  1. Yeah, they've already got a handful of planets in the works. No clue when they're going to actually add them...last I'd heard anything about it, they were ready for implementation a few updates ago. Maybe they had to rework them for whatever reason. Either way, I seem to recall something like...a saturn equivalent with a handful of moons, a volcano planet or somesuch and I think a third gas giant is planned...though I could be wrong on that. There's also been loads of discussions about what types of planets people would like to see, so I'd say go looking for those threads to see what the general consensus is.
  2. Even if this update only has the one science module, didn't they say there'd be more science parts in the future? I don't know, I figured that whatever they implement into the next update would be just basic stuff to get the ball rolling and make sure the R&D stuff works for everyone and is enjoyable, more or less. After that, they'll probably toss in new parts every other patch or so...or just have a big functional parts patch someday. Who knows? Either way, it's a bit too early to be requesting things like this.
  3. This has been suggested before...kind of. At least, I'm fairly certain it has. Seems vaguely familiar, anyways >_> Either way, I'm always down for more ways to customize your kerbals. Though I don't know if changing individual suit parts is exactly what we need. I'd honestly be fine if we could just change the colors of them. I tend to bring this up a lot, being able to edit the colors of outfits, EVA suits and even parts using a DoW army painter style utility. Or more recently, something like MWO's mech painter. Or most phenomenally, APB's editor for just about everything(clothes, cars, your character, even). Just good stuff to really make your space program feel like YOUR space program, you know?
  4. While I like the idea of added design challenges, I feel like parts and modules would have radiation shielding built into them. But I do like the idea of doing science in all the radiation out there.
  5. I would really like to see the creator of this come together with the creator of TAC and make a really amazing and perhaps customizable life support mod
  6. I've seen this suggested at least once before. Not too long ago, either. I think there was a discussion about it a few months ago as to how they might go about making it...I kind of thought they could make a simple 2D KSP app or something, but most people seemed to want just the vehicle assembly building on a phone or tablet to take with them. Some people thought it was a terrible idea, but a lot of people liked the idea. I'm on the fence about it...simply 'cause it wouldn't benefit me at all(no smartphone or tablet here). But if there's demand, I see no reason why they couldn't make something like that.
  7. Being able to move around in IVA IS planned. You're going to be able to take your helmet off then supposedly you should be able to float about between parts using the hatches or something from the inside. There's also supposed to be things you can interact with inside of certain modules, but I've no idea what those would be. Hopefully something like beds in habitation modules or experiments in science bays or suits in airlocks and so on.
  8. I sent a probe satellite with four detachable probe rovers to Duna with less fuel and/or rockets than I was expecting. It was pretty good. Of course, that was just the once and it was quite a while ago...I haven't really been playing much KSP lately. Too excited for career updates in the next couple patches
  9. The biggest news is research and development, which is due in the next update. It's looking phenomenal~ I'd say have a look at the last couple editions KSP Weekly to get a good view of what to expect....and people will probably flood this thread with talk of it @.,@
  10. I'd be okay with that, I suppose. Though it seems like something that should be reserved for a mod, perhaps. Or a means to unlock mod parts...or something.
  11. Canadarm hasn't been suggested because it's a specific thing from the real world. However, robotics things have indeed been suggested and are on the what not to suggest list. Of course, that doesn't make them bad suggestions...but people don't like to see old ideas brought up, some people get quite negative about it when that happens. But yeah, having some robotic arms or tools for probes are most likely in the pipeline somewheres. It's almost impossible to have a space program simulator without them. Almost every rover in real life has had some type of robotic manipulator or something similar. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for such things 'cause they're working on bigger core features for the time being...and probably will be for the next couple updates or more.
  12. Well, real space programs do this sort of thing, so I see no reason for people being negative about this. Not like it harms anyone who's not interested in using these silly names for their orbits. Granted, I don't have the mental capacity to memorize all of that stuff so I'll just stick with apoapsis and periapsis just like the negative nancies. But I can at least appreciate why people might like using these types of things to talk about the game >_>
  13. To expand upon what leax pointed out, we'll eventually be able to determine for ourselves what each fuel tank contains. If we want the spherical tanks to contain just liquid fuel, we could. Or just put oxidizer in them. No clue as to when that'll be implemented, but it's definitely been planned for a long while yet.
  14. I think I saw this exact suggestion yesterday. Other than that, this type of thing has been suggested loads of times. Folders, categories, dropdown menus, tabs...I'm sure they'll eventually add one of those means of organizing parts. Well, perhaps not...but it is quite a popular idea so there's a chance. Incidentally, people make the exact same suggestion for the load menu, saving your crafts into folders and things. We'll essentially be able to save crafts and payloads in two locations, though, so that should ease up some of the clutter...at least a little bit for now.
  15. Fortunately for a game like this, it won't likely EVER be on a console. Probably. Even so, you just disable multi-monitor support. Pretty sure there have been games to do this before...though I don't use two monitors so I wouldn't know of any examples off-hand.
  16. I feel like this would be planned. I mean, people have discussed it before and shown interest in being able to do this sort of thing. On top of that, multi-monitor setups aren't exactly rare anymore, so...I don't know, they've got to realize the potential need for this sort of thing. At the same time, it'd probably be a low priority to get this type of thing up and running. They'll probably consider something like this quite a ways after career mode's more or less finished up.
