  1. Well, he has another AAR going, so probably a while.
  2. 1. HOW LONG IS THE SALE? 2. When will we see the Duna Base team again? Other than that, fantastic AARs in both CK2 and KSP.
  3. Has anyone else noticed that it's impossible to properly put wheels on the RoveMate rover body?
  4. Nutt, that would be ridiculously difficult to launch from and it would be tedious as all hell. The last thing this game needs is bigger planets. About the multiplayer: Squad will need to announce it before it will be official to me.
  5. You really are obsessed with your beloved Medwedia, aren't you?
  6. Rating of the map: 0/10, just real names with K added in. It's what is called K-Syndrome.
  7. All flights in progress operated by the Alkhavan Celestial Exploration Bureau (ACEB) are unmanned, spelling doom as of now. However, let's say that the first rock was destroyed by some sort of cannon, smashed into shards too small to cause real damage. Then another one is spotted, but won't hit for a while. Manned flight would be kicked into overdrive (which I plan to do) and orbital colonies would be launched, as well as smaller craft that would be sent to other planets.
  8. I believe mine was the Skyforger I, made in the demo and named for an Amorphis album. My first orbiter was the Sampo V.
  9. 10/10 you were on the RP and you build stuff.
  10. This is a story in the same vein as JakeGrey's Next Frontier: no pictures, just words. Considering my piloting, I don't think you'd want to see me flying anything. And yes, I did get the name Rifter not only from the fact that this thing has an FTL drive, but also from the Minmatar frigate of the same name. Enjoi the soi sauce. -- For two centuries, kerbalkind had advanced, particularly in the fields of flash-cloning and space travel. Their space program had gone from an upstart founded by amateurs for the thrill of adventure to an internationally-recognized entity that routinely flew manned missions into deep space. During the time of the beginning of the space program, work had begun on "biological replication," as cloning was called in scientific papers, but it was still all theory and politics. Now, some kerbs had achieved immortality (that is to say, the ones in the space program). However, since the dawn of kerbal space travel methods of leaving the Kerbol system were deemed too expensive or illogical, but not this one. This method was sound, as was the science behind it. Created by a kerb named Markuz Al-Kerbiyir, the drive was powered by exotic forms of matter and could theoretically accelerate a craft to ten times the speed of light. Nobody except the brightest scientists in the Kerbal Space Program actually knew what these forms were, so they were essentially classified; a good thing for the main sponsor country, Arkavtia. For two decades, the scientists of the KSP slaved away on research for the Al-Kerbiyir Drive, or simply the Alkerb Drive, and by the eighteenth year of research funding for the project had nearly dried up. Then a young scientist named Manley accumulated eighty grams of the main power source of the Alkerb Drive in a canister. He was hailed as the greatest mind of his generation and Arkavtia raised the funding for the project by fifty million kerbits. By the twentieth year, a prototype mounted on a probe had flown to Eeloo, and another had boosted the manned Ethereal Solitude Research Station into high Kerbol orbit. By the twenty-first year, the first Alkerb Drive had been constructed and a mission had been planned: the Rifter, a triumph of kerbal engineering. Construction of the ship took five years, the final planning two. But it was finally done, twenty-eight years after Alkerb Drive research began. The crew was selected from the bravest and brightest doctors, commanders, pilots, scientists and engineers the KSP had. Crew List for Rifter Spacecraft Jebediah Kerman (mission commander, badass, Bill and Bob's brother, Scott, Kurt and Anna's cousin) Bill Kerman (pilot, FTL Drive controller, Bob and Jeb's brother, Kurt, Scott and Anna's cousin) Bob Kerman (pilot, sublight engine controller, Jeb and Bill's brother, Kurt, Scott and Anna's cousin) Scott Kerman-Manley (scientist, exotic matter specialist, telescope operator) Kurt James Kerman (scientist, probe operator, sapientologist, Jeb, Bill, and Bob's cousin, brother of Anna) Linda Dobrev (engineer, power control) Fritz