  1. I have made an intake array engine inside the fuselage : > *Edit* Please do not use this thread to argue..
  2. Made a new SSTO today... But I think I found a problem with it's design~ Went up to orbit, went around Kerbin once then de-orbited and landed at the runway.. then it did the thing like a dog with an itchy butt : I I know why... because that front fuselage has fuel and it was all used and the rear undercarriage was very close to the center of mass xD Ohh Well~ Learned something~
  3. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.. I like it..
  4. Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! Ohh boy.. you really did come in low...er than the runway. xD
  5. I agree, I would also like to see more people showing that their SSTO can be safely landed in once piece.
  6. Hehe~ Good to see you saw what I was pointing out : > I would also like to see more of the aircraft by Giggleplex777 that crashed... : I *edit* Spurred on by your new Aurora SSTO... I'm trying to make something kinda crazy.. It has 10 Jet Engines x___X
  7. If you are asking how to make an array of intakes like this, you use cubit octagonal struts. Make sure angle snap is a circle and then place the cubit octagonal strut carefully by hand, this will let you place an air intake in between each cubit octagonal strut. Maybe doing one side first then duplicating it to the other side with symmetry mode.
  8. Here is one of my SSTO's showing the center of weight, lift, and thrust to give you an idea of something that works very good. As fuel drains from tanks, weight shifts, so you will want to create a craft that... as the fuel drains, the weight does not shift back or forth or from side to side. Also, I have stripped my ship of it's wings so you can see what is underneath, as you can see I have made an array of air intakes so the higher it goes, it will be able to have air right up to and slightly over an altitude of 30000. Also placing the fuel as close to the center of weight as possible, so it's center of weight with full tanks is nearly the same as the center of weight when it has no fuel. Another thing to note is the placement of the rear landing wheels, you will want to place them just slightly aft of the center of weight, this helps you take off easier than if you had put the rear landing wheels right at the very back of the craft. Building an SSTO is probably one of the harder things to do in this game, but once you have an understanding of what you need to do it becomes rather easy. Please feel free to share any SSTO you build in the future in this thread.
  9. Find your maximum flight altitude then level out so you are not going up and not coming down, just try to stay level and go for speed. The higher you go, the more powerful those Jet Engines become, if you can provide enough air intake to them, you are going to go very very fast. but the higher you go, the thinner the air becomes, hence needing a few more than just 2 Air Intakes.
  10. Firstly you want to get as fast as you possible can on Jet Engines. if you can build a craft that can go 2000m/s on Jet engines you are doing something very right.. You want to be able to go at least 1500m/s before switching to rocket engines at the very least. Then all you need to do is bump yourself out of atmosphere with rocket engines... It seems so simple to me now, but I have been doing it for a long time. But that's basically the jist of it, going as fast as you can on Jets before pushing yourself out of atmosphere and into orbit with rocket engines.
  11. It's not broken.. I just kinda rushed it up there and didn't expect it to flame out so soon as I was looking at the altitude and not the air intake xD It can definitely be improved though. It is a nice design. *edit* Ohh cwap.. I didn't shut down the engines as I climbed xD
  12. Just tested out your Aurora SSTO.. all I can say is wow twitchy little... well.. not so little.. but damn that thing is twitchy.. You can lose control just by pulling up.. Need to fly it carefully and then it is all good. I Took it apart to see what you did with the innards... some good stuff in there ;> *edit* Just noticed while flying it that there is part of the top wing not connected together.. half way on the rear top wing, you will see it if you roll left and right.. you will notice that the wing pieces come apart slightly, you could stitch them together if you wanted to. *edit* Hahaha~ Wow.. I failed my first try at getting into orbit xD I didn't expect it to flame out before 30 thousand and ended up flat spinning then fumbled around trying to turn the jet engines off... key's 1,2,3... then burned everything it had.. and couldn't get to orbit xD I took some screenshots to show what I did. It has a very nice shape I think.
  13. I think of Air Intakes the same way I think of Fuel... want more fuel? Add more fuel... Want more Air the higher you go? add more air intakes. It's a pretty simple thing really.. It is not cheating, it is using parts in the game, if you can build it, then you can build it. But I must say I do not use part clipping.
  14. everything in this post is freaking clever because i say so.
  15. Interesting way of doing air intakes... x4 in 1.. very nice.
  16. Can you use Jet Engines on Tylo? Actually... what planets have Air? I've only been to Duna with an SSTO and the Mun with a Rocket/Buggy and that planet just past the Mun with an SSTO and crashed there.. I can't remember the name of that planet.
  17. It certainly saves a lot of fuel doesn't it.. When I'm going up I will pretty much burn full throttle on jet engines going vertical to 20 thousand.. then level out so by the time 30 thousand ticks over it's not going up too fast and isn't going down.. Then just keep it level while going for speed.. then punch yourself out of atmosphere using rocket engines then circularize. The higher you are, the faster you go on those jet engines, As long as you provide enough air to keep them running. When I made my first fast SSTO I was like holy cow I'm going fast... xD Since getting into SSTO's.. rockets aren't as interesting anymore.. lol..
  18. I so love how you did the rockets through the wing *_______*
  19. Feel free to share images of your creations~ If you mean my Type 24 Raven R2... that idea originated from Exothermos's AJAX SSTO.. found here >> http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/37352-Exo-s-Rubberband-and-Duct-Tape-Emporium-SSTOS-Weird-Space-Ships-and-more! Tips.. mmm.. Lets see.. Have the fuel as close to the center of mass as possible, so as it drains the weight doesn't shift backwards or forwards. If you have fuel tanks coming out sideways from the craft, make sure each side is draining evenly, you don't want it draining one side first, then the other last.. I've had this problem a few times until I started to understand how fuel lines worked xD Make sure all parts of the wing are connected with struts, it helps make a sturdy wing~ You can connect wing parts internally with struts, this way you don't see the struts.. If you look inside the wings of the Type 24 Raven.. You will see internal wing struts.. Very good for craft that have large wing surfaces.
  20. Can you circularize an orbit in atmosphere with those? As in over 2000m/s in atmosphere? If not.. that is the mission I give to you.. mwhahahaha~ I already have one that can xD
  21. I soooooooooooooooo wish there was a Stock Swivel/Rotating part.. so you can do what you just did with the engines but Stock... that would be so awesome.
