  1. go with this ranking http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Starfleet_ranks
  2. How to do u prefer your launches to start out? do you prefer a bat out of heck (not sure about the forums policy on the other word) or a slow lumbering launch that barely clears the clams and slowly gains speed?
  3. With all the talks on the boards about ways to exploit the kraken bugs im sure the devs are getting more and more data on how it happens and probably have a few ideas on how to fix it easier. MY question to you is should they?
  4. Just out of curiosity... how many out there will build something like a rover or lander then realize after you have gotten all the way to duna or Eve only to realize that whoops you forgot an important piece of the rover or the decouplers were working wrong and your craft wouldn't detach. I do this all the time. So ill write don my altitude or a close approximation of it, revert to VAB fix the design flaw then hyperedit back to where i was. rather than spending the next 10 minutes waiting for the window to come up and make the long trip to do it all over again. Anyone else "cheat" with it like this?
  5. Is it possible in KSP to get a plane going fast enough that you can get a circular AP and PE within say the middle or upper atmosphere? I know you would have to be going wicked fast and you would have the keep the engines plowing in order to maintain it but is it possible? has anyone tried?
  6. if there isnt because of how debris despawns... im adding probe cores to all my boosters
  7. only to realize you are very low on fuel and you forgot to repack the parachutes after lifting off from duna and you are already beginning to get the flame effects from re-entry
  8. Why is it that i can make a rocket and have it launch successfully a dozen times.... then i have 2 or 3 launches where it essentially explodes on liftoff. Then it launches flawlessly again for another dozen launches.
  9. mostly just firespitter.... i have a couple kethane tanks on there too... but they are nothing but decoration.... not ENTIRELY sure why i put them on there. They do look cool.
  10. Whats the most impractical, useless, mopst hilarious thing you have built in KSP. Today i built a bi plane with SRBs and my GF looked at me like I was psychotic because i was giggling like a school girl launching it.
  11. Just wondering which is better to do launch, circularize at 100 km then do an apoapsis changed to say 600km and circularize again, or is it better to launch straight to 600 km then circularize?
  12. right after .22 dropped i didnt have any mods and no mechjeb. I was a lil paniky at first, then i launched, did my gravity turn and set a circular orbit like it was just another launch. Then i went to the mun and back without any issue. I did eventually get mechjeb going for interplanetary trips.. because i HATE figuring out IP trips..... I figured out i wasnt using mechjeb as much as a crutch as i thought i was.
  13. the goo must somehow take on the properties of its local environment..... we must investigate further...
  14. So far my favorite is if you do an EVA from the middle atmosphere in kerbin at about 20,000 meters or so. "You feel as if you should really get back in the ship" P.S. Jeb really is one crazy SOB!
  15. I just threw a ship together in a few hours .... added some kethane tanks and a refiner.... launched it to the mun with almost no testing..... It landed, gathered its samples, and returned to kerbin without any explosions, no unforeseen spin outs, forgetting of solar panels, etc..... It went smoothly... too smoothly..... Ive never had a mission go that nicely.... i was almost.... disappointed.......
  16. What if for the campaign there was a large asteroid orbiting in a highly eccentric orbit around the system, passing far beyond any of the Kerbol system planets at its furthest, and close to Kerbin orbit whenever it loops around. It passes very close to Kerbin every few orbits. It is scheduled to crash into kerbin in say 100 years or so. It has the same physics as say a player made object. It is your job to land on the asteroid and divert it from Kerbin.
  17. your new to KSP aren't you? WELCOME TO THE RANDOM ADVENTURE!! In KSP failure is always an option!
  18. solar panels..... RTGs are not meant for ion engines. They are mostly used for rovers.
  19. I originally designed this plane with the intent of being able to take off from the ground with a rover or satellite drop it off and return without the need for staging or complex launch vehicles. In addition it is practice for future campaign mode. This is the reason for the excess thrust. The ability to take off and deliver small payloads without sacrificing a number of boosters and fuel tanks for every launch would be invaluable.
  20. it flies perfectly now that i was able to get more height from the wheels as opposed to the stock small gear bays i was using. I can risk pullin gup sooner now. Before i had to wait until the very end of the runway. If i was going too slow i wouldnt be able to pull up in time. Thats why i needed the SRBs. now with the taller wheels i can afford to pull up earlier and it looks like a much more professional launch as opposed to the 25% success rating cross your fingers launch i was doing. and yes they are the B9 hybrids
  21. thanks for the advice about the wheel mod pack... it actually solved a couple of problems i was having with my launch. Getting higher off the ground gave me a lot more flexibility in how i launch and i was able to ditch the SRBs!
  22. I built a space plane capable of getting to 80 km and circularized however in order for it to get off of the runway it requires a couple of SRBs. If the runway was about 50 ft longer or had a little ramp at the end i could get off no problem.... However because i run our of runway i need a little more oomph to get off the ground.
