  1. Anyone know how much trouble it'd be to put a proper hatch on the command pods so you can go EVA without a lot of hassle?
  2. Cool, That was what I was looking for. To me, that seems like the right size, but the thing handles like it's got all it's weight in the back. The center of gravity means that the nose rises at the slightest provocation. Still looks awesome though
  3. All the posts on this have confused me. So, my understanding is that the problems in 0.25 are mostly a firespitter issue. Does anyone have a working 0.25 KSP that uses altnames and functions fully or are we still in a holding pattern until there is a firespitter update?
  4. It would have the bay be useless, but I'm not a fan of the bay in the first place. The real DC doesn't have it and this one is already pretty small to begin with. DC is mostly for ferrying astronauts. Any supplies it takes are stored inside, though they are minimal. It's not meant to be a payload launcher.
  5. Any chance I could get this on a smaller scale? I'd like to shrink this down so that the rear adapter fits on a 1.25 meter part (essentially the smaller standard fuel tank). I tried tweaking the scaling options, but so far I haven't gotten it right (only worked on it about 10 minutes last night). I fly a lot of missions with the KSO and I wanted to scale this back a bit so that it wasn't almost the same size as KSO.
  6. Any thoughts on launching this? I built Discovery, put it on the pad and fired up the engines to full and she went nowhere (not that I was expecting that to work). She's not designed for atmospheric flight. Personally, I'd love to build her one piece at a time with KSO. Anyone have a good launching method?
  7. I don't think this is so much a bug as just I might be using it wrong. I'm playing around with the rover on 0.25 (first time using the rover). Forward is "S", Reverse is "W" Left and right are "A" & "D" respectively. The rover goes forward and reverse just fine, but the left and right steering seems sluggish. It'll turn, but even holding down the buttons the turn radius is huge. Is this just how it is or am I doing something wrong? I was able to fix the "wheels sinking into the runway" issue, so I'm betting it's not that. Thoughts?
  8. I'm trying to build Discovery from 2001 with the Deep Space Pack. If I can figure out a way to make the command pod hold them (or even if they have to stay outside), I'll need a service bubble.
  9. Yeesh! Yeah, I was totally remembering that differently. I was trying to draw a 3-view today before I saw this. This is as far as I got. http://i.imgur.com/97Ymcoo.png Okay, clearly I had a different shape in mind. Something more like a cross between a space shuttle cockpit and a pickup truck cab. Thanks SpannerMonkey for the trip down memory lane. Still, I think there's potential here, though I prefer the shape I had in my head. SpannerMonkey - got anymore pics from MSS of the other ships? Callisto perhaps? or the ATL? Thanks!
  10. I always wanted to fly the Zander Freighter from Microsoft Space Simulator one more time. (Had the game when I was a kid, it was a little too advanced for me at the time though). Zander Freighter (I've scoured the internet for photos, but came up with nothing) had an angular, somewhat small cockpit (think like the top half of the space shuttle's forward section, but more boxy) and then had a long, straight fuselage for the length of the ship leading to the main engines far at the rear. Cargo modules hung off the left and right of the fuselage in big orange tanks (shielded from forward debris by the wide cockpit) and could be added and discarded as needed. The whole effect was a cross between 2001's Discovery and a freight train in space. Any skilled modders up to the challenge? I can try to make some drawings of what I remember of it. It's still fairly clear in my head. I think the cockpit would be the trickiest bit. After that the basics would come together fairly clean. The finished product would make a great mod for interplanetary delivery craft.
  11. NC State Aerospace Engineering - Class of 2008 Master's Degree - class of 2010 Go Pack! With the space economy being what it is, KSP is one of the few places I actually get to practice what I always wanted to be doing anyway.
  12. For what it's worth, I tweaked my own copy of this to fly 2 kerbals instead of one to give it that "Gemini" feel. Did some flight testing last night and she flies like a dream. I'm going to have a lot of fun this weekend recreating the Gemini missions in this baby.
  13. Fantastic! KSP has always been missing a Gemini-analog and I'm thrilled to have one now. Can't wait to fly this baby! Even the cockpit is exactly as I hoped it'd be.
  14. Can anyone advise me on what I'm doing wrong? I've got a Windows 32 bit install and the only mods I'm using are KSO and Mechjeb 2. I have a few custom skins for my orbiters, but I don't think it's anything too extreme. I'm using the ATM that is on the KSO install, but just to make sure, I tried downloading the x86 release's KSO CFG file as well. My game keeps crashing. I'm using relatively low graphics, (1152x864 graphics, "good" render quality). Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

  17. Does anyone have the files for the old MJ command pod from before MJ 2.0. The sphere with the heat shield/fuel tank, the legs and the engines? I really liked that little pod and I thought I'd see if I could get it going again.
  18. I got what I think is the latest version. The parts are there all right, but they don't seem to do anything. There's no menu that comes up when I right click them. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
  19. Thanks for the heads up. Is it still available anywhere, even as a relic? Do the files exist in any form that would be useful for 0.24.2?
  20. I've got (what I thought at least) is the current version and I'm not seeing it. I'm in sandbox mode and I can't find it. There is a conical MJ command probe, but it's not like the spherical one I mentioned, nor do I have the engines, legs and shield.
