  1. Except that its EVERY B9 part, not just the Mk. 2.
  2. So I stuck a wooden tail skid on my Mach 3+ jet to prevent tail strikes during takeoff and suddenly I'm spawning at 1km. Anyone else having this bug?
  3. I've got a bit of a weird problem with the Mk2 Cockpit: nothing attaches correctly to its attachment point. Regardless of what part I try to attach, stock, B9, ect., the part always clips into the cockpit and attaches ~500mm too high. (And for some reason, the forum won't let me upload the screen shot from imgur.) Okay, the mk2 CRG-04 cargobay fits, but not the standard mk2 cargo bay (nor anything else. And no other parts line up with the mk2 CRG-04.) Update: This seems to be the case with EVERY B9 part.
  4. I am building a comm network so I can send a rover to Duna. I have three comm sats in orbit, one about 45 degrees ahead of kerbin, the other two 45 and 90 degrees behind. The one 45 degrees behind Kerbin has a 78% signal strength and the 90 has a 30% signal strength direct to Kerbin. How do I force it to relay signals off the other satellite so as to get a better signal? I am using 2x RA-2s, 2x DTS-M1s, and 1x 16-S.
  5. So, I'm getting back into KSP after what seems like a five year hiatus. I started up a career mode game, and have almost maxed out the level 1 R&D (researched everything you can get at level 1.) The only problem is, I'm down to around 22k credits. Mission control, VAB, Launch pad, and runway are level 2. I have a +13 reputaion, yet there are only about five contracts still available for me to accept; none of them pay more than 20k. I need to upgrade the SPH (so I can fly a 9t craft with a whooping 32 parts for one of my active contracts.) Any suggestions?
  6. Its been awhile since I've been here. I've been planning to do an expirament to see if I could transfer small amounts of power via microwaves. I've just have a few questions: 1 How can I calculate the power, in watts, of an electromagnetic wave given frequency? 2. Does doubling the amplitude double the power? 3. Do I need shielding if I'm only using a 1w microwave source. If I do, what should I make it out of? I've been having some technical difficulties with my Physic Fourms account and thought I would drop this in the Science Lounge.
  7. I'm trying to get back into the game now that it has had a full release. I've just downloaded all of the required and recommended mods for Realism Overhaul as well as some parts packs (KW, NP, Ect.) I've got one problem though. The game will load up and let me into the space center, however, it will not allow me to enter the VAB or SPH. Is there a fix for this?
  8. For the FAA here in the U.S, class A airspace goes up to 60000ft. Beyond that, its class E. See: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Airspace_System Physically speaking, there is the Carman Line. That is the point above which a wing will need to be traveling at orbital velocity to produce enough lift to remain airborne.
  9. Didn't they think of doing this with the first stage of Saturn Vs?
  10. Stupid question: Does Canada have the same 20 hour max rule for pilot training. As in, you can fly as many hours as you want in it, but only 20 will count. (I think its 20 hours max.)
  11. Help me make this stable: Its good until I start burning my rockets, then it completely flips out.
  12. This is ticking me off. I'll have my landing gear be one degree off (according to B9's alignment tool) but be unable to adjust the one degree out. This inevitable leads to my aircraft and spaceplanes flipping over on the runway. I would like to see landing gear that auto-align themselves with the longitudinal axis (i.e. nose to tale axis) when I place them. I've spent over five hours trying to get my landing gear aligned for an otherwise exceptional SSTO. I shouldn't have to launch it on top of a rocket to test fly it.
  13. Looks great, but... A few minor explanation details: APUs are mini jet engines that are used to provide bleed air to the main engines. APUs are electrically started and blow air through the main engine's turbine, causing it to spool up before fuel is injected into it. Although most APUs have a seperate generator attached, most aircraft generate their electricity from generators attached directly to the engines. The APUs, after starting the main engines, are usually turned off to save fuel. Usually, they are only turned on in flight in the event of an emergency. RATs are a plane's last ditch attempt to generate electricity. If the APU is inop for whatever reason, a small RAT will drop out into the airflow. Like I said, this post was just to explain what they are. It would be interesting though to see the need for an APU in order to start a jet engine on the runway, though.
  14. Thoroughly enjoyed my first flight in 2006. Flew from BWI outside Baltimore to Tampa, FL in a Southwest 737. If you can afford it, try getting your pilot's liscense. As much as I enjoyed my first flight, it paled in comparison to actually be able to control the aircraft and the view.
  15. Unless you exceed its limits. There is a point (usually when a plane exceeds its critical AOA and stalls) that the autopilot shuts off. This is done as a safety feature to prevent the autopilot from flying the plane into a deep stall. The AP would try to maintain altitude by pitching up (or rather trying to) instead of recovering from the stall by decreasing AOA. That being said, good luck getting there using only COG changes.
  16. Can I say its a confusing PITA to learn?
  17. Well, sub-freezing temperature are what broke the O-ring that lead to the Challenger mishap.
  18. If it did, there is going to be a bit of a problem. Assateague National Seashore is less than five miles north of Wallops. I don't think the local wildlife, horses in particular, are going to like hydrazine. Edit: and it didn't quote Jeff Bird for some reason.
  19. And it just blew up on the pad. Ninja'ed: At least no one was on it.
  20. Can someone help me out here? I was trying to watch a video on Youtube on 1080p. I was suffering extreme buffering even on 480p. Here are the Ping and tracert results: My questions: 1. I am using broadband internet from Comcast. Why is my tracert saying it is taking almost five seconds to receive a SINGLE packet? 2. Why are my tracert and ping different? 3. What the f--- is whitemarsh.md.bad.comcast.net?
  21. If you would like, I may be able to help. I'm currently taking a meteorology class as part of my major. Since they say the best way to study is to teach, I can help explain (not program, though) some weather phenomenon such as cloud formation, dry and moist adiabatic lapse rates, Corriolis Effect, ect.
  22. Makes me wonder if long term cyrosleep (1000+ years) was used, what would happen to the emotional state of the crew? I mean, everyone they ever knew would be dead by the time they woke up.
  23. Go to these coordinates in Google Earth: N39 16' 00.03" W076 45' 00.02 I've lived in Catonsville my entire life. I've always been wondering why an "airport" is there when its in the middle of someone's back yard. It is not on any WAC, sectional, or TAC. Any ideas?
