  1. Thanks Mike, I literally just uploaded the revised stuff to Curse and Stuff, but send me the link for the latest and I'll change it again. My changes have mostly been cosmetic (names and descriptions). I think we might want to power the Hetch drive down a bit. At 20,000, the SAS literally can't control the ship at full throttle. It's just way more power than what would be useful. Let me know what you think it should be. I'm wondering if we'd want to lower the IASA logo so that it's not covered by the Hetch, but part of me likes it that way, it's a good way to signal the difference between the standard and the upgraded versions. Let me hear from anyone with an opinion on this. No trouble about not knowing the show. I gotta be useful for something. With any luck, you can take a look, either online or get yourself the DVD's. You'll be glad you did. It's a great show. - - - Updated - - - Also, just a minor tweak, but we might make them a little more bronze than gold. This shot of Moya shows the coloring pretty well. Still, minor issue at this point. Finally found a clear shot. I'd been going through the episodes trying to find one that showed the spikes clearly. Totally forgot to check season 1. Here's what we're looking for Please, whatever you do, don't add that big ugly spike and cup on the nose. The main module that we have is a thing of beauty and I'm sure they took that nose cup off for the rest of the show. (Actually looked more and it's an umbilical for repairs, so disregard it.) But this gives a clearer image of what the propulsion spikes look like. The white tips are actually pretty good I think, more metal than bright white, but we're getting pretty close. Check this video at about 10:30 for some good shots. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1yx2je_farscape-1x11-till-the-blood-runs-clear-airvideo_tech
  2. Mike, Smokin hot as ever, thanks for putting the work in! I hate looking a gift horse in the mouth, but, I did have a couple of notes. The hetch drive parts should be gold (all Moya's components are sort of a golden-brass color). The spikes coming out the front should probably not extend past the nose. I love the look, but just a tad shorter would be better. At this length, I'm a little worried they'd play hell with the re-entry profile. I've been thinking about scenarios to build, as a fun addition to the mod. Two come to mind. One is the initial Farscape test done during the show (though we'll need an orbiter for that. Wonder where we could get one...) where we have the shuttle Collaroy take Farscape 1 (standard) into orbit. The challenge will be to burn a free-return trajectory around the Mun and then make a landing on the runway at KSC. Another good scenario (borrowed from the Orbiter mod) would be a drop test from an aerial platform and a landing on the runway. Along with that, we could do an X-15 style flight with a sub-orbital (or even orbital objective) and have Farscape act as sort of a testbed for shuttle technology to come. That'd be different from the show, but still fun, at least for me. I love flight-testing scenarios. Also, FWIW, on the show, they were able to fit 2 people inside the module, even though it was designed for one (though they didn't have super-puffy bubble helmets. I'm not suggesting we fit another seat or anything, but, that would make it more useful as a rescue vehicle, if that's something we want to think about. Been trying to find screenshots from the show to use as a reference. Will likely have to break out my show discs. This episode had some good shots of the module, but I still haven't found a screenshot that shows the hetch drive all that clearly. (about 21 mins in, BTW, this is the WORST episode the show ever made). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9gNtrGG_8s Also, for down-the-road someday, we could do the cartoon version if we ever do that motor-bike mod that we talked about, this could be a fun companion piece for it. But it's more whimsy than suggestion. Can't thank you and spock enough for crafting such a sweet mod!
  3. Guys, I was doing some tweaking to give the engine another attachment node at the rear. I tried adding the line node_stack_bottom = 0.0, -10.3, 0.0, 0.0, -1.0, 0.0 right under the node_stack_top line. It doesn't seem to be working. Any advice?
  4. Good to know! Gonna do an update later today. I'll give the craft files their own folder. Anything else that anyone noticed that needs fixing? All ears
  5. Right-o, got you on the front page now and we'll add your name to the part files in the next update. Thanks Spock!
  6. My download works in 1.0.4, but it only works in that it appears correctly on the screen. When you fire up the engines, it's not the same at all. I don't think that's a texturing issue, but I don't really know.
  7. Updated Curse and KerbalStuff. Wing characteristics are updated as are some of the names. Mike- where did you find the picture? I'll want to take a look at that source. And we probably need to look at moving the CG, that's why the ship can't take off until it hits the end of the runway. It's got to have a way to push down on the back end. And for you guys who wanted to see a kerbal in the cockpit
  8. Angus, Just FYI, I've been doing so many other things lately that I forgot to mention it. Using KIS and KAS, I brought all the pieces for the rollkage to the Mun and assembled a nice hot-rod Red sand rail for bombing around in my crater base. I'll post a couple pics later tonight. Thanks for a great mod buddy!
  9. Just wanted to renew my quest for the Mech-Pod. If you'd be willing to set me up with the basics, I'd be happy to try and tweak the code myself to get her working right. Maybe slap a new coat of paint and make Mech-Pod Mk. 2?
