  1. I've been giving this some thought. What if you just put a one frame lag into it? Detect what the net EC generation was last frame (delta EC) and convert some percentage of that to MJ.
  2. Throium: What about the continuous reprocessing of liquid core thorium reactors? No one wants to shut down a Thorium reactor and take out the core (U-233 is amazingly nasty stuff) so all the ones I've seen are molten salt reactors that use a liquid core and they syphon off some, reprocess it and re-inject it in a continuous loop. Maybe an upgrade? Edit: That'll teach me to reply before finishing reading the thread.
  3. 64-bit KSP would solve this but we still have no ETA on Win64 KSP
  4. That sounds like a limitation of the welding tool rather than the concept. The tool should be able to assign tech tree location at a minimum. Edit: Just looked at the latest state of the mod. It's currently disabled in career mode because access to the tech tree is still limited. It does however auto reload the database so you don't have to shut down the game anymore.
  5. You could also look over at KSPI. He's got a 'waste heat' resource that you have to radiate out or things shut down (or explode).
  6. I thought it was an accepted fact that the stock ion engines were way overpowered compared to what they should be... Maybe I've been hanging around these boards too much? The FAR thread and the real sol conversion thread complain about it occasionally too. ... that spawns a thought however. There's an educational version of KSP in the works. I wonder if they'll tone down the ion engine in that? Just a random thought. Anyway I'll throw together an alternator and see if it completely shatters any semblance of balance.
  7. There isn't? ElectricCharge from generation sources is rated in units per second. 1 ec/s = 1KJ/s. Now batteries would be an issue as they have a capacity not a units per second. I agree with you that the thought of just pool everything into the battery and then take it from there (in order to remove the 'flavor' of power) isn't going to work for exactly that reason but what's wrong with an alternator or something that can directly convert EC/s to MJ? edit: In fact what's stopping me from just creating it? Ah the beauty of mods. You can write your own. I'll send it to you once I figure out how to do it.
  8. That would be why I can't use generators from other mods to power a transmitter. Any way you can add 'battery' on the end of that list and let us route all electrical power through the battery to go out the transmitter?
