  1. I made a handful of trips yesterday assembling KSS Marathon. I'm planning to do a lot more construction on it today, but first I'll need to do a "rescue" mission... See the little dot in the upper right part of the picture? Yeah, Jeb dropped his Kerbal-catering on the spacebar and decoupled the crew pod. Thankfully, they had just undocked from Marathon and all EVA'd over. I just need to go pick them up. Planning to continue expanding the Hextruss system to add more fuel tanks, etc. I forget all the names of these mods, but they look great!
  2. Been here since 2011 as well. This is the most unique, fun game I've ever played. I don't play too often, but hope to do so more now that I have a new laptop...my desktop had issues. Whenever video games/simulators come up in conversation with friends, I always mention KSP to them. Just today I was showing the game to a coworker who was both amazed and laughing at it. The game's really what you make of it- love it!
  3. Not sure that I know anyone that has a spare card (I don't have many friends into computers), but I will check around. Good idea, thanks!
  4. Okay, sal. Will work on that, thanks! I was planning to upgrade my graphics card as it is, so I may go ahead and do that, lol. Will see if I can talk the Ministress of Lovin' and Finance into it, haha. Oh, weird that it's showing my driver isn't updated. I just installed the latest from nVidia yesterday and just checked again about 30 minutes ago. Will check it out again tho, thanks! ETA: Just checked and yes, the latest (358.50) is what is showing as installed on my machine. Where are you seeing a different one?
  5. All. The. Time. I always tell everyone I need a vacation from my vacation! Last year my wife, kids, and I went to CA to visit my family. After spending a few days, my wife and I then traveled to Hawaii to celebrate our 10 yr anniversary. Seven days later we returned to CA and spent a few more days, then took the kids and headed back home. I was beat! We just did a quick five day trip (just the four of us) to San Antonio recently. I felt the same way! Going, going, going! Make it stop, lol!
  6. Had a little time just now to play with it. I removed the old installation and downloaded a new copy from the Store, and extracted all into my C:\Games folder. I also confirmed my graphics driver is current from nVidia. (My computer has been restarted since then.) I still had the freezing/glitch issues, unfortunately. I was able to get a smaller ship up, to orbit, and back to Kerbin without it locking up completely tho! The VAB had the worst issues, once with a freeze over several minutes. Once it woke up, I was able to launch. The terrain and ship displayed a lot of glitchiness/flashing at times during flight. The altimeter was slightly glitchy as well, with one digit (the 10s of Km) not displaying. During orbit and in Map view, my blue orbit ring disappeared at times. I will say that my issues were less dramatic with this smaller ship. The larger ships over the last couple of days had more prominent display/glitch issues. Once SRBs are jettisoned it tends to run more smoothly. I ran a Dxdiag as requested: https://www.dropbox.com/s/go5srbm5xswv2zk/DxDiag.txt?dl=0 I hope that's what you're looking for. I suppose it could be as simple as my graphics card just going out. It is ~4 yrs old, and my case innards were VERY dusty (oops). Thanks again for the assistance!
  7. Thank you, sal. This will give me something to fiddle with. Will post back once I've looked into it, which may be a few days due to work.
  8. Hello, After searching recent threads, my issue sounds similar to those others have encountered, but I 1) do not have Steam installed on this computer and 2) do not, or should not, have PrecisionX, which appears to have been causing similar issues. Before I begin, know this: I'm not incredibly computer savvy. If suggestions are made to tinker with things (changing CPU affinity, which I read in another thread, for example) I'll probably need some hand holding, lol. Computer/Game information: - Game is a fresh, NO-mod version 1.0.4 - Win 7 Home Premium, 64 bit - AMD FX 8120 8-core @ 3.10 GHz - 16GB Ram - GeForce GTX 560SE **My computer just came back from the shop. It was having a lot of issues (probably due to my kids) and had to have a fresh Windows install. The ONLY thing I've put on the computer since coming back was KSP...no Steam, other games. Nothing. I have checked Java/DirectX and all appears updated. I have updated my video card driver to the latest available. Issues: First, I have never had a problem playing KSP on my machine, which I always play at max settings. Now, with KSP 1.0.4, I'm having a LOT of freezing going on. I first noticed it in the VAB. The screen would get very glitchy, would freeze, and have a lot of transparency to the KSP environment outside the VAB (sky, ground, etc.). While freezing the music/mouse continue to operate normally. I have had a couple of crashes here. When I get a ship to the launch pad and/or launch, the game freezes and is unplayable. I got a couple of ships to orbit by slewing the camera to a chase view and avoiding having the terrain in the picture. That doesn't seem to help now. I have not (IIRC) had a crash while in-flight, but it is unplayable until I'm in orbit. Then it behaves a bit, more-or-less. I have tried dropping the visuals and FPS down a bit, but doesn't seem to help. I'm including a picture from the VAB and am attempting to leave a dropbox to my Output Log. Hope this helps! I tried to follow the tacked "Before Posting" threads as best I could, but will be happy to try to provide whatever else is required. Thanks!! Also, after looking at the picture, it may have been taken when I had a couple of mods added in. However, my issues are occurring still with a clean (deleted game, re-installed), unmodded version. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fyzf8wdx3c96xex/Oct14OutputLog.txt?dl=0 _________________________________________________________ ***Update*** So I kept reading more info on possible issues. I read where it was suggested to locate the game in the Games folder vs on the desktop, which is where I've always had my files (and ran fine) in the past. I just launched the game, a fresh copy again, and had a crash in the VAB. It's weird tho because I now cannot find an output log anywhere... ????
