I think LittleBigPlanet is like Roblox but different. You create levels for other players to go through. Sackboy is one of the available characters to play as in the game. I don't see the point in this kind of exclusive deal, but like you said, it would fit a kerbal good.

I don't really use asteroids, but I will try my best to give some advice. Pick a few asteroids for each planet that you visit. You can use those for emergency refueling stations. Maybe track only the biggest ones, or the ones with the highest ore content. I can't think of anything else. Maybe just divide the number you have by two.
