  1. I imagine a lot of UFO sightings are people seeing satellites or the ISS. You know, fast moving objects going across the night sky.
  2. The fact that the cargo bay's doors clip through the engines when they open bothers me more than you can ever imagine.
  3. Yeah, instead of people going "Why are we going to the moon, we were already there, there are things more important to solve here", people will be going "What the hell are you people doing spending all our tax money on sending people to Venus when we could be doing something actually useful?!"
  4. Heh, a while ago I had a little homemade thing with a card fuselage and a nosecone made from the lid of a pen, some blu-tack and superglue. It used little 1/4A motors, and for recovery the motor's own ejection charge would send it flying out of the back of the fuselage (instead of pushing a parachute out). I made the mistake of launching the thing in a field with tall grass and many cow pats. It was quite sad watching the entire thing work perfectly only to disappear.
  5. Look up pair production. Charge is always conserved when matter is formed from energy, and since energy doesn't have a charge the net charge of the universe must equal 0.
  6. Descending into the middle of Jool's atmosphere would probably cause drag such that you wouldn't be able to leave the atmosphere again. Also you'd probably burn up.
  7. I'm having some trouble assigning my joystick button to fire. I've tried changing "mouse 0" to "JoystickButton0" (which is what it shows as in KSP's settings), but it doesn't seem to fire when I press it. The button itself works fine.
  8. I remember back when the only mods around were Sunday Punch and the goon parts.
  9. There's the dying one with the continuation of the old community (which you specifically requested that I never ever under any circumstances unban you from), and no others to my knowledge. Roleplaying on this forum stopped being a thing when we started being toxic to the rest of the forum (which is why we moved, years ago), and I'm pretty sure the rule's in place to avoid that kind of thing from leaking back here. I don't think the whole linking to it part was ever really enforced, considering for a long time there was even a stickied thread in the fanworks section advertising it (and I think we did get permission from one of the mods here to advertise a little). Also I think this is probably the wrong place for this thread, seeing as fanworks has no real relation to the roleplay board aside from being a semi-successor to it.
  10. He didn't make the technology, bail-outs from spacecraft would be lethal without a capsule due to re-entry heating and wearing a space suit in a plane is unfeasible. Much as he's well within his rights to spend his spare money on a mostly useless activity (as every gamer, holiday-goer and hobbyist does), don't pretend that this was anything more than that.
  11. There's a lot of hate here considering all he wants is a differently textured kerbal head.
  12. *Turn by banking and yawing in the same direction (at the same time) whilst pulling the stick up only very slightly to prevent the nose from falling or rising.
  13. When you unlock it it moves back down, which cancels out the moving up.
  14. You can't build ultra-strong cables from balls of rubble. The only material we know of that would work for this is carbon nanotubes, and they're really expensive right now, and you'd need an unholy amount of them.
  15. Cleaning a cut to stop it getting infected is also delaying the inevitable. After all, they're going to die whether it's from infection at twenty or organ failure at eighty. Humanity will inevitably stop being a thing, yes, but that doesn't mean we should sit back and let ourselves go extinct instead of doing all we can to prolong it for maybe a few thousand years more.
  16. I was thinking less about them consuming more resources and more about them passing on serious genetic conditions to the future generations on the craft.
  17. Much as everybody loves to go "Eugenics? Isn't that what HITLER did? EVIL EVIL OH GOD THEY'RE ALL MINI HITLERS!", I don't think it's possible to form a logical argument against it in this case. If we absolutely had to reduce the human population to 250 000, what possible grounds are there to pick a less genetically fit person over a more genetically fit person?
  18. One side will have more metal than the other due to differing designs on the coin, which means that side will land slightly more often. Also, it's more slightly likely to land on whichever side it's on when you flip it.
  19. It also has a huge amount of energy. A microlight trike goes at around 90 km/h most of the time.
