[1.2/1.3] Real Scale Sea Dragon 0.3.4 (2016-07-12)
The Destroyer replied to NecroBones's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hydrolox stages don't have to be balloon - Centaur might be a balloon, but Saturn stages like S-II and S-IVB weren't. Balloon tanks are pressurized, but not the kind of pressure to feed an engine. Yes, they were supposed to be pressure fed engines. (I'm not familiar with ROs configs so I don't know what the name of pressure-fed tank is) I also noticed your RP-1 configs being cost * 1.2. The first and second stage are about 1.6 million funds each by default, so 3.9 million funds for Sea dragon engines in RP1 - since each fund in RP1 is 1,000 US 1965 dollars, that would put the cost of Sea Dragon at nearly *4 billion dollars* per launch. Yikes! For comparison, a Saturn-derived launcher in RP1 to get 500 tons into LEO is about 400k funds, or about 400 million dollars. -

Nice! I should note though that you set the tank type to "Balloon" which is not a high pressure tank for the pressure-fed engines. -
Sending a Saturn V to SATURN and its inner moons [RSS/RO]
The Destroyer replied to The Destroyer's topic in KSP Fan Works
A grand tour would be pretty fun. I've already planned landers to every planet in the system for my Terminal Velocity series, all at once would be... something. My CPU is an i5-4460, so hardly a small supercomputer! -
Sending a Saturn V to SATURN and its inner moons [RSS/RO]
The Destroyer replied to The Destroyer's topic in KSP Fan Works
I had plans for this for awhile, but seeing Carnasa start doing it motivated me to continue! Our plans are a bit different though: Carnasa will send a full 3,000t Sat V to Saturns orbit and maybe flyby moons,, while I use its propellant tanks in order to land on two of the Moons. EDIT to your edit: - The FPS when launching was terrible, 1 fps, maybe less. It's sped up a *lot*. - Random probe, probably an ion engine testbed I was working on. -
I sent a Saturn V.... to Saturn!

Yeah - the rover is set to "Up" so it's the same as the probe core, but I guess PT sees the other possible control directions of the rover body and dislikes it. The only other issue I'm having is when PT seems to block time warping fully - can't do physics warp or on-rails warp, regardless if the engine is throttled up or not. Sometimes quicksaving or scene switching will fix it, but I'm not sure why it locks up in the first place.

Trying to figure out what I'm missing: The one with the rover doesn't work - it will do normal persistent thrust but it won't hold heading, won't do background processing, the other one will. Same power source, same fuel, same engine, yet nonfunctional. https://imgur.com/a/DB1XmkC EDIT: After decoupling the rover, it works. hmm, interesting. I re-rooted to the probe instead of the rover and now it works, that's fun.

I've tried it with normal SAS hold and prograde hold. going to tracking station while time warp is normal and thrust is on, or timewarp 10x with thrust on, using a VASMIR from near future propulsion (I'm using RSS/RO, kerbalism with ROkerbalism configs, KSP 1.8.1)... it works great in normal flight but I can't get it to do background processing, and I'm not sure why. I *did* get it to work once before a few weeks ago in testing, but I'm not sure what I'm missing now. I'm also not sure how "persistent heading" works. I have Persistent rotation, so maybe that's conflicting? What would the best way for me to figure this out? Send you a log and video?

[KSP 1.12.3] Bon Voyage (1.4.1) - 2022-10-02
The Destroyer replied to maja's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yeah a configuration would be nice - I'm using real solar system and 1.8.1 & my rovers spawn underground every time. Probably an issue with RSS - If I hyperedit something to "land" at 20 meters, it'll be 10m above the surface. -
Finished up EP12 of my series where I start expanding operations on the Moon!

Finally finished assembling my crewed Mars landing vehicle in LEO!
-
Technically not today (forgot to post here), but I finished editing my mission to Mars & a few other things two days ago.
-
Bit late, kind of forgot the forums. Here's EP11.

[KSP 1.12.3] Bon Voyage (1.4.1) - 2022-10-02
The Destroyer replied to maja's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It seems the mod doesn't work with Realism Overhauls RTGs, probably because it patches them in some way (ROs RTGs don't last forever). I really want to use it in my save, but solar is useless beyond Mars. EDIT: Just discovered "infinite electricity" works for a workaround, that's nice. -
Did some work on the second generation of Mercury rovers.