  17. This has actually been suggested before. A really good idea someone had once was to have a chalkboard or whiteboard you could interact with in the mission control building somewheres. It was a grand discussion, but some of the ideas brought up involved having stickers representing planets(after you'd discovered them, of course), moving them about to plan maneuvers and things then maybe even roughly crunching numbers based on your telescopic measurements of the planet's distance. Additionally, it was said that there should be a type of maneuver node editor in the mission/launch control building where you take your rough sketch and plot your maneuver nodes manually before the launch and try your best to keep to them. I thought it was all really compelling stuff. I think it might've been two threads I'm talkin' about, but either way, it's a good suggestion, more or less.
  18. They've actually had decals planned for some time now. There even used to be a decals tab in the construction menu. They'll probably work like flags where decals are images of a certain size and you place them on the surface of your vehicles. It'd be nice if we could make them bigger or smaller and/or use transparent bits and all that, but I guess we'll have to wait and see what they work out for us. This has, however, been suggested loads of times...and discussed a lot, too. It's a good suggestion, even though it's a bit redundant. It's even been suggested that we be able to recolor our parts and I personally would love, LOVE to see that type of feature someday. Ideally, it would work like the Dawn of War army painter, where you have a base color, a secondary color and one or two trim options as well. You'd select the color for each using a color wheel with a brightness slider and maybe even a transparency or saturation slider as well. Maybe even include a handful(or more) of patterns. Like, this one's diagonal stripes, this one's polka-dots, this one's got no special pattern, it's just solid colors and so on. If they wanted to go all-out and really make the people happy, they'd develop something akin to what you can do in APB: Reloaded. Talk about amazing customization through simply changing colors or using basic shapes and simple images to create your own decals and place them wherever you'd like on your vehicle. I'd even like to(and I know other people would too as I've seen it suggested before) be able to change the color scheme of the kerbonauts' suits. Maybe I want Jeb to have a black suit with red trim 'cause he's the badass of the party whereas Bill would be dressed in blue 'cause he's more calm and collected. Meanwhile, Bob is turqwaz and urrnge 'cause he be craaaaaaazy! Of course, I doubt any of that will get implemented...ever. Would be really nice, though. Especially for RP series or even just streaming, blogging, vlogging and simply showing off screenshots or videos to friends. In the end, though, we'll probably just have a basic decal feature that functions essentially like the flags, except we can place them onto the surface of our vehicles....which isn't all that bad, honestly.
  19. Things like throwing paper airplanes, playing golf on other planets and so on could count as silly kerbal experiments. I mean, humans have done similar things in the name of science(and shenanigans) so who's to say kerbals wouldn't want to do those things too? As for things like trying to light a campfire on another planet...that's just silly and kind of needless. I'm all for adding things, even silly things so long as they're sensible and can serve some kind of purpose(even if you have to stretch the explanation a bit) but completely frivolous things that have no real function are a bit too much, even for me.
  20. What unity can't do now is slightly irrelevant 'cause it may well be very easy to do in Unity by next year(when the game should be nearing completion).
  21. It wouldn't be pointless. It wouldn't add anything mechanically to mun, but it would certainly give you something to do research on...which will be half the point of career mode. You could even have a mission to build a very low-orbiting atmospheric probe that scoops up what little atmosphere there is after a couple orbits and beams the data back to KSC. If a suggestion adds some depth...or just something more to do in KSP then it's always a welcome suggestion in my book.
  22. Scott Manley suggested that there should be hidden parts of a stargate like structure located randomly throughout the Kerbol system. If you collected them, dragged them back to KSC and put them together, that's how you'd get from Kerbol to the other solar systems(if/when they come out with them, that is). Either that or doing science on all or most of the munolith type structures as a prerequisite for unlocking warp technologies at the very end of your research progression. Other people have suggested that they should just give you a big heap of science points for doing research at the various easter eggs. Some people think that defeats the purpose of having the easter eggs. As for the other solar systems, they'd said that there'd be a couple of them that were predefined, with specific planets and what-not. Those would be the first solar systems you'd travel to. Beyond them, there'd be procedurally generated solar systems...I guess to encourage exploration and random stories that people come up with in games like this. I don't know if that's still the plan, but I guess we'll find out eventually~
  23. This has been suggested loads of times. I don't know if it's planned, but since it's such a popular suggestion...and the devs surely realize that even the stock list of crafts is rather large, it seems inevitable that they'll implement something along these lines. Tabs, submenus or just plain folders. It's probably just a low priority at the moment 'cause they're working on big career mode stuff for the time being.
  24. KSP isn't a beta yet, we're still in the alpha stage. Beta's not 'till...I think they said when they get career mode more or less finished up, that's when we shift to beta mode. Anyways, mining is kind of planned, but the system they'd devised for it may or may not get scrapped for something simpler(I really hope not, needs more complexity, MORE STUFF D: ). The physics thing they'll undoubtedly work on at some point...but right now there's engine limitations they can't quite get around. However, they'll probably come up with their own interesting solution to drag calculations whenever they get around to rebuilding the aerodynamics...which might not be 'till right before beta time. Then again, I wouldn't know what their update schedule is, so don't pay me no mind on that XD
  25. I like deep, complex progression systems in games and I'm going to love having restrictions 'cause it'll force me to flex my miniscule imagination and creativity. Even moreso if we get some reasonably complex life support and things that require maintenance or repairs after a while. Basically, the more things we need to do or plan around, the better. Of course, I do still enjoy sandbox mode...and a lot of people surely prefer playing it and there's even a lot of people that'll probably never touch career mode. But for me, career mode is where it's at...I'm trying not to play too much KSP before career mode is implemented(mostly) just so I can still have all those firsts while knowing that I did it with game-defined restrictions like budget and tech level. To me and to many others...that feeling of achievement can only be found in career mode...nothing we do in sandbox will ever have quite the gravity of doing things in career mode.