William Lundferd (scientist, anomalous artifact specialist) Anna Kerman (cousin of Jeb, Bill, Bob, and Scott, sister of Kurt, scientist, antimatter and theoretical physics specialist) Jennifer Cerenkov (engineer, radiation shielding and radiation specialist) Nigel Burkefield (doctor, flight surgeon general) Bethany Kerbland (doctor, burn and disease specialist, psychologist) Angelika Vykus (engineer, FTL Drive maintenance) These twelve kerbs would embark on the longest journey any kerbal had ever been on, all aboard the Rifter. The date of their boarding was Dezvrya 8th, 2215, a date which no kerbal would ever forget. -- "Ladies and gents, welcome back to space." Jebediah Kerman said the first words to the new crew of the Rifter as their Panthalassa orbital transport drifted toward the freshly-minted FTL ship. The Rifter had inside it the most advanced technology that kerbalkind had to offer, including an advanced AI, named Keitan; two ring-shaped Alkerb Drives mounted on the rear; seven nuclear engines, arranged in a ring around the Alkerb Drives; four nuclear reactors; a research module; two Kantele manned landers; and three missile/gatling gun turrets. There was also a full suite of computers and an entertainment module to keep the crew sane during their two-year-long voyage. "Load up. All crew, get to your stations." The engineers scrambled to their monitors, the scientists to the research module, and the pilots to the bridge. Jeb pulled himself into the commander's seat in the cupola window module and strapped himself in. "Prepare for trial run. Set target at Duna and rotate." "Roger, Jeb." The Rifter slowly turned itself toward Duna's current position. "Fire Alkerb Drive engines." "Firing." All of the crew felt a sudden jolt as their vessel shot away from Kerbin and toward the red planet. A blue-purple trail emanated from the Alkerb Drives as they fired. "We are away. Bill, what's our ETA to Duna?" "It's... I don't believe this! ETA is two hours and thirty-seven minutes!" "Impressive. Alright, Angelika, get right on maintenance of the drives. We don't want them to fail while we're in the middle of nowhere." "Aye, sir. Beginning first check." -- Two hours later, the Rifter had entered Duna's SOI and docked at a Velde Metalworks station in orbit to refuel. The crew was patting each other on the back for a successful first run. "Woohoo! Sea trials are done, let's get out of here!" "We need more fuel, Fritz. If we don't fuel up then we'll go shooting past our target." "Anna, you're a downer." After the celebrations concluded and the fuel was piped in, the FTL ship undocked from the station and set its target to its real destination: the Sigma Rendarra system, 20 light-years away. As the ship would be traveling at 10c, this would take a mere two years. "We are away from the Velde Metalworks station. Prep for interstellar jump. Angelika, what's the status of the engines?" "ExMatter level is 100%, target is set, all engines undamaged." "Perfect. Bill, jump on my mark." "Mark." Whoosh...
  11. Yeah, that will not happen. We don't like to talk about KSP multiplayer. I'd kinda like more planets, even though my piloting is terrible.
  12. Wow, this must be a record for a thread like this. I'm surprised the Hand of the Mods hasn't slapped it down already. But I am for kerbal genders. I don't know, it's kinda boring looking at the same kerbs every day. I'd like some variety.
  13. I vote Jool. It seems like the most kerbal thing to do.
  14. Tried it. Still wouldn't fire. I tried moving the plugin file to the GameData folder, remapping the keys, everything. Nothing would work.
  15. I cannot seem to reset the key binding for the fire button. I've set it to "t" in the part.cfg, but it will not work!
  16. Sorry for necro-posting, but are there any updates on this story?
  17. STOP. PUTTING. K. IN. FRONT. OF. ALL. THE. NAMES. PLEASE. IT DOES NOT MAKE IT SOUND ANY MORE KERBAL. Decent storyline; that's my take. Just lay off the K names.
  18. I think this is in the wrong sub-forum. There's no .craft file, only an image.
  19. Why do people always add K to things-examples: Amerika, Koviet, etc.-to make them sound kerbal? IT DOES NOT SOUND KERBAL. It just shows that you have a deadly disease known as K-Syndrome.
  20. At least the US has reliable ABM(?) defenses, now in Guam! On-topic, I like the timeline. Make more lore, please.
