  1. AMAZING... though I was really hoping for a Kerbal-esque crash into the iceberg!
  2. KSP has forced me to learn about relative velocities in m/s, but tbh it has no frame of reference for me. When I used to build planes in KSP with my son, we would always convert the number to mach-figures because that was a language we were used to. 2000 m/s ... 3000 m/s were just numbers to us, but mach 2... mach 4.... is a language we spoke. Thank for building this chart @Mikki.
  3. Made my first ever trip to Duna yesterday. Managed to land and visit the monument. Delta V was borderline at departure and only got worse as the mission went on, so Bob knew early it was going to be a one way trip. I did learn something many of you probably knew already but it never came up in my play which is you can repack a parachute. I'm going to back up the game and try using them on the Duna landing. Might be able to save enough fuel to get him back into orbit. BILL KERMAN'S ACT OF HEROICS: After an unplanned repositioning of his lander on the Mun, Bill found himself in the unfortunate position of being without fuel and stranded on the return trip to Kerbin. His final orbit was around 7,000km Apo and 120km Peri. Faced with the possibility of a long, and lonely existence in high Kerbin orbit and with no hopes of rescue, Bill looked around for anything he could use and concocted a "hail mary" plan. After staging everything except his capsule, Bill left the safety of his module behind and stepped into the dark endless reaches of space. With the capsule oriented retrograde, Bill stood on the heat shield and fired his RCS jet pack. Slowly but surely his Peri declined.... 100km.... 85km...70km. It was working.... but would he have enough fuel in his jet pack? It was a slow and tense process. Finally, with only a few pounds of monopropellant remaining he managed to bring his Peri down to 40km. That was enough to catch the atmosphere on his next pass by Kerbin and bring both himself and the capsule home safely; effectively executing a self-rescue. Our hats off to you Bill. This is the kind of ingenuity and determination that separates Kerbonauts from us mere humans.
  4. My Kerbals will be celebrating WITH SCIENCE of course!
  5. This is what it looks like inside KSP HQ right now..... Meanwhile, @Nate Simpson...
  6. Hoping there are fewer Kraken's after this one. ***fingers crossed***
  7. Hello. Could I please have my name changed to Otto von Kerman? Thank you.
  8. Giving credit where it is due = good leadership!
  9. Completed the 1st part of this challenge. Decided to burn the remaining fuel just sightseeing around Minmus instead of making the return trip. Love the way the terrain looks and all the elevation. Currently working on a rover to go back and explore some more. .
  10. Nope. Still playing with KSP2. I'm a casual player, maybe a few hours on weekends and an hour or two a couple nights during the week. I never really got too far in KSP1. I visited the local moons and a couple nearby planets, built some planes, rovers, comm networks, and some pretty crude space stations. Never picked up any of the expansion packs. I'm hoping to accomplish a lot more in KSP2. The graphics keep me coming back and I'm pretty patient so I don't mind waiting for the patches.
  11. I attempted the "Delighttest" challenge. Made several attempts at a minimalist design with a methalox engine. It was pretty small and light and after many iterations it had pretty good flight characteristics. But, sadly it ran out of fuel before it got to the end of the runway.
  12. I'm with you. All the nay-sayers are bumming me out. I've had a great time playing the game and plan to continue playing until I've seen everything it has and will offer. Oh... and I'll take my martini with vodka and dirty. TYVM!
  13. I landed on the Mun. Pretty sure he isn't making it home though. Also, played through all the tutorials to see what was new. Built a jet plane and flew around Kerbin a bit, too. Game feelings: Looks beautiful. Kinda buggy but expect the team will be polishing it up quickly. Loved playing and looking forward to patches.
  14. I'm excited to see these beautiful new planets!
  15. I'm so excited about this game, that I actually ordered a new laptop and took Friday off work just to play it. KSP brings joy to my life and I would like to thank Nate and his entire team for making it.
  16. Super-HYPED about finally being able to play KSP 2!!! And I'm in the 6:00 am release window, which couldn't be better IMO. Here is my pre-launch checklist: Vacation day approved by the boss - CHECK Funds pre-loaded into my Steam account - CHECK HDMI cable connecting the laptop to the 4k TV - CHECK Wireless keyboard, headphones, and lap tray staged by the couch - CHECK Wife and kids (conveniently) at work and school for the day - CHECK Help me out, fellow Kerbalites. What am I missing to make my release-day celebration the best it can be?
  17. I've been trying to figure this out for weeks now. The Private Division store countdown says 8 days, which is actually the 23rd. That leads me to believe it's going to release at midnight or basically "zero hour" on the 24th. Total speculation and maybe optimism on my part, but I would sure like to find out so I can decide if I'm taking the 24th off of work or not. https://store.privatedivision.com/game/kerbal-space-program-2 (I'm 52 years old and haven't been this excited about a video game, well since ...... Ultima V )
