  1. Quick question

what's the code to have a .cmd file make command prompt run tree?

    tree

    TREE [Drive:[[Path] [/F] [/A]

Drive:\Path Drive and directory containing disk for display of directory structure.

/F Displays file names in each directory.

/A ext characters used for linking lines, instead of graphic characters. /a is used with code pages that do not support graphic characters and to send output to printers that do not properly interpret graphic characters.

    Something like:

    @echo off
    tree C:\Users

  2. The worst game I've recently played is Pizza Dude.

    Pizza Dude.

Here's the description from the website:

The "Pizzadude" family is in panic! Uncle Francesco left Kevin and Kimberly because he

cannot pay his bills anymore. Their poor uncle is ashamed of himself! There is only one

chance to get their fat Uncle Francesco back - earn loads of money, within 24 hours, with the

pizza restaurant! Earning money requires a lot of work. After taking an order by phone, they

have to prepare the order in the kitchen, by preparing all the pizza-ingredients (cheese,

pepperoni, tomato, ananas, onions, etc, etc) as well as some extra orders (fries, soda, salad).

After finishing the pizza one of them has to drive in Kevin's supercharged quad to the

customer: and here the difficult part starts! If a pizza is delivered too late, a customer will not

pay for his pizza. Because of this "golden rule", all pizza customers will try to make your

delivery as hard as possible. Their loose (wild) dogs and many other obstacles will make you

use your jump and run action to the max. Can you make a pizza and deliver it within time?

    Prove it!

Seems weird. But let's run it. It can't be that bad, right?

You get a screen with two people who don't really look like people.

You click "new game", you get a blackscreen. Apparently, it's the character selection. Select a character by just clicking randomly.

You get to see the game. Or at least, the intro. It's very long and very boring and you can't skip it, but that's not really a problem, because then you look at the textures that are made out of cardboard.

    It's a city with a pizza restaurant.

The game starts. The phone rings. You pick up the phone, the phone hangs itself up, you then make a pizza, which you have infinite time for.

How do you do that? Well, just pressing space at the ingredients you need. The chicken is cut with a chainsaw, oddly.

Then you made the pizza, and then suddenly an timer appears, and you need to get to the client within the time. You do that by food and by quad.

Oh, and did I mention if you accidentally bump a little you immediately crash and that the timer is always at a super low time which is almost impossible to beat? Well no money for me today.

Well guess what, the game is over! You need to restart, go trough the whole intro again and then do it all over again but then with an different impossible mission! Every time, there are impossible goals. 20 seconds for a house a few blocks away, 2 minutes to get to somewhere in the air.

So what I did, is I never picked up the phone. It keeps ringing, but I don't care. I just drive around and study the whole environment. Oh, and you can get money instead by just picking them up while you're riding. On the money, you see some guys face with the text "tyrannosaurus rex".

That's how bad it is. It's so bad, it's funny.

  3. The only thing you can do is to do thing as efficient as possible.

I mean, changing your habits changes a lot.

If you don't use electronics, turn them off.

If you like to shower a long time, learn yourself doing shorter.

Buy double-glass windows, buy solar panels, buy electric-generating water warmers or sun collectors... There are a lot of innovative ideas. Like, instead of having water of the shower going to the sewers, have a heat exchanger(a spiral arround the waterworks) warm the water that goes to the boiler, that way you can shower a lot longer.

You can invest in those things if you buy for example a new house. It'll drain your fixed charges, too.

    Recycle plastics and metal.

And then you have the people "climate is always changing", "third world country won't implement stuff so we don't make a difference".

But if you make a difference, sooner or later a third world country will do the same, because third world country's practically live in the past.

It's litteraly a "every little helps" solution. If everyone who drops junk on the ground puts one piece of junk per day in the garbage bin instead of dropping on the ground, everything would be a lot cleaner.

I planted a few plants a time ago, and that helps, too.

NO, we don't need to stop climate change! The climate is changing all the time, regardless of what we are doing!

That's like saying "I have a disease I don't need medicine to make symptoms less cause they'll go away anyway."

  4. So I have this PC which was doing strange things

4 months ago, it wouldn't POST(no beep). It was just after my brother brought it downstairs. I removed the RAM to see if it beeped at all and it beeped. I ended up resetting the CMOS a few times, and it worked again.

Then he brought it back to the other place. Again, it wouldn't POST, I reset the CMOS and it ran again.

That went OK for a few weeks, sometimes it needed to reset the CMOS.

But now he moved it again and it wouldn't POST again and nothing worked. The PSU works(not tested on high loads thought), CPU works.

I removed everything and just tested it without case with just the CPU and RAM. It gave 5 short beeps(missing GPU).