  9. Flying it for a well-respected private company. No way could I afford the training on my own, lol.
  10. ^^^LOL! That would not end well. Think I'd get odd looks on my first flight when I say I'll turn MechJeb on?
  11. I've been busy learning to fly this!! Just passed my Learjet 45 PIC checkride last night. Now I can kill all those brain cells (that have been helping me) by playing more KSP! Hardest part will be catching up on all the mod changes/releases.
  12. I just achieved, non-Mechjeb, my most stable, circular orbit EVAR! I put this space station into a 200km orbit with Pe/Ap only 6 meters apart. Got lucky I guess! What's your best orbit? Here's Bob posing for a picture:
  13. Glad you fixed the mod, it's awesome! Just did a test run with two different descent angles. The first angle was somewhat shallow with initial speed approximately Mach 6 (initial atmospheric contact). This produced the nice visual effects seen below. The second angle was much steeper, with initial speed around Mach 4, and produced no effects. Neither attempt caused display/game freezes or failures. Edit: The two photos are from the shallow angle.
  14. Any idea what I need to do to get the small solar panels to work? In the VAB it said it's not compatible with this version of KSP. Are they part of the Sat Pack that's not being updated? I was thinking they were part of the Kethane pack. Everything else seems to be working.
  15. Hmmm...my brain is thinking about that drill bit idea of yours, Tommy... Perhaps if you found something small enough (that won't bind up) to slip on the outside of the drill bit, like a drinking straw (for example), but left the tip exposed, you could slide it in the barrel without much damage. ??? Here's a quick pic I 'shopped. Trouble would be finding a small enough bit/straw...maybe a coffee stir straw?
  16. Definitely wouldn't go the drill bit route as it'd chew up the barrell...nice idea though! If you could somehow attach something small and hooked, like a sewing needle with a bent back tip, to a rod/dowel, maybe you could get it in, hook it, and start ripping it out bit-by-bit. Forgot that you said you soaked it with oil. Yeeeeeah, would probably be oily for quite a while, haha.
  17. The first time I drank (alcohol) was when I was around 22 or 23. I'd just passed my Flight Instructor checkride and my friend came over with Goldschlagger (sp?). Nasty!! I prefer beer now.
  18. Try finding a long enough wooden dowel to put inside the barrel and use a hammer to tap it out. I don't know that I'd try to soak the paper- it sounds like a lot. If you get it soaked it probably won't budge. Let it dry out and try it again. Suck man, but don't know what else to tell ya. Next time use a standard gun cleaning patch (or a small piece of it).
  19. I did, but, admittedly, I probably didn't do the greatest job getting TO the planet in the first place, lol. I don't really know how to effectively slingshot with purpose... I can slingshot myself, but to where?? Not sure! I probably could've beefed up my first and second stages a bit as well. I'll keep working on it. So far I've only done the two quick missions.
  20. Has anyone been able to return from any of them WITHOUT cheating the fuel burns? I've made it to Eve and Duna (only two I've tried for yet), but have never had any fuel - or an intact ship for that matter - to return home. Seems incredibly challenging.
  21. As mentioned earlier, I just tried staging the heat shield in its own stage and activating it. As a previous poster said, around 20,000m the screen went black and altitude said 666666, lol. Game didn't crash, only the mission. While it's a very cool mod, looks like there might be a few bugs to work out?? Great idea and thanks for the hard work, OP.
  22. Congrats! Quite a good feeling, right? I remember when I did my first rendezvous. Felt great! Good job.
