  1. That would make sense... except as has been mentioned, you need two keys for each axis (e.g. left/right). Again, no idea what the defaults would be (if any), but I'm assuming they're rebindable. (on that note, it'd be nice to be able to rebind the custom action groups, although I suppose that's an entirely different feature!)
  2. Just ran into this issue, incredibly frustrating and makes the structural parts mostly useless for what I want to do with them. I would really like to see this fixed, especially considering they would be pretty handy for the upcoming robotics stuff.
  3. It appears you can set the axis groups to the standard movement controls (as in this video, where the arm is mapped specifically to IJKL), but it looks you can just as easily map them to un-used keys through custom axis (as seen in the action menu in this video). Like I'm pretty sure I'd set those to be on the keypad or something, which naturally wouldn't interfere with anything else. Whether or not any of the robotics have default mapping... we have no idea yet. I'm glad to see the system looks nice and complex - it looks like it's one of those things that's easier to understand through experimentation than watching a video, which I'm looking forward to doing
  4. Back in the day, it was pretty much a given that this would happen whenever an update dropped - even the 1.0 release swamped down the KSP site to usability for the better part of a day. Good times... Since then though, it tends not to happen anymore, or at least it lasts a short enough time that it hasn't affected me for a while.
  5. My first rendezvous and docking was possibly the hardest thing I've done in KSP. A combination of terrible ship design (why did I put the ports on the sides of the ships?) and having no idea what I was doing made it a painful experience, to say the least. I'm pretty sure I used up two of the 2.5m RCS tanks in the procrss, but I got there in the end (after a few breathing breaks and tutorials). It's one of those things, once you get the hang of it you'll wonder why you ever struggled with it at all, and nowadays I actually quite enjoy doing it. If it's any consolation, NASA both struggled with and failed their first attempt at rendezvous (see Gemini 4).
  6. IIRC, 'biomes' were added across all bodies at the same time. I believe that the developers were aware it was inaccurate, either before or shortly after it was implemented, but it was kept that way as there wasn't really a better term that could be used that people would immediately understand.
  7. Not necessarily - although Sag A is way closer, it's also way smaller. M87's black hole is freakishly huge, like 1000 times bigger. Also Sag A lies in our galactic plane, which means you have to look through all the gas and dust in our galaxy to see it, while you have a much clearer shot for M87.
  8. I believe the point is that you sometimes want to insert an action group between '5' and '6', such that '6' becomes '7', and the new action group becomes '6'. This is currently a bit of a pain if you've already got a '7' and an '8' set up too.
  9. Sharing this because I think it's neat, even if not super relevant to this thread, but those buses are a heck of a lot more stable than people think they are: Quotes are being funky atm, but I would like something like @KSK's suggestion to be implemented - the weight shift equivalent of putting all the snacks in the lower cabinets of the Hitchhiker. Enough to useful for making rovers a bit more stable and tiny last-minute adjustments, not so much an EZ-fix solution for all COM problems. Additional thoughts: maybe small COM changes could be done on capsules even during flight - I seem to recall something about Apollo astronauts packing their cargo before re-entry in a certain way to affect COM? I was about to suggest being able to change the COM of fuel tanks at the cost of reducing fuel capicity - idea being that you take up some of the space with ballast. But then I realized that dedicated ballast parts would be more useful.
  10. I hate to be cynical, but I suspect the reason isn't as moral as that. Motorbike insurance is much cheaper, at least in the UK (I was paying £500 a year when I was 17, even without a full license), and statistically bikes are tens of times more likely to be in an accident. Back to the question, I don't think speed is the only problem with driving. Lack of awareness and experience is a problem that is equally dangerous - being able to understand what's going on on the road is pretty important. I would argue full self-driving capability would reduce accident chance significantly, but even then at least knowing how to drive feels necessary as a safeguard if the technology fails.
  11. Still updating everything, so haven't had a chance to go over everything yet, but the two most interesting changes for me are the Kodiak and the Skiff. Skiff appears to have had a weight increase (I think you may have made a slight mistake there), which fixes the issue where it outclassed the LV-T engines in literally every department, and makes it an inferior 1.25m launch engine, which is neat. But unfortunately the buff on the Kodiak kinda negates this - it has a slightly lower vacuum ISP, but otherwise it's basically just a Reliant but better. As you've mentioned, the Mastadon change is a little odd. It's now got slightly higher ASL ISP, but it's thrust is now even lower than the Mainsail. Cost is actually significantly lower than the Mainsail, though, so that might've been what they were going for - a cheaper, less thrust-y version, that most people will replace with the Mainsail once they unlock it. Cheetah engine is more or less the same (not sure why they chose 355 vacuum ISP, though. Terrier and Poodle are both 350), as is the Bobcat, which makes sense considering those were totally fine before. Wolfhound has been nerfed as expected, so I'm guessing it'll play like a 'heavy' Poodle now, for really big crafts. It'll be interesting to see how that works.
  12. This video comes to mind. Geniunely made me jump the first time I watched it on a big monitor
  13. Can confirm that in the UK, 'mills' is pretty widely used to mean millimeters, just to make things more confusing
  14. Me and a couple of flatmates actually gave it go a while back with acrylics. Results were... varied, and we had to pause it every couple of minutes. although that may be more to be with the state we were in, which is best not discussed on this website. Did actually help me a little, though, seeing as I'd never painted before then.
  15. Thanks I saw the big, flat panels and thought "Yup... some houses be getting built."
  16. Doesn't seem to work, but whatever it is, it seems localised to this computer anyway. Thanks guys!
  17. I actually am vegan, but I happen to be trying to put on weight now, so... Oof... made me hungry all over again. Shame I'm not in the US.
  18. Yeah, I'm just just trying new things, maybe I'll even use colour one day Speaking of which, few sketches I did while 'revising', seeing as my phone was dead:
  19. Umm... did the forum font change or something? Other than stuff in bold, I'm kinda finding it hard to read stuff now, even with glasses on
  20. Reeally want some falafel and hoummus right now, And pizza, of course, but that's more of a way of life than a craving.
  21. Not quite Haven't played KSP in a while, but had fun with these parts when MH was first released: Cute little rover. Slightly larger rover. Never-finished homemade VAB. And my personal favourite, the Totally Necessary Beach-house Yeah, it's been pretty dead... to say the least.
  22. Something that made me realize I need to study human anatomy a little more before combining it with perspective
  23. I'd echo the sentiments of everyone here - giving up is the one thing you never want to do. Take a break? Sure. But stopping entirely.... eh. One thing I think helps is to find something you feel good drawing, regardless of how good you are or how simple it is. For example, I quite enjoy drawing eyes - not particularly good at it, but that's not the point. Anytime I draw something that I'm not very happy with (especially if it's taken up a lot of time) I go ahead and just draw an eye for a bit, and I feel a bit better, even if it's not something worth showing off. I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to replicate what's in your head. That can take... well, forever. Best thing to do is to learn all the different aspects (proportions, perspective, colour theory, etc.) you'd need to make those images real, and focus on them individually, but make sure you draw some pretty pictures along the way to keep yourself motivated, even if they're totally different to what you're aiming for For example, all my recent pictures have been purely to practice perspective, and are only mildly related to what I actually want to draw in the end. So yeah, don't give up
  24. Thanks! Had to google M.C. Escher, but I can kinda see it
