I don't know how stable it would be, eventually you will get an encounter (and likely a collision with) the mun. But wouldn't it be the same altitude as the mun in a circular orbit? Disregard the above, I didn't quite understand what you were saying... Yeah, like the guy below me said, you can only have one gravity well acting upon you at a time.

I agree, command pods should have the option for a built in heat shield, with added weight of course.

I guess another guess would be the engine sound and the splash sound interfering with each other. Does the sound play when you have momentum with the engines off?

Switching to docking mode keeps the rover controls online but does not affect orientation.

It could be a glitched "splash" sound effect. Does it just make the sound in water?

Try deleting the settings document in your game folder and it will make a new one when it restarts.

For the very basic way, burn upwards to 100K, then burn right until you are in orbit. This is highly inefficient, but easiest to pilot.

Aero braking should not be effected too much since you are just skimming the atmosphere, not plunging through it.

I never liked the, "Make it toggle able" argument. Games should be at least to some degree consistent.

I think NASA is trying to challenge KSP.

You might have had timewarp at 5x, so it is easy to not notice that you didn't turn it all the way off. I do that all the time.
