  1. You should say that to a real lunar geologist. I think he would laugh pretty hard. I believe SpaceX will get us to Mars but 2024. They're on track.
  2. People tell you stupid things -- such as "change your inclination in orbit". Try to forget you were ever told that. It's a huge waste of Delta-V and propellant. The best way to go is to warp until Minmus's orbit is aligned and passes over the launch center. Then launch into a 6 degree inclination (north or south, depending on Minmus's orbit). That way, the second you achieve orbit, you will already be on plane to do the transfer. No wasted delta-v to change inclination later on.
  3. It kind of reminds me of some website a 10 year old might make -- just writing a story. There is no way to know where we will be by 2070. Most of us here will still be alive. So let's wait around and see.

  9. This rocket is way too big. You don't need nearly that much Delta-V to get to the Mun.
  10. But it doesn't look like a Titan-II.... And the Titan-II did not bring the Gemini "halfway to orbit". It brought it all the way. It was a two stage vehicle.
  11. No. You're too high to be experiencing drag. The ISS's orbit goes down because it is not *completely* out of all atmosphere. But once you hit 70km, you should be completely out of all atmopshere.

  16. Yes, but your thrust to weight ratio and your attitude of applied thrust determines how quickly it moves away from you. It is possible to surpass your Apoapsis while launching, you know.

  18. My solution -- don't start using MechJeb. At least not right away. Download MechJeb only after you're completely familiar with orbital mechanics and know you can pilot any mission manually. Because otherwise you'll find yourself forever relying on a computer to do everything for you. And that's...well...boring. Good luck in your travels through the vacuum of space and welcome to KSP.
  19. This is what I do. I never let my Apoapsis get within about 3km of my altitude. Even 5km is too close. And ideally, I want to end up with a Periapsis that is positive when MECO comes around. You can keep your Apoapsis ahead of you if you have a higher Thrust to Weight Ratio. But anything above -150km for a periapsis at MECO is fine enough. Just keep those things in mind and you can actually control your attitude and thrust as you ascend based on that.
  20. ISP is a measure of the engine's efficiency. Completely forget you EVER read the word "fuel consumption" in KSP. It's irrelevant and that's why it was replaced. Specific Impulse is what you need to know fuel usage. It's basically the amount of thrust expended per unit of fuel -- depending on the units you're using. Sometimes it's in seconds, sometimes it's written in meters per second -- in KSP, it's seconds. Look up the Tsiolkovsky Rocket Equation to get an idea of how to use specific impulse.
