now, so that's likely. They can probably do the remaining tiling within a day. It does make sense for the future, if they are going for fast reusability they want to be able to replace tiles without having to go back to the high bay
  6. They definitely will, it doesn't impact anything and will provide a whole lot more of essential data this way. We already know the basic flight plan, which ends with the soft landing of starship if it is able to survive
  7. S20 on the move! And look at the date: they did it for 5th of august!!
  8. Even worse than that, NASA *specifically* writes that most of the parts in the NT lander will never be flight tested until the crewed lunar landing, no matter the date when it arrives. So much for "proven technologies"
  9. Oh damn, NASA and GAO must have forgot about that! You should really call them!
  10. I'm not completely sure since I didn't follow the CNSA back then, but didn't they already have a smaller, single launch space station before this one?
  11. ...they are trying to show it by making their lander bigger than it actually is?
  12. For a second I thought it was that photoshop of B3 on the launch mount, then I looked better. Woahhhhh
  13. r/SpaceXMasterrace is amusingly reliable when BO gets facts proposefully wrong From there:
  14. Probably spacex thought we were starting to get less confused about the naming scheme, so they are now trying to confuse us with the colour scheme. Unfortunately there seems to be thunders at Starbase atm, so B4 lifting may get delayed a bit
  15. It's seriously embarassing. Look at the launches part: - for BO it is "only 3 national team launches - with proven systems" - for Starship it is "10+ starship/superheavy launches - for just one lunar landing." What is BO doing with those launches, if not "just one lunar landing"? Ten trips to Alpha Centauri? The funny part is that one mayor disadvantage of the NT lander for the HLS selection document are the many systems that can't be tested until the first crewed lunar landing, and they make nice infographics about how their tech is safer because it's "proven and flying today". Even ignoring the stupid colours (starship bad, so make the stuff about it red), even their math doesn't check out, since the big bad text talks about "10+ launches for just one lunar landing" and the small, rotated text next to it says 8+ tanker launches. When they aren't getting facts proposefully wrong, the rest of the infographic actually says all the most exciting parts of Starship lol
  16. Jesus. Christ. Talk about not knowing when to shut up Edit: the hell is "without dissimilar redundancy in abort engines" even supposed to mean???
  17. I heard that the shuttle tiles were very light because they had a low density, probably these are as well Also: This thing is going to be beautiful
  18. Tile operator breaking a tile while trying to install it pictured on video look at the guy with the FH black shirt
  19. Jesus, that was unexpected so fast. Roast closure today too, so maybe...?
  20. S20 heat shield nearly complete, the tip is now done and, against all odds, it's not a single piece@sevenperforce
  21. **EDA's Elon Musk Interview - Part 1:** Booster: * The things in between the grid fins on B4 are load points for lifting (may be also used for catching). * Booster target for dry mass "should" be under 200 tons. * Grid fins not folding in looks to be final but Elon doesn't rule out a change * Grid fins weigh around 3t each - Elon suggests that they could cut the grid fin weight in half Raptor: * Raptor V2 is already in production - should be testing V2 in about a month. * Volume production of Raptor will move to McGregor, Hawthorne will be used for dev and RVac * Raptor v2 to be able to reach 230t at 298 bar. Elon wants to squeeze an extra 2bar out of it to make it 300 bar HLS: * HLS thruster system is still under debate - Musk indicates that NASA will be able to help them with that. * HLS could have the same thrust layout as the normal ship Stage Sep: * Booster and ship will go into a "spin" before engine shutdown - the aim is that the Ship and booster will seperate by themselves (much like Starlink) * RCS thrusters on the ship will help with seperation * Ullage gas (venting) on SH will be used as RCS. Hot gas thrusters have been ELIMINATED according to EDA. * Elon suggests on-the-spot that ullage gas could be used on the ship as well in order to eliminate cold gas. (May be replace cold gas or may not) Msc: * None of the failures of the previous prototypes were on the internal "risk list" Part 2 will probably be more about raptors and possibly other Starshio thrusters (cold gas, hot gas, maybe Lunar Starship prototype thrusters?) It was also confirmed that part 3 will talk at least a bit about the Florida production site
  22. They still had the internal goal of 5th august having full stack (at this pace it's probably doable by the end of the week) and there are many rumours of Musk wanting to do a mayor event in front of the full stack asap (Mk1 style), so I wouldn't be surprised if they leave them in and stack S20 and B4 for testing and this event, if it exists
