  1. Maybe paraedolia in this case, if it has 4 or 5 toes is not really clear and the feet profile seems not correct. I would say this is just a joke the light is doing to you!
  2. Achieved my first Spaceplane orbit insertion, yeah!!!! (but I had to rely on a Scott Manley design imitation). I'll keep working with an own made design, let's see if I can do that!!!
  3. I wasn't telling this for first, but I watched it recently and it kinda fascinated me: Sunshine is such a film that can inspire you. Even Europa report is valid, both ends up in a horror creepy manner but that's acceptable (spoilering? ooopsss) 2001 and 2010 are both good, even mission to mars is absolutely inspiring.
  4. Good luck to all you guys, since this a sandbox game I'm not going to criticize the way you entertain yourselves. Just keep in mind that Maths is not abstruse numbers that requires time and attention, but is an interpretation of reality that permits us to predict real behaviours. Mathematics for a space engineer is like imagination for a kid. But sometimes I find myself happy at the idea to simply burn something until it gets somewhere, it reminds me the north korean space exploration approach.
  5. Rocketry for idiots, yeah! (no offence intended)
  6. Finally going to Duna...I started to play like 3 months ago, I made all the Mun-Minmus landings, I had a satisfing space station in orbit, had some planetary probes on the way but I was waiting cause I was constructing a scientific base on Minmus. All of this meant that I was just going to depart for the duna manned mission but the 0.20 kicked in, all mods I had went lost and all preparation was trashed. So now I'm only waiting for a Mod-stable patch and burn straight to Duna.
  7. Scott Manley surely helped me to refine some parts that I used to fly in a crude way, like orbital insertions or gravity turn. Most frustrating was to actually watch his video, rolling-on-the-floor for his intro and outro slogans, talking about how funny he is with my friends and being laughed at like a Nerdy-lame videogamer. (I think this is quite common here)
  8. Adding all kind of volcanisms would be great for me, but I'd LOVE to get some sort of geological prospection thingy. You know, all the kind of stuff like "go to the top of that hill and take a substrata sample" or even carring with yourself some real rocks on the back of the rover. Maybe that could become an issue for the scattering rocks, but hey, wondering is free!
  9. I'd like to hear wich are the Faster-than-Light sub-atomic particles that you are talking about...Are you referring to the neutrino italian experiment in Gran Sasso laboratories like one year ago? Well, since I'm Italian I don't like to make ourselves laughed at, but that experimental result has been a COMPLETE MISTAKE. The difference between the teoretical position of the neutrinos and the real one was a result of non considering the little(but yet decisive) fallacies of the GPS system. They tought that the neutrino had passed the detector a little early, but that was the result of the uncertainty of the detector's position. Surely you are right telling that science can discover FTL travels, but as far as we know it all experimental data tells us that speed of light is actually the "speed limit" of the universe. There's had been suggestion of possible alternative sub atomical particles that could actually break that barrier, but at this moment they are really far away from being detected and their existence is only SPECULATIVE. Einstein has been wrong in many things, but relativity is weel far from being discredited. It has been demostrated in such multiple ways, it's used in our everyday life (GPS couldn't work of we didn't knew the relativistic effects of orbital trajectories) and keeps on being confirmed everyday by thousands of scientist all over the world.
  10. ETHERNIA: Reaching Hoffman Transfer Point, Prepare for burning procedures. First time ever I hear of HOFFMAN Transfers... PS: I know it's a horrible pun and a comprensible mistake, but I could'n resist!
  11. I find myself often thinking in terms of m/s instead the normal Km/h (metric system here) and everytime while driving I need to go into reverse I think : "let's burn retrograde"
  12. Since weapons and rocket technology goes hand by hand, expecially in the firsts years of missile history, I personally find it difficult to not stick with weapons. Since the first ballistic missiles were engineered to deliver warheads on the other side of the globe, to actually "simulate" a real space program would come up soon or less with military hardwares, maybe in a camouflaged way, but still military derivative stuff. Space exploration has been born by military competition between two superpowers, I wonder what would have happened if one of them weren't around.
  13. Seriously no other pics, nor going neither coming back, so u have to stick with this one
  14. Chang Zheng rocket family, the chinese built rocket family used as workhorse for the chinese space program. CZ-3B is my favourite for different reasons, but if I had to choose one for aesthetics, I'd say CZ-2F, the man rated one.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_March_2F
  15. If I had KSP back in my 7-8 years old-times, I would have been completely fascinated by it. My parents didn't bother too much following my interest,it was difficult for them to even match my knowledge about kid-related science (you know for sure, Dinosaurs, air models, telescopes, all that kind off "kiddish" scientific stuff), so they didn't even tried to give me more imputs to stimulate my curiosity. I'm impressed by your parenting skillz and I'm looking forward to do the same when it will be the right time. Keep your son in touch with space related, since he could be going there sometime in the future!
  16. I wondered instead: why the hell a chimp should wear a GENERAL'S RANK!!! Did he attended Kest Point? Who the hell gave him that rank!!! I'm joking, maybe that's intended as a pun (military officers=laughing chimp), maybe not, maybe squad staff liked that IIWW style rank and included it for no reason.
  17. Where did you get that GERTY thingy mod(the part that looks like GERTY from the film MOON)? Checked by myself but found none.
  18. I usually deal with mithology themed names, as in RL, using names such Argo, Zephyr, Zeus, Seraph, Perseus. During engineer phase I come out with some of those names, but I always add a general description in brackets on the side. Something like (interplanetary Explorer) or (munar Lander) fit perfectly to me to catch the utility of some old and forgot design. Also my habit is to rename the vehicles on the pad, maybe giving a name like "Juno X-1" to the first test flight, and adding a mere numerical in progressive order, apart from flyby missions that are named like "argo Eve 1".
  19. Absolutely not missing it! The Space Shuttle was an Expensive, Maintenance-dependant, Underpowered, Overmuscled and extremely unsafe way to get things to orbit. It's been used at his maximum volume-mass payload capability only on the Hubble and few others DoD-classified missions, otherwise his giganteous payload bay was always half empty. And principally I don't miss his lack of Crew survivability sistem in case of catastrophic failure during launch, even if NASA used this sistem since the Mercury age.
  20. Reminds me my old Geology excursions time! But I bet I'm not the only one who would LOVE to see some sort of geology thingy in this game (like Sismometer packs, rock sample collectors, sample return missions, etc etc). Maybe there's out there a mod that satisfies my needs? PS: that's a very accurate version of what geologists call "close visual inspection"!