Then I added a GPU and it booted. I tested it 5 times and everytime it booted.

Then I put it everything back into the case and it didn't (again). I put the GPU in another PCIe slot and that worked. The other slot didn't, no beeps thought.

So one of the two PCIe 2.0 slots was broken... I think. Then I booted it and the resolution was strange, Windows didn't recognize the GPU. I tried installing the drivers again, but that failed.

Is the GPU or MB broken?

I can test the GPU easially, I can plug it into another PC or I can put another GPU in it to see if it works. I think I'm going to do that, but not know.

    Here are the specs:

    FX 8350

    ASRock Extreme3 970 R2.0

    Asus GT 640

    Sharkoon WPM400 Bronze

    ADATA 8 GB DDR3-1600

  5. Today I broke a record, I started up my pc and started up RealTemp... And the 4th core of my i5 3570k was 11 degrees Celsius. That's how cold it was in my room.

Yes, I have an overkill heatsink and I don't overclock, but I'm wondering... is the temperature delta T or just T? And is this the same for AMD(I think AMD's delta T thought, because it's sometimes colder than the room itself, which is impossible)?

  6. Definitely not. It's only one generation old(if you consider the 760, not the 970 and 980), and it runs pretty neat. Not to mention that this is a "rank" lower, (50 vs 60), and looking at the benchmarks a 750 ti performs much worse than the 660.

Even if you had more money, it's not worth it unless you spend your money on a 970.

Your GPU is simply good at the moment. If you want another awesome GPU, I would save that money, and ask the same question next year. Then you have twice the money and the performance gap is bigger.

  7. I removed this text because I don't want to quote super large texts

    You have some good points.

I've never thought about that either.

    Nor do I know electronics.

They have a pretty neat amount of tutorials here: http://www.espruino.com/Tutorials

Not super many, but at least they're good.

I like for the fact that you can start very quickly with an espruino, and you don't have to compile anything.

That said, if you have some network stuff, you can just give it commands very quickly.

I know, this is nothing new, you can program this yourself... But javascript makes it easier.

It's not very fast, but it doesn't need to be fast. What's fast is how quick you can program things.

I think what's really new is that it's easy. And I like easy. That's why I backed it(and of course, I want to meet microcontrollers 'n stuff).

  8. Hi Ho

Could someone please tell me how important it is to upgrade motherboards? I have one that's several years old. It's an Asus R.O.G. Maximus Formula. This one I think.

I'm thinking of rebuilding my old tower and I will for sure need a new GPU, CPU, PSU and RAM. Can I keep this mobo?

    Advantages? Disadvantages?

Well if you buy a new CPU, it probably won't fit into your motherboard anyways, so you have to buy a new one.

Well now I see how old it is... it's still DDR2. That's *very* old. New CPUs won't get into it and DDR3/4 won't get into it either. So it's outdated, there's no way to keep it if you want to go with new parts.

  9. Dear All,

Could you please help me to select either one of these builds indicated below?

    Notes:

1-I am not interested in O.C.

2-I will use this PC mostly for gaming which are flight sims (PMDG, DCS Products...etc), RTS and some FPS. But mainly for KSP.

    3-I have Win 7 x64

4-I already have a case and 500W PSU.

    Build 1:

    Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

    G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

PowerColor Radeon R7 260X 2GB TurboDuo Video Card

    Build 2:

    Z97 PC Mate Intel Z97 Soket 1150 DDR3 3000MHz(O.C.) HDMI&DVI

    i5 4670K

    Sapphire HD6870 GDDR5 1GB 256Bit AMD Radeon DX11

    Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB RAM

    sandisk xtreme 2 SSD

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Build 1? Nah. I don't like the combinations, even though some of them are excelent parts.

I would go for the second build, with some modifications.

CPU? Great CPU! You could go for some AMD but this one is already awesome for your requirements.

Motherboard is also awesome. Maybe a little overkill, but it's designed for gaming, which is your requirement. so it's ok.

    RAM? Awesome.

SSD? I would go for the Samsung 840 instead. It's a little cheaper(in my country) and I prefer samsung.

HDD? OK. This one is good. It doesn't really matter, it's your choice.

GPU? I'd go for a GTX 750 (Ti). It fits more with everything else.

Check if the MB fits in your case too.

  10. I once had a game of this when I was younger.

It was awesome. But they used to scare me.

Also: The father irons clothes every time thought they are not wearing any clothes... :o

  11. Well, this is hard. I haven't played many games in a long time.

    If I remember it correctly:

1: Minecraft(Come on, you can build whatever you want!)

    2: Roller Coaster Tycoon

    3: Age of Empires II

    4: KSP

    5: Need for Speed Underground

Nikola7007: Remember: This is on the KSP forums! :P
