Hehe you actually used that one too xD I didn't realize I had forgotten the rear RCS thrusters *__* Actually.. I have since moved on to version R4 now, I wasn't going to post it for others to use, just keep it for myself.. but seeing as I screwed up with R3 I will stick R4 here for you. R4 uses a nose docking port, I was getting annoyed at having to move the top docking port all the time to match the center of weight, Maybe now it will line up xD Unlike R3, R4 uses two LT-V30's instead of the Aerospikes.. I didn't realize how heavy the Aerospikes were until I compared them *__* The reason it has so many air intakes is that I want it to get to 30,000 on just jet engines then get to around 1,800 m/s before switching to rocket engines, which this aircraft can do, The faster you can push it on jets, the less work the rockets have to do of pushing you out of the atmosphere, My previous SSTO can actually go 2,200m/s on Jet Engines, but is unstable on re-entry due to fuel shift causing it to tumble uncontrollably xD Also, Toggle 1 closes all intakes along with shutting off the jets : I Because I wasn't planing on posting the R4 I don't have any flying shots, but here is what it looks like in the space plane hanger. SSTO Type 23 Diamond R3 This is a rebuild of the previous Type 23 Diamond R2 SSTO, The R3 is much easier to land, Unlike the R2 where the rear 4 engines would hit the ground xD One thing to note is that when it is low on fuel it will want to pull up when controlling it manually, while I was landing and taking screenshots at the same time I was fighting with it to stay level, but it is controllable :x Craft File >> http://www./?86076ta86698mkv -

Yeah, Landing is a bit tricky.. I've knocked off those 4 engines too xD I found coming in with a bit of speed instead of gliding to land works a bit better, Still not perfect though, I sort of wish there were longer landing legs :/ I like the tip about the Docking port being center to mass, I didn't think of that, will have to do that when I tweak it some more. I will post it here when I get around to it : > -

OMG I LOVE YOU!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!! ♥(•̪ââ€Å’ââ€Â•̪) I so need to learn how to do this! xD I used the Small docking port because I didn't think I needed a large one xD The two antenna should be retracted while landing~ I have since replaced the 4 engines on the outer wings to have their own jet fuel and the two inner engines take fuel from the main tanks... I guess it's still a work in progress as I keep fiddling with it, It's not as fast on Jets as my previous SSTO, but as you said, it's balanced, my previous one could get to orbit, but on re-entry it would tumble uncontrollable. Thanks for doing this, It made my day : > -
Mad Scientists shouldn't say things like.. And I quote "Intake-spam much?" Mad Scientists should say things like, I see you have taken advantage of the air intakes, I think perhaps you need more. You should be ashamed of yourself.

R2 Version Update >> http://www./?nwcvp3hfym600g2 Just a quick fix version, added some more structural integrity and fuel. If any of you are able to test this craft with docking to something in orbit and screenshotting it and posting it here, I would love you long time!!!! Pretty much I don't know how to randevu in space and would love to see this SSTO docked to something xD *edit* Just showing the updated version works with some more image spam xD -

I found a floor in my design (╯°v°)╯︵ ââ€Â»Ã¢â€Âââ€Â» The Type 23 Diamond handles re-entry Perfectly~ no tumbling or any abnormalities, flaps don't go crazy flapping up and down like a lot of the aircraft I have seen.. But..... Once I got down to about 5000 feet after re-entry I put time acceleration on and both wings ripped off!!! xD The funniest part is that it can still fly like this.. haha!! Here is two screenshots showing it. -

In keeping with my obsession with Airplanes that can fly to space, I present to you the Type 23 Diamond. It isn’t perfect, but it works : > I've just built this so I'm not sure how it handles re-entry. My previous SSTO tumbles on re-entry :< If you would like to try this Type 23 Diamond yourself, Download Link » http://www./?9yk23c5qg8xamuk Action Groups. 1.Toggles Air Intakes + TurboJets. 2.AeroSpikes. 3.Nuclear Engine. Or.. was it 2 Nuclear.. 3 AeroSpkies.. mmmmmmm I can't remember (゜x ゜) -

Here is my new Test SSTO that turned out to be so fast It can circularize orbit using only jet engines, Then using 2 Aerospikes to punch it out of atmosphere *___* I was experimenting with parts inside parts.. But I am not using the clipping thing, I am using default everything. The first image shows the engine layout and all the Air Intakes. So far the maximum speed I have recorded using only the jet engines is 2202m/s before needing to switch to the Aerospikes which makes this my fastest jet powered aircraft. Keep the SSTO's coming guys!!! If you have an SSTO post it in this thread!!!! -

That little small one looks heaps cool.. I wish there were more stock parts that sort of looked that those B9 parts. I only have 2 working SSTO's.. but I already posted them in this thread xD -

This is my Large Shuttle SSTO, it can get 3 Kerbals into low orbit around Kerbin and land back at the runway... It is quite fast at altitude and can get over 2000m/s on air. It's not perfect, a little laggy.. needs some tweaking, but other than that I'm pretty happy with it. I'm especially happy with it's blended body wing, it took quite a while to make. -

Space Plane runs out of Fuel before Orbit.
KissSh0t replied to Barujin's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The trick to getting higher on air is more air intakes.. also as you get higher, and faster, throttling down will mean you are using less of your air intake, so you will have more air for the engines. this coupled with less air resistance, means you will still be going faster.. -
