  1. I did something yesterday that made me feel like a pro. I landed a base on Ike. Then the Kerbal EVA'd and went back into orbit with the jetpack, rendezvoused with the ship left in orbit and get into the pod there.
  2. Not particularly evil, but I launched a single ship that met the station contract for Kerbin and the Sun, plus a satelite contract for Kerbin, plus the base on wheels contract for Ike. I just imagine all those different companies popping the champagne corks on the successful mission, then when they go to use the facilities finding it is gone. Also 1 more thing, Jeb is in Duna orbit, waiting for a return window, but his parachutes need repacking, and he can't do it.
  3. Had the same experience yesterday also. While not game breaking it could be. Imagine doing an EVA while on EVE in the ascent vehicle, and the kerbal lets go of the ladder. He'll fall to his death. That's more than just annoying. There is also another annoying bug which needs to be fixed - the one where you can't create maneuver nodes after a while. To fix it, you need to go back to the space center, then back to the ship. You then lose your revert flight options, which will break the game for some people who use that. Get enough annoying bugs, and the game is broken. - - - Updated - - - Not sure where you are getting the information from, but I doubt unity 5 will break saves. Saves simply contain information about where ships are - that shouldn't change, and if it does, should be easy to migrate.
  4. Each new update, I start a new save. Most of the new content is wasted otherwise.
  5. When I say end game goal, I don't mean the game ends, it's just something to drive you to do things. What you are describing could well be that. At the moment, I can fly to Eeloo, but why bother? I need a reason to. The contracts help a little, but they just feel random (because they are). I want to feel like going somewhere will advance my space program.
  6. I saw that too. Honestly, it makes me wonder why they even asked for feedback, as Harvester himself has said the only option is to focus on quality. I'm glad this is their focus, and I don't know what else to say.
  7. If the answer you have is mods, then wouldn't you at least want a 64bit version, so you can install a decent amount of mods? Also, can you point me in the direction of the procedurally generated universe mod?
  8. An actual end game goal. And a universe beyond the current solar system, procedurally generated, where we could go to.
  9. Well said. One thing that I think Squad is missing here is that there are a number of people in the software industry, who know how things like this work; ie you and also myself, who are making comments here. The fact that we are worried should be worrying Squad. Now I know we don't know everything about the current development, but what possible harm could there be if the game had one more beta release with all features that are going into 1.0, then 1.0 being just bug fixes from 0.91? I'm not worried about the professional reviewers out there. They don't carry so much weight these days, but I do worry about peer reviews. Currently on Steam, KSP gets good reviews, but it's only because it is early access at the moment. There are a lot of people who avoid early access, and they wont forgive bugs when they buy and review it. I'm a fan of KSP. Love the game. But if there are game breaking bugs in 1.0, I'll give it a bad review.
  10. I completely agree. It kind of reminds me of the old days in WoW, were you had to travel through the world to get to a dungeon. Once you got there, and realized you would fail (for whatever reason), and someone would say, "well we are already here, might as well try". Of course, it just ended badly, and you lost money on repairs in the end.
  11. I can, but they don't really fly well, and end up crashing very fast, so I voted no. I have tried very often, and have got one into space, but not into orbit. The biggest problem is getting the thrust vector right with respect to center of mass, and then accounting for the changing mass as you stage.
  12. I would prefer you get more features into the game before 1.0, for a few reasons. 1. I'm personally tired of restarting saves, to experience the new features. 2. This is the version that will be judged/reviewed. If the game is released without all your planned features, or you introduce new features later that break a save game, it wont be nice for players (who are not into early access). When I say "break save", I mean new features that would require you to start a new career mode to experience them. If for example re-entry heat comes in in 1.1, this would break saves, because people planning a re-entry without the appropriate heat shielding would not be able to continue. Even adding new parts, to some extent breaks things, because you don't get get to structure your career to take this node in the tree into account. Having said all that, if you are going to persist with the idea of adding features later, then definitely do optimizations and bug fixes for 1.0. My son was not able to play KSP .90 simply because his computer didn't have enough RAM (4GB) on 32 bit architecture. I've since got him a new computer, but that was a good computer (with an old OS), and should have run the game.
  13. My flags tend to have nothing in the plaques these days. I use them as biome markers. Typically the first flag on the body will note who landed with some unremarkable line of text.
  14. All the people working at KSC are just doing it as a hobby. Once they send an interplanetary mission off, they go on holiday, until they are needed again. And they run the place with those really efficient solar panels, and cheap lights.
  15. If the next update was 0.91, I would say no, not a good use of resources. But this should definitely be done in version 1.0
  16. SSTO jets. I can build them, and get them to orbit, but every one I ever make only ever just gets to orbit, with practically no more fuel for anything else. Every now and then, I decide to build an SSTO to go to Laythe, and fail miserably. I've even watched tutorials on it, and still suck. But give me a rocket, and I can go anywhere!
  17. The only thing I haven't really done is gravity assists, simply because I've never needed to. I've never used an autopilot for any of those things.
  18. I scored 8.25 I've done everything except a Tylo return, and I use reverts a lot (playing stock), specifically because I often mess up staging while doing launches. It's not that I couldn't do a Tylo return, just that I am lazy. I have done an Eve return, but it took me a long time to get around to it.
  19. When my son was in grade 6, they were playing KSP as a learning experience. I talked to his teacher, and she was also playing it, though we didn't really talk about KSP. I've not met a serious player. I even introduced a colleague to the game, because he couldn't get into orbit, and I am sure he no longer plays. - - - Updated - - - I'd love to be able to do that too. Talk rocket science, and enjoy a pint or 3. I used to have a friend who I went to the pub with almost every friday for a few pints, and we talked about a lot of intellectual topics. I'm certain he would have been into KSP. Unfortunately, we both moved to different countries over 10 years ago and we lost contact.
  20. It means as your altitude increases, your thrust will increase. Currently, the fuel consumption drops. The only reason the TWR increases as you go up at the moment is because fuel is being used. If you use the cheat menu and activate unlimited fuel, the TWR remains constant currently. With this change, the TWR will increase as you get higher.
  21. KSP is fun, but it's hardly ready for full release... A major platform for KSP is Windows, and most Windows machines these days are 64 bit, yet the 64 bit support is still not really there. This in my opinion needs to be addressed before the game is considered ready. As well as that, some sort of overarching objective would be good - like an end game win condition. Even Minecraft had that (admittedly it was fairly lame), so surely there could be something in KSP.
  22. You probably should be checking for viruses/malware. It sounds like some kind of URL redirector.
  23. The biggest problem with the gizmo is it only works for attached parts. Because of that I'll be trying to get the part right before attaching it, and that means rotating first. I do however find myself using the gizmo for fine rotations a lot.
  24. I landed on Tylo way back (I think 0.18), but never did a return mission. Landing is not that hard, just uses a lot of fuel. My first attempt used nukes, which was a bad idea. I think my second (successful) attempt used aerospikes. I haven't been back there since. To be honest, every time a new version comes out I restart, and I have not been able to progress fast enough to get there before the next update!