  10. Haven't finished trying to build one yet, but I think it's actually more intuitive than I was thinking. Will keep you posted. In the meantime, for anyone who likes sci-fi, check out the Farscape mod. (Link in my signature)
  11. Was doing my first flight testing with XR-1 over the weekend. She seems a little sluggish on take-off. More accurately, in a climb. I can get her in the air (using the mains, I haven't tried the hover engines) but, it's a lot easier going forward than going up. Anyone else having similar issues and/or a fix or recommendation on flight profiles?
  12. In the show, Farscape was launched from a shuttle in orbit to test high-speed maneuvers. The X-planes mod that Mike-NZ has may offer a way to do some atmospheric drop tests. It's certainly something we'll look into.
  13. To all, I'm at work currently and not able to do everything I'd like to update the mod. (Parts yes, but the craft files will need updating as well.) I'll be back in front of a Kerbal-ready computer in 8 hours. Should have all sites updated shortly after. Stay tuned for updated manuevering! Thanks for your patience! - - - Updated - - - We're working on a hetch drive part configuration (i.e. so it looks like a hetch drive, with the gold spikes) but in the meantime, the standard Farscape config (not the Farscape One, but the one with the big red tank) should give you all the feel of a hetch drive, plus a little extra. It's our get-the-heck-outta-there special.
  14. Yeah, send me a message with the download. I'll do an update. I assume this is about flaps and/or control surfaces?
  15. Mike- thanks for letting me host. To all, you can find the Farscape module under this forum post. Farscape Mod
  16. Farscape Module Houston, this is Farscape One, I am free and flying From Mike-NZ and CommanderSpock comes a sci-fi hot rod for jetting all around the Kerbal system. It's the Farscape module. Farscape from KerbalStuff Farscape from Curse Comes with 2 variations: Farscape One - with a limited (but powerful) engine running off of standard fuel and oxidizer, perfect for testing out slingshot maneuvers or when you just want to get away from it all. Farscape (Hetch) - which is gonna haul you anywhere you want to go at near-ludicrous speeds. You'll feel like you were shot out of a wormhole. Moya's Hetch drive is alien technology, so handle with care. Note to hot shots, don't try to go full throttle with this bad boy in low atmo, the air will rip you apart in under 20 seconds flat. Handle that throttle with care. A great mod for kids and astronauts new to the game. Can be hideously overpowered, but, as it's based on a sci-fi ship designed for high-speed flight testing, we think it's a good choice for zipping around the Uncharted Territories. Look upward and share the wonders I've seen - John Crichton Also comes with an IASA flag for your flagpole
  17. Went semi-direct. Got a mothership (the Orca) in orbit ready to take my boys home when the time comes. Landed a Rodan with a full tank to do the ascent. 3 unmanned landings, one manned. Just finished a 70km drive into the rift valley. Tomorrow I'm gonna make my turn North and head for the crater at the end and inflate a pathfinder base at the face. Nerdvana!
  18. Also, for anyone interested, I made a flag for the IASA logo. In case you really want to get into Farscape more And what the hey, here's a mission flag
  19. Mike - Love what you did here. As the board's resident Farscape expert (if I may be so bold) I had a quick recommendation. In the show, they actually covered this bit of info. Crichton's module is designed for high-speed gravity assist (slingshot) tests in Earth orbit. Later, after he's encountered Moya, he adapts some of her parts to equip Farscape for long-range flight The gold pieces on the sides of the nose and at the rear match Moya's gold components. Not asking you to redo anything, just putting this as an FYI. Note: image is from the Orbiter mod. Had a hard time finding a good screenshot from the show online. Still, it's an accurate read.
  20. Doing an in-field repair of the rover after it was damaged on landing was one of the more satisfying moments I've had in KSP. (And I've had a lot). First Kerbal-ed landing on Duna USI and KAS are great mods. Keep up the good work.
  21. Mike, This is amazing. Always wanted to fly a Farscape and an X-20. If there's ever a Kerbal-con or something, I'm gonna buy you a whole plate of NC BBQ. John Crichton forever! BTW, the screenshot you posted of him with the long beard laying on the module was from a season 1 episode called Jeremiah Crichton, which is, quite literally, the worst of the 88 episodes. Still, even a bad Farscape episode is better than a lot of other TV. John Crichton was here!
  22. Mike-NZ, Just thought I'd pass this along. It's the Farscape module. Pretty close to the X-38. Not exact, but when I get the X-38, I know what I'm naming it. Are you and/or anyone else working on the X-20 still? I know there was conversation about it a few weeks back.
  23. For a good example of this, look at the pilot episode of Farscape. The Farscape module (essentially an upgraded X-38) is launched from a shuttle in orbit. Very cool show. If you get the chance, I'd love to see an X-38 Farscape configuration.
