  1. I took a year off to wait for the patching to settle down and for the mods to catch up, and have been enjoying myself in sandbox mode. Couldn't bring myself to climb the career ladder yet again. Just as well, I'd have lost interest long before being able to complete my 8 million fund kryoship. Only 9786 years to go!
  2. I lost it when someone compared Squad to murderers. Thread delivers!
  3. I was gonna say Pak'ma'ra, but that works too
  4. That sort of thing basically comes down to "if you do it don't brag about it"
  5. Hi there! Bought @ $7 and over Evil hours racked up on steam alone (> 666) and what, 15 forum posts
  6. Never kept a running total but my biggest massacre was 26 at one go, got sick of crappy framerate and deorbited a 400+ part station. I didn't even know all their names. No 'ragrets'.
  7. Not having access to some kind of pre-launch manoeuvre planning
  8. Slowly building up to explore Arkas, a Kopernicus planet. Of course mission creep dictates that I find myself juggling Ike, Moho, and Dres probes, because I can't stand to warp past all those delicious contract rewards :/ Set my interim career to 200% science to wash away the grindy feeling. Had so many restarts lately, was getting a little burned out. Will probably start with a few thousand science for 1.1, I'm tired of trudging through the early game.
  9. On my phone at the moment, will add a pic in a bit. Big milestone for me; completed my first station-based manned lander mission. Still in the backyard at Minmus, but hey. Steam screenshots failed me, so here's the lander back at station with Dr. Bob:
  10. Then I misread, my apologies (yeah, for whatever reason I was thinking R&D, ignore me
  11. When you go thumbs up and "Awww riiiiih!" instead of "That's great, thank you" and don't notice before the other party does.
  12. There is a way to edit the config files to add them, hopefully someone knowledgeable about that will post. I use the community tech tree mod, with the seti config, and they're in the right places there already. So that's an option as well.
  13. Yes, it could very well be some other linux issue sound-wise... ... - - - Updated - - - Cool, fair enough. Just thought I'd put it out there.
  14. Had an issue with the ASET sounds bundled with CMES. On new ubuntu install, with steam install, the game hung at loading various sound files. Fix was nuking the ASET Sounds dir. I added mods one by one until it hung again: came to cmes, it hung, uninstalled and it loaded, added rest of mods fine. Added cmes last, hung again. Had an epiphany and removed sounds dir and all has been well for 12+ hrs of play. Only thing I didn't do was try cmes all by itself, but was tired of waiting for game to load at that point. Latest modulemanager. Fresh cmes dl from friday. On my phone, can't search thread properly, so if this has been covered, consider me embarrassed. Could very well be some other linux issue sound-wise. Just happened to right itself when I got rid of the aset sounds.
  15. I just finished installing Ubuntu so I could use this mod along with all my others. I don't miss the win/ksp64 crashy at all.
  16. There was a minecraft modder who got around that restriction by having kept clean installs of every version himself; he ran a diff-style process on each and distributed those plus a program for users to run that would undiff from their own current valid copy. It was pretty slick. Someone somewhere has all the ksp versions.
  17. Not that I'm wholly disagreeing with any of this, but I feel a need to mitigate. Inflation has risen just over 50% since 95. That counts for some, but agreed, not all of the higher game prices. Box/print costs were replaced with server/bandwidth/IT costs (I have no idea what that ratio is though). So you can't really simplify the changes as much as you have. Other things have to be taken into consideration. It does seem like games cost more these days though. They "get away" with it, to use language implying a criminal action, because people in general make more than they did 20 years ago, and agree to pay it. I don't agree to pay $60 for any game. Steam sales and kickstarter are where I get the bulk of my games at a tiny fraction of $60, sometimes years after release. And that works for me. And finally, Steam fired up in 2003 Cheers!
