  1. The fun bit is now im wondering if this thing will survive reentry in the current configuration. Usually with planes im pitching up anywhere from 10 to 45 degrees depending on how badly im going to miss KSC so at some point I have to pitch back down to prograde before the air gets too thick and breaks off the wings.
  2. Nothing too special but im pretty happy with how I saved the crew capsule. I was testing my new enormous SSTO and tried to turn around while at mach 1.5 to make a landing on the runway.... but then a wing broke off and took out one of the rocket motors and sent the thing out of control. I managed to save it by turning on SAS to radial out so the nose is pointing straight up and shut down a rocket motor on the other side so the thrust isnt asymmetrical. Everything is going good till I realized that while hovering over the ground its going backwards so that it would land on the top side if it were to tip over. I tried to roll it so that it would land on the gear but it already hit the ground and blew up half the plane. This made quite a bit of wreckage
  3. How are the RAPIER engines attached to the fuselage and wings like on the Orca?
  4. Yeah this update made me switch over to the steam version for the ease of updating. I was fortunate to have bought the game back at the end of 2012 so I had to option to transfer my purchase. I haven't tried a landing yet but wheels seem to work on the runway at least when I tested a stock rover.
  5. Yeah this is what happened to me as well. I tried running the patcher multiple times, even on its own and with admin but it would only patch to version 1.1.1.1250 in 64 bit. Literally any wheel I use explodes anything no matter how simple the design but that's for another thread and I can live without them for a while anyway. Mostly I'm just wondering what to do with the KSP version and if I need to go download the whole game again or something for 1.1.2 edit: I hope I didn't miss anything in the stickys but the thread about the launcher not updating doesn't exactly seem relevant to this issue, and my game is a new install on a new computer and I started with version 1.1 here. edit 2: I also doubt OP is on version 1.1.2 because when updating from the launcher mine stopped at exactly the same percentage but still said update successful... yeah right its the wrong version!
  6. My wheels just cause instantaneous detonation of anything I ever do as soon as it spawns. I started using I-beams to sled around.
  7. I'm using 1.1.2 and I guess this has persisted long enough to drag my station down 5 kilometers. I do not have the orbital decay mod or any physics changing mod for that matter, and this affects anything I put in orbit, big or small.
  8. I have a station that I launched into a 100x100 orbit. Its currently at 96x97 and I can see the heights are decreasing about 1 meter every 8 seconds or so. Interesting though Looks like I might need to send something up and boost it eventually. Edit: Also this only happens to the active vessel, not for things "on rails"
  9. I have a $400 laptop and it can run ksp just fine, at least try something to post for the op but to be honest that ship capacity will be very hard to play with even on the most powerful computers we have here.
  10. Yeah the universe expanded from a singularity, but because that was the entire universe, you could say that the big bang was everywhere and everywhen, as it is still going
  11. Okay guys thanks for the replies, I haven't had a chance to try it myself but I was just thinking "what if I just fly down?" The thin air makes sense, no matter how fast you're going you can't get enough lift to get into more normal flight instead of orbital type trajectories. Also it would be hard to shield from heating on only the nose and leading edges of the wings too
  12. Hello all! I'm wondering if it is possible for a spaceplane to do a different type of reentry and just "fly down" instead of violently burning through the atmosphere. Flying down meaning you slowly reduce your speed, possibly over several orbits, and eventually glide down to a landing. I am asking this if its possible in a real life (or just KSP/orbiter/other simulators) and I am wondering if it would be possible to do this with the goal avoiding the usual heating (and thus less heatshielding needed if at all) during a standard ballistic or space shuttle type reentry profile.
  13. This is an interesting challenge but i'm not sure ranking based on the mass of each entry would be a valid method. I'm also not sure exactly what you mean by some of those photo requirements (which seems like quite a lot of requirements imo) and what if someone's plane/rocket uses less than half it's fuel to reach the other side of kerbal?
  14. Back. Entire account gone but whatever, its just some data on the internet
